Michigan Football Spring Game Open Thread

Since I can't stream the game live because I have Comcast (*shakes fist*) I figured I'd live vicariously through you guys that can watch live or that are at the Big House.

Posts thoughts and observations here.

Somehow I find myself unable to see the UM spring game. (But thank goodness for WTKA). To make matters worse, I found myself surrounded by red nylon jackets last night, and this morning was awakened to a chorus of "Across the Field" by the Sweet Adelines in my hotel lobby. I replied with my own solo version of Hail to the Victors from my balcony. Instead of finding any way to view our game, I can see the video board of Paul Brown stadium from my hotel. How did this happen to me? When did OSU decide to invade Cincinnati?

The decision was made last year, I believe, for OSU to hold their SG in Cincy. A few reasons for this...not the least of which is a conscious effort to bring the OSU brand to a city in Ohio that probably has an OSU fanbase that is substantially less, percentagewise, than most other Ohio cities.

Still...I really dislike this. A lot. Cincinnati is home to a BCS conference team (despite what anyone may -- quite validly -- think of the Big East), and it's kind of a slap in the face to the Bearcats and their fans. The ones who don't also root for OSU, that is -- and there are quite a few of those. Tommy Tuberville is probably too old and too out of touch to raise any stink, but if I were the head coach of UC football, I'd publicly go on the airwaves and say "WTF." Cincinnati has been in a BCS conference for years, and although they will obviously always play second fiddle to the big bad Buckeyes, it's high time to stop playing nice in terms of any crossover fanbase concerns.

twice this week for meetings, the school topic came up in both meetings thanks to our presence in the title game Monday night.  According to the guys in both meetings, Kentucky and Louisville have their share of fans in the Cincinnati area (more than OSU).  That makes sense when you consider Kentucky is right across the river and that Lexington and Lousiville are both easy driving distance.

I live in Cincinnati, and that's absolutely the case. A lot of pull in different directions from several BCS-affiliated colleges -- and although not in the immediate vicinity, Notre Dame is certainly one of them. Quite possibly the most concentrated ND fanbase in the state of Ohio seems to be located smack dab in Cincy. Ah, lucky me.

I will say this, though -- I watched most of Michigan's NCAA tourney games at a local watering hole, and the Wolverine fans were out in full force. Kinda nice to see, and a little unexpected. I guess winning brings em out of hiding! I also noticed this in the days immediately following our wins in football vs. OSU in 2003 & 2011, and after the Sugar Bowl win...

Look how well the hiring of Smith from the NCAA director of enforcements has helped the suckeyes.  Aurburn is another renegade outfit in need of some help to stave off the investigators.

Is there some secret to getting BT2Go to work?  That window where it says drag a score into this area to watch has never worked for me.  None of the options are highlighted.

It's live...

That said, I forgot how poor BTN programming is when it's not a marquee matchup.

In the leading segment they show Fitz's injury and a bunch of highlights of Lewan...none of them really blocking (they showed a facemask, a hold and a jersey grab).
