If the Detroit DLine can show up this season 12 wins is not out of the question...We have 2 weeks to wait on leshoure and hopefully he can improve our lagging running game enough for teams to have to respect it.
Today i would expect somewhere in the 31-17 range for the win....Bradford will complete a few passes and I'm still not sure the lions secondary can cover anyone.

of agonizing over who to start on my pretend teams. Yay!

Tried to watch ESPN this morning to hear about college football. Instead, I get treated to some People Magazine fluff garbage about Tim Tebow and Mark Sanchez in New York, complete with a montage of The Chosen One (Tebow) running topless through the rain. Give me some analysis, damn it. Give me anything of substance. I can't stand how the NFL is slowly being turned into the NBA, with stars (pretty boy quarterbacks) being exalted and protected to the high heavens, while the actual game is dumbed down and softened into some nancy boy prancing garbage.

Superfans: Da Bears!!
Bill Swerski: Okay. Okay, by my watch, we're about sixty minutes from game time. As you are sure aware, Da Bears are getting ready for the big season opener against Da Indianapolis Colts. Now, let's go around the room for some predictions. Pat?
Pat Arnold: Da Bears, 62 to 3.
Bill Swerski: Okay. Todd.
Todd O'Conner: Bears. 79-zip.
Bill Swerski: Oh, really? You don't think that Da Colts will score?
Todd O'Conner: No, I do not! Da Bears defense is like a wall. You can't go through it!
Bill Swerski: Alright. How about you, Carl?
Carl Wollarski: I say Bears, 52 to 14.
Pat Arnold: Oh, what? Come on!
Carl Wollarski: I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I gotta give Da Colts credit - I think they'll give Da Bears a game!
Bill Swerski: Alright, leave him alone, that's his prerogative! As for my prediction.. at game's end, uh.. there won't be two teams of contrasting moods heading off da field, my friends. One gloom, one gleeful. The gleeful, of which be.. Da Bears!
Superfans: Da Bears!!
Bill Swerski: 74 to 2! I mean, after all, our civic pride is on the line. Because, let's face it, if Indianapolis were to somehow beat Chicago, we'd never hear the end of it.
Todd O'Conner: Aw, they would love it down there!
Bill Swerski: You know, it's absurd, really, that we would even have to waste our time comparing ourselves to that farm-ridden cornhole!
Carl Wollarski: Absolutely!

"Farm-ridden cornhole" is brilliant.

Does anyone have one?

Nice to join you all for another Lions first game after playoff run.
I want our guys to win, but man I could also really go for a supernovic user meltdown. I'm hoping in the unlikely event of a loss, one of you will be happy to oblige.

Chris Meyers and Tim Ryan are awkwardly close to each other in the booth.

The one posted above has an advertisement covering the screen and I can't watch the game.

So you want someone to find and post another link for you because you're too lazy to close some pop-up ads? Would that've stopped you from watching some porn?

that is why I asked for another link. The commercial is looped and will not shut off.

Everyone else figured it out. You didn't. So how am I a dumbass?
September 9th, 2012 at 2:13 PM ^
He looks like garbage.
September 9th, 2012 at 2:18 PM ^
Alright, Stafford looks fantastic. LOL

September 9th, 2012 at 2:20 PM ^
I am inclined to stick in Shaun Hill. Stafford is costing the Lions the game. The Lions are outplaying the Rams everywhere else.
September 9th, 2012 at 2:25 PM ^
Stafford apparently doesn't believe in going to the middle anymore...all of these INT's have invovled the rams almost overloading on the outside.
Pettigrew/Schefler/Young should be having a field day against the LB's in the middle all game long.

The Lions line is starting to really push around St. Louis. Orlando Pace isn't on that line anymore, and you can tell Bradford is fearing for his life a bit.

Good to see Detroit is playing like normal detroit lions teams today. Good stuff....

Yup...ugly win indeed. But 1-0 after playing like complete crap is still a good feeling.

How the hell does Linehan call for 48 passes on a day when Stafford was clearly struggling and we were getting almost 5 ypr. !? Glad we got the win though. Front seven was dominant holding Jackson to 53 yds and basically blowing up the LOS.
September 9th, 2012 at 4:43 PM ^
I thought Linehan called a solid game, lots of execution mistakes whether it be bad throws, or dropped passes. The lions aren't ever going to be confused as a running team, so not sure why you think they shouldn't have thrown as much.
September 9th, 2012 at 4:56 PM ^
Three interceptions in the first half and a sputtering offense during most of the second half shows me that we should have tried to establish the run a little more to help out Stafford. When we are having some success in terms of ypc, which doesn't happen often, we should keep riding Smith and Williams to open up the pass more.

I think the NFL started to figure out how to contain him toward the end of the year, and the Bucs have some good defenders with Barron and Clayborn. But I always felt that Newton was going to go the way of Vince Young - he's a great athlete who can throw the ball at times, but he relies too much on his athleticism and in the NFL teams figure you out. He might still figure it out and be effective, but he never impressed me with his accuracy in college, and like other QBs who played in spread offenses there are always concerns that their accuracy numbers are inflated by system they run.
