OT: Tiger pregame/MLB open thread. Who's your Tiger tonight
Quadruple header today leading off with Reds v Giants in deciding game 5
Who is your Tiger tonight?
Tonight is the night we find out if JV is worthy of being mentioned in the same breath with the incomparable Jack Morris.
Sabermetric over analysis warning: JV is 29 years old. Jack Morris was 29 in 1984.
I'm going with Justin Verlander as player of the game

or put a banana in his tailpipe. I love the OP's sentiment about Morris/Verlander. JV can go 140 pitches tonight ... then the rotation can go Fister-Sanchez-Scherzer-Verlander-Fister-Scherzer-then Verlander in a game 7. What sucked along with everything else about last night is it totally effs up the rotation ... we may have been able to get three starts in the ALCS out of JV, but the rotation I just mentioned above will do. His possible Game 7 start would be on normal rest even if Sanchez is skipped.

Man I think you ride Verlander 8 or 9 if he has his stuff. He is a special physical specimen who can throw 100 in the 9th inning, which I'm not sure if anyone has ever been able to do before. And the Tigers bullpen is turrable. And I'm a Brewers fan; I know turrable bullpens.

A-Jax has been terrible since the series went to Oakland

Or maybe Oakland just knows how to pitch. They beat both the angles and the rangers this year. Give them a little bit of credit.

Is that really different from the Oakland hitters?
October 11th, 2012 at 10:54 PM ^
Yes actually it is, they are swinging through fastballs at 95-96, the Tigers are swinging and missing pitches well off the plate inside and outside.
October 11th, 2012 at 10:11 PM ^
Oh FFS stop talking about Verlander getting the outside strike call, Parker is getting the same exact thing.

So where did they find all these Oakland fans?
October 11th, 2012 at 11:15 PM ^
They just opened the stadium up to random people. This is how people dress out there
October 11th, 2012 at 11:18 PM ^
California.
October 11th, 2012 at 11:26 PM ^
That'd be it! They definitely should have tried to get some fans from there during the regular season too.
October 11th, 2012 at 11:28 PM ^
Anyone got a working stream?

October 11th, 2012 at 11:39 PM ^
Not so. The announcers were correct that you can't just take off....it could've been caught and then your ass is doubled off.
October 11th, 2012 at 11:40 PM ^
Can't really fault him for that, he had to wait and see if it would indeed travel over Pennington's head.
October 11th, 2012 at 11:42 PM ^
Meh I'll give him that one. It was close enough that he had to freeze. Hopefully Ajax can bring them home!
Hell yes!!

Cabrera gets hit, bringing in a run, and a bases loaded at bat for Prince.
October 11th, 2012 at 11:45 PM ^
Well, we will certainly accept that free run, especially in an 0-2 count.
