A Bama-ND BCS Championship Game?
K-state is not going to make it to unbeaten; Oregon looks unlikely too that it would maintain unbeaten.
Of course USC is waiting for ND but USC looked just plain ordinary.
Alabama will meet (and beat) Auburn (hey, give us Derick Green!), and it will beat Georgia for SEC championship.
Of all scenarios, an Alabama-ND match probably is the worst that Brian Kelly can get.

ND would be the most underwhelming team to play in the BCS Championship that I can remember. Thinking about our game with them this year.....what could have been

i would throw a 2007 ohio team in that mix too.

They hung with Miami, they were a better team than the '07 group who accomplished nothing.

I also don't give them a ton of credit for those 6 turnovers. Taking one or two of those red zone turnovers away would have helped us out a lot, but it is what it is.

Their defense is good, but we gift-wrapped some of those turnovers. And I refuse to give their D credit for those.

Watching that game I couldn't help but feel like it was karma for all of the good luck we've had for the past three years.

1. Spelling/grammar.
2. Wait a little while. Oregon is tied at the half and K-State has scored 10 unanswered. There's a lot of football to be played yet.
November 17th, 2012 at 9:43 PM ^
What??
Are you kidding me?
You realize K-State just has to beat this Baylor team to make it to Miami, right? And Oregon always struggles to start games but finishes them strong in the 2nd half. I would bet my life that neither K-State nor Oregon loses tonight. Oregon is also going to kill Oregon State and UCLA... As for ND, they are really good and USC is not very good at all. USC has been overhyped since the start of the season and it's pissing me off... they're terrible. ND will roll them. It's Oregon v. KSU in the national championship game, and that's a lock.
November 17th, 2012 at 9:47 PM ^
K-State also have to beat Texas next week, no?
November 17th, 2012 at 10:00 PM ^
Yeah sorry, this was their last road test, I mistakenly confused it with it being their last game. Doesn't matter because Texas is bad.
November 17th, 2012 at 9:48 PM ^
Oregon does not struggle to start games. They regularly run out to an uncatchable lead and rest the starters by late in the 3rd quarter.
November 17th, 2012 at 10:01 PM ^
You haven't watched Oregon for the last two weeks have you? Both against USC and UCLA they had very slow starts and then picked up the pace to roll.
November 17th, 2012 at 10:12 PM ^
And you haven't watched Oregon the rest of the year. I also think you mean against Cal and Stanford. Oregon hasn't played UCLA and against USC Oregon scored 14 1st quarter points and 20 in the second - not a slow start. Even against Cal is a stretch because they still had 14 1st quarter points en route to 24 points in the 1st half.
Basically you're saying Oregon starts slowly because they have struggled in this one game against Stanford.
November 17th, 2012 at 9:50 PM ^
ND hasn't rolled anyone with a pulse yet this year. Last time the media was singing ND's praises was after they beat OK and they went out and nearly lost to Pitt.
November 17th, 2012 at 10:03 PM ^
...ND rolled Oklahoma (in Norman!), who has a pulse.
November 17th, 2012 at 10:14 PM ^
The game was tied with 5 minutes left. Just because they tacked on a nothing TD at the end doesn't mean they rolled them
November 18th, 2012 at 7:53 AM ^
They held Oklahoma to 15 yards rushing. Keep trying with the excuses though.
November 18th, 2012 at 1:29 AM ^
And they bear Stanford, which is a good football team. ND deserves what it is getting, but it will get spanked by Alabama, which will be great.
November 17th, 2012 at 10:04 PM ^
A win is a win and all teams require luck to go undefeated. The Irish might not have thrashed everyone they've played, but they do have one of the strongest schedules to date and have WON every game. Doesn't matter how it happens, they've won every game.

You mean like KSU did to IowaSt? We also didn't play any FCS teams. Come on guys, whats going to be the excuse when we win it all?

November 17th, 2012 at 10:02 PM ^
while i agree with you, oregon does NOT start slow. they have averaged close to 35 points in the first half this season.
November 17th, 2012 at 10:44 PM ^
you're about 20 minutes away from looking extremely foolish.
November 17th, 2012 at 10:52 PM ^
Yeah. I agree.

That said, after seeing K state and Oregon, what makes ND so bad?
Bama would crush them though.

Since we played ND, would them losing lower our SOS and potentially hurt us in the computer rankings? Maybe it doesn't matter since they beat us?
November 17th, 2012 at 10:07 PM ^
...as much as I'd like to see ND lose and miss out on the National Championship game, would it not improve our chances at a BCS at-large berth (assuming Nebraska wins out, of course)? We have to remember not to follow in some other teams' footsteps...we can't hate our rival more than we love our own team, just doesn't make sense. In other words, we should cheer for ND if it improves our shot at a BCS berth, no matter how much we hate them (assuming it would in fact help us...otherwise: to hell with Notre Dame.)
BEAT OHIO!
November 17th, 2012 at 10:10 PM ^
What ND does really has no consequence to us BCS wise. We want Oregon and Kansas St to win so they got auto bids not at large bids
November 17th, 2012 at 11:37 PM ^
Even with tonight's loss doesn't K State still win the Big 12 by beating Texas? If they lose to Texas doesn't seem like they'd be a real option for an at large bid. Long way to say, K State loss tonighty doesn't really matter to us.
It would help us get closer to top 14 in BCS if K State beats Texas. However, the Stanford win over Oregon makes it less likely M gets there anyway.
November 17th, 2012 at 9:53 PM ^
I think ND chokes next week regardless of this week's outcome.

that will make them #1 in the BCS polls and Bama #2. Oh my God my stomach. Oh God...The thought of ND being 1st...(puking)
November 17th, 2012 at 10:23 PM ^
With knowledge of future information, I think Oregon will pull this one out.
