Josh Helmholdt: Big News For a Pair of B1G Teams Tomorrow
Rivals.com Midwestern recruiting expert Josh Helmholdt just had a TomVH level cryptic tweet go out;
Josh Helmholdt @JoshHelmholdt
Hearing there could be some big news for a pair of #B1G teams tomorrow...
He then also tweeted saying it was good news.
If the mods feel like this is too vague to be worthy of a thread, go ahead and delete, but considering all the recruiting buzz around us recently, I wouldn't be surprised if this had something to do with Michigan.
And even if it's not and has to nothing to do with Michigan, I think anything dealing with big news regarding B1G teams should be of interest to us.
I know BISB. I keep searching the house hopin' for a pair of "ruby slippers" to make it happen.
Isn't it 1 in 6?
Maybe Big Ten fans should stop feeding Josh's ego and just say, "Okay, we'll see tomorrow."
Sounds like a good plan. I’m in.
FWIW, a caller to Webb's Recruiting Roundup segment this morning specifically referenced Helmholdt's assertion and asked Sam if he knew of any big recruiting developments that would be breaking today. Webb said he didn't know of anything like that at the moment.
My guess, Greg Bryant de-commits to Oklahoma after visiting Auburn. It seems to be a 2 horse race for Green with Michigan and Auburn as the front runners. Bryant is thought to be a strong lean to Auburn now and Green is committing to Michigan. The other team is Wisconsin that will get a commitment from Chance Stewart.
Or...It's all just B.S.
You clearly haven't read much of this thread.
Helmholdt said it didn't have anything to do with Michigan.
well I did not see such a post on "Rivals Paid Board" That is in fact information that I have not found anywhere on their board. Still, I really don't think it's true since obviously a Michigan Insider would have that info first. I guess i needed the little /s. One can dream...
Actually, you are better off if you take the “It’s all just B.S.” route, as it is just that.
I think it's already big news that at least a few significant players have not left PSU.
I hate USC, but Redd would be crazy to take a pass on that opportunity.
He could be the next OJ or Reggie.......
or he could be Herschel Dennis.
It is a pretty late switch, and for only one year. I could see this from a underclassman who would have time to learn a new system well enough to thrive. If he leaves and perfoms poorly, I think he hurts his stock more.
I was going back and forth on what I think is the better move for his pro chances.
USC will be a better football team, will have better National Coverage and has a huge reputation for having first round draft picks.
But on the other hand, 'SC will be a one year "gun for hire" situation. He won't be comfortable there, he may not get the starting nod (or may split carries). He will have to learn a new system (but then again there is a new PSU head coach too, so a new-ish system there as well).
I think my opinion is: if he is comfortable at PSU- likes his living situation, friends, teammates, etc- he should stay there. It is easier to play your best when you are comfortable. But, if he thinks the negative news coverage is going to make it difficult to play well he should go. (I think he is going to 'SC FWIW)
Silas- You are welcome for the advice.
when we were both good at the same time. I do remember beating some good Washington teams in the Rose Bowl when USC wasn't good enough to win the Pac Ten. Frankly you have to say that team has had our number when we meet head to head.
But have we ever played them outside the state of California?
While it won't happen, I would love to see that matchup in Ann Arbor in November. Guess we will have to beat them in Glendale, Miami, or New Orleans for the national championship.
Ron Simpkins does not approve of this post...Charles White thinks it's dandy though...
No news is good news
I predict there will be big news for a B1G team tomorrow.
Bueller?
@JoshHelmholdt: #Purdue lands Florida 3star DB http://bit.ly/T2mAUd Expect 2nd piece of B1G news later in the week
2nd Piece is probably Demetrius Cooper who is supposed to call Dantonio on Wednesday or Thurs
Be still my heart.
Not exactly news worthy of such a stir in the internets,
Ohio State fan tried to tell that to Josh...
and he replied:
@tjessberger It was big for Purdue. 20+ offer kid. Just because it's not your team, does not mean it is not big for that team
I'm not sure if it caused a huge stir on the internet in general.
While MGoBlog is part of the internet, we also somewhat overreacted to this news with a ~125 post thread thus far, since the original Tweet had nothing to do with Michigan.
...while 25 of those posts were from you
A quick scroll up the thread shows 4 posts for me.
And I never overreacted to the news, since I entered the fray by saying (in summary) "This probably isn't about Michigan since it's not coming from Sam Webb or TomVH." Of course, several other posters had the same notion, so I wasn't the only one. But still.
you are still here reading it...just saying...
I also knew this had nothing to do with Michigan and made an obvious reach of a statement. You had to put your two cents in about a sarcastic remark.
