very, very, very scientific experiment recently performed in a very, very, very scientifically relevant location, it was proven that 9 out of every 10 people who don't go to Michigan hate Michigan.  I don't understand it either, but you can't argue with science.

Its true.  Michigan is very hated out there, among non Michigan fans.  When I was living in Nashville for several years, the anti-Michigan hatred there was pulpable.  Granted Nashville is not the most intelligently dominated populous...but they still have the opinion that most of the country share.  Watching the Ohio games down there at local sports bars, it was always 90 percent rooting for Ohio and hating on Michigan.

It's like listening to two old farts in a bar argue about Willie Mays vs Mickey Mantle. Changes nothing, means nothing, other than there are more pathetic Nebraska fans than there are pathetic Michigan fans.

All of the Michigan faithful are hard at work. All those cornhuskers fans have just recently figured out this Internet thing and are finding it hard to tear themselves away from the monitor and get back to the plow.

Fact 1...there is no national championship.  I personally could care less whether anybody thinks Michigan won it or not.

Fact 2...Michigan won every game in 1997, won the Big Ten and the Rose Bowl.  In other words, a perfect season.

Call me crazy but I'd rather celebrate a perfect season than celebrate a one or two-loss team with a BCS Shampionship.

That Nebraska ran the table the same year that we did really doesn't bother me.  If anything 1997 should be considered a "vintage" year for providing college football fans with two perfect teams.  That should be celebrated rather than quarrelled over.

There is internet in Nebraska? Wow, learn something every day. Good for them.....GO WIN THAT POLL HUSKERS!

It's the Internet, not a big deal. Relax

because they keep running that play where the receiver in the front of the end zone kicks the ball to the reciever at the back of the end zone.  That is tough to defend.

No one will ever be able to convince me that the '97 team wouldn't have beat Nebraska that year. I'll take that D against anyone...option offense or not.

Most fans in the Big Ten do not like Michigan (if not already a Michigan fan)...so we have that going against us.  Toss in the fact that Neb fans are all over that poll.... its easy to see why "Neb is kicking our ass".  They get the Neb votes + Michigan haters votes... vs.  Michigan fans votes.  Its just a stupid poll.

On the field, I have no doubt that our 28 NFL players on the roster, including 3 Hall of Famers (Woodson, Brady and Hutchinson) would beat the 1 dimensional Ahman Green Neb team pretty handily.

But most people do not look at these polls with an objective stance.

Many people voting in these polls know nothing about the 1997 teams. Probably didn't even watch a game that year or were too young to gauge the teams to any extent. It's simple, Michigan has enemies that enjoy hating and Nebraska does not.

Nebraska: not even one other university to split loyalties with; no professional teams; the ground's still frozen, so spring planting hasn't started yet = nothing better to do than sit inside at a computer and vote on some poll that is the most important thing in the lives of many Nebraskans right now.  Besides, the more lopsided the results are, the more obviously irrelevant the poll is.
