Braylon Cut By Jets
Could it be over? Lets hope he finds another gig. I would guess a team might look to sign him after week 1. If he is on the roster week one they have to pay him a full years salary no matter what.
August 26th, 2013 at 1:51 PM ^
this might be best for him, assuming he can land someplace else.
August 26th, 2013 at 1:52 PM ^
He's the best QB they have on the roster...
Hope he lands on his feet.
August 26th, 2013 at 1:53 PM ^
Say again?
August 26th, 2013 at 1:57 PM ^
I have a feeling he is saying the Jets' current QBs are garbage and even Braylon can do better.
August 26th, 2013 at 1:53 PM ^
I think you meant to say he is the best WR on the roster, but given the quaterback situation, he might be the best QB as well.
August 26th, 2013 at 1:58 PM ^
because sanchez and geno smith are bad
August 26th, 2013 at 3:23 PM ^
you will not tolerate them, not at all

Eh. I care more about what he did for Michigan and he did great things there.
August 26th, 2013 at 1:54 PM ^
What ever became of his little brother? Did Michigan offer him the chance to walk on?
August 26th, 2013 at 2:00 PM ^
Berkley Edwards signed with MInnesota I think
August 26th, 2013 at 4:36 PM ^
He also suffered a high ankle sprain recently. No idea how serious or anything, but not the best of news for him. LINK
August 26th, 2013 at 2:00 PM ^
Berkley has a scholarship to Minnesota.
August 26th, 2013 at 2:01 PM ^
I don't think Michigan ever offered Berkley Edwards, but I believe he committed to Minnesota late last year and will be a freshman this year for the Gophers.
August 27th, 2013 at 5:32 AM ^
The Sparties just can't get out from the shadow of UM
August 26th, 2013 at 2:01 PM ^
Berkley Edwards is a freshman at Minnesota.
August 26th, 2013 at 2:03 PM ^
He ended up at Minny. So if they did offer him a walk on spot, he didn't like it.
EDIT: As a bunch of people just told you.
August 26th, 2013 at 1:55 PM ^
I have a hard time understanding why a guy with his size, athleticism and skill can't make an NFL roster.
August 26th, 2013 at 1:57 PM ^
Doesn't impose his will, route running, dropped passes... could be a number of things. That organization is a tire fire anyways.
August 26th, 2013 at 3:01 PM ^
By being demonstrably bad at professional football.
August 26th, 2013 at 3:46 PM ^
Because he isn't the player he was when he entered the league; he has horrible dropsies, is a mediocre route runner, and isn't fast enough anymore to really separate from good DBs. And to be fair, he's had some issues on and off the field. He'll probably get another chance, but he's not really a star anymore.
August 26th, 2013 at 1:56 PM ^
Braylon has been such a bust in the NFL. I have heard stories that he can be a bit of a head case.. but who knows what the truth is. Anyway- hope he finally lands a spot that works for him if he gets another shot. I will say 1 thing, he hasn't been w/any team that gives him a great opportunity for big things.. but, he also hasn't taken it on his shoulders and overcome and adversity. Think he gets maybe 1 more shot. Hope it's with a legit team looking for some depth.. but if a bad team doesn't want depth, who knows. Clearly, I am going in circles, I can't wrap my head around this guy.
August 26th, 2013 at 2:03 PM ^
Edwards has spent his career in shitty organizations with shitty QBs. Look at Larry Fitzgerald...even he had a really down year during the QB carousel in Arizona. No WR is totally immune from passer problems.
August 26th, 2013 at 2:15 PM ^
I would hardly call the 49ers and the Seahawks shitty organizations with shitty QB's. Both made deep playoff runs when he was with them, both were thin at WR, and in both cases he failed to seperate himself from the other WR's on the roster. They aren't high passing attempt teams, but neither were the Jets when Braylon was with them on their 2009-2010 playoff runs and played pretty well. If there is something wrong, it's with Braylon.
August 26th, 2013 at 2:31 PM ^
"shitty organizations" as you put it. He's simply been an underachiever in the NFL. For one thing, he's never gotten past "dropped pass-itis" that plagued him at Michigan. Focus seems to be a big problem too. The off the field incidents in Cleveland are a good example. I hope he gets another opportunity, but he's already had a boat-load of 2nd chances. So, personally, I'm not holding out a lot of hope.

August 26th, 2013 at 2:43 PM ^
At the very least, they will probably work him out.
August 26th, 2013 at 2:48 PM ^
I think they would be careful to take on another potential head case with a serious issue with the drops.
August 26th, 2013 at 2:59 PM ^
Whatever "issues" Braylon's had, they're not even in the same universe as Young's.
August 26th, 2013 at 9:38 PM ^
He's been pulled over multiple times for speeding, not including a DWI.
He plead no-contest to aggravated assault.
And his mysterious vehicle accident at Belle Isle a couple years ago didn't make sense. You're at Belle Isle at 3AM to show your buddy your boat and you lose focus and crash your car.
Bringing him home to play would either make him focus or get him around a crowd he needs not be around.

Not likely, he's been available for anyone to sign at different points in the past few seasons and nobody's pulled the trigger. Got cut by SF last year and their WR corps was not a team strength. I think it goes beyond the drops / concentration lapses / kind of acting like an a-hole and he's just lost the ability to run by people or get seperation.
An all-time Michigan great but he's 30, his last moderately productive year was 2010 and 4 teams have given up on him in the past 4 years. Sadly, I think he's done.

brings for Michigan in his time there but he's a massive bust given his draft position and his expectations upon getting drafted. The fact that he cannot make the roster for a team that needs a good WRs in the worst way is telling. He's done.
August 26th, 2013 at 2:41 PM ^
Relative to his draft position he was a disappointment. Relative to being an NFL pro he was fine albeit he dropped too many passes. He had some good years at Cleveland but... it was Cleveland. He averaged between 15-17 yards PER catch for 6 years. With crap QBs. He was injured and then I think his drive waned (looking from afar) - usually a WR is going to start to slow down in his early 30s but Braylon seemed to do so about 3-4 years earlier than most. Basically at 28 he was done for as a big time threat - sort of like Shaun Alexander who one day was dominant and within 12 months seemed to lose most of it all. Don't know if he truly loved the game since his physical talent seemed to be more than his performance.
August 26th, 2013 at 7:45 PM ^
Wide receivers typically don't fall off as fast as running backs. The drops and attitude issues finally just caught up with him.

Edwards was a bad ass his senior season for the Wolverines. Too bad it didn't carry over to the pros. He had some decent years here and there.
