Um... Why is 1997 Nebraska kicking our ass?
Michigan is getting whooped in some stupid SportsNation poll about which team was more deserving of the '97 nation championship. Barf.
http://espn.go.com/blog/bigten/post/_/id/46917/big-ten-champions-tourna…
The combined efforts of all of the fan groups that hate Michigan. MSU, OSU, ND, the rest of the Big Ten, etc.
EDIT: This looks ripe for a good photoshopping.
Because the vast majority of people are stupid.
Actually, with stupidity carrying a relative nature, you could argue that no more than 50% of the population is stupid.
There is relative stupidity and ACTUAL stupidity. You can be above the average intelligence in a given group and still be dumb as a brick.
To wit:
It's a stupid poll 15 years after the fact. Who cares
1997 Nebraska isn't kicking out ass. A bunch of dudes on the internet are. Please change your title, it's obnoxious.
fans called in their bots. It's now 95% to 5% in favor of the Cornhuskers. Whatever...

very, very, very scientific experiment recently performed in a very, very, very scientifically relevant location, it was proven that 9 out of every 10 people who don't go to Michigan hate Michigan. I don't understand it either, but you can't argue with science.
They've done studies you know...60% of the time, it works every time.
Its true. Michigan is very hated out there, among non Michigan fans. When I was living in Nashville for several years, the anti-Michigan hatred there was pulpable. Granted Nashville is not the most intelligently dominated populous...but they still have the opinion that most of the country share. Watching the Ohio games down there at local sports bars, it was always 90 percent rooting for Ohio and hating on Michigan.
Most of the people voting are probably not even old enough to remember those teams.
Never underestimate the power of tRCMB's obsession with internet polls.
It should be as important to us as proper officiating was to the Big 12 in 1997. That is, not at all.
It's like listening to two old farts in a bar argue about Willie Mays vs Mickey Mantle. Changes nothing, means nothing, other than there are more pathetic Nebraska fans than there are pathetic Michigan fans.
the ohio and sparty computer science wizards are busy repeatedly clicking the nebraska button in that poll (on their moms' computers).
Someone seems to be doing something robotic. The page takes forEVA to register votes on the rare occasions that they actually go through.
and received rejection letters are doing most of the voting.....So you must expect this outcome!
I take issue with you blaming State fans. Every one of them I talked to when I went there claimed to have been accepted to Michigan, but chose State instead.
I was the only overt Michigan reject at Stateshank.
...how many times is this going to get posted?

And how many mods will post in this thread before one realizes it....?
Yah, yah. But let's see them raise $33,000 is less than 24 hours for a Cornhusker football mag! Not a chance.
Fact 1...there is no national championship. I personally could care less whether anybody thinks Michigan won it or not.
Fact 2...Michigan won every game in 1997, won the Big Ten and the Rose Bowl. In other words, a perfect season.
Call me crazy but I'd rather celebrate a perfect season than celebrate a one or two-loss team with a BCS Shampionship.
That Nebraska ran the table the same year that we did really doesn't bother me. If anything 1997 should be considered a "vintage" year for providing college football fans with two perfect teams. That should be celebrated rather than quarrelled over.
Well said, good sir.
So you care a little bit?
It's the Internet, not a big deal. Relax
because they keep running that play where the receiver in the front of the end zone kicks the ball to the reciever at the back of the end zone. That is tough to defend.
Most fans in the Big Ten do not like Michigan (if not already a Michigan fan)...so we have that going against us. Toss in the fact that Neb fans are all over that poll.... its easy to see why "Neb is kicking our ass". They get the Neb votes + Michigan haters votes... vs. Michigan fans votes. Its just a stupid poll.
On the field, I have no doubt that our 28 NFL players on the roster, including 3 Hall of Famers (Woodson, Brady and Hutchinson) would beat the 1 dimensional Ahman Green Neb team pretty handily.
But most people do not look at these polls with an objective stance.
Many people voting in these polls know nothing about the 1997 teams. Probably didn't even watch a game that year or were too young to gauge the teams to any extent. It's simple, Michigan has enemies that enjoy hating and Nebraska does not.

with very little to do, and way too much time, of course they're winning by almost a million clicks. Still super surprising.

Nebraska: not even one other university to split loyalties with; no professional teams; the ground's still frozen, so spring planting hasn't started yet = nothing better to do than sit inside at a computer and vote on some poll that is the most important thing in the lives of many Nebraskans right now. Besides, the more lopsided the results are, the more obviously irrelevant the poll is.
