Danny O'Brien still an option?
With TomVH's cryptic comment yesterday in the ESPN chat, does anyone wonder if Danny O could be back in play? Tom said that he couldnt really say much other than the person is committed to another school. I don't think he was referring to Reeves, so who is it? With all the shenanigans going on at Tennessee, I wouldnt mind seeing O'Brien back in the mix for UM. And yeah, I know we have a ton of DL talent coming in, but we lost Pharoah who was at one time considered a DL/TE commit.

Rumor? I just said I wondered if it was him. Guess we can't wonder and speculate anymore.
January 10th, 2012 at 8:29 PM ^
Yes. When you start a threat titled "Danny O'Brien still an option?", that is how rumors start.

Rumor has it that kid is so fast he can cover the world in one night.
January 10th, 2012 at 9:36 PM ^
I heard he has serious weight issues
January 11th, 2012 at 9:45 AM ^
But I heard in the offseason he has a rigorous workout schedule that he sticks to and slims down the bad weight for football season to begin. I hear he pulls a massive sled in the offseason.

Our good friend TomVH has said as much and stated that without going into too much detail that if O'Brien did decommit...he still wouldn't choose Michigan
January 10th, 2012 at 7:52 PM ^
I thought I remember reading that the coaches weren't that high on O'Brien after they evaluated him and that's part of the reason he went to Tennessee.
January 10th, 2012 at 7:56 PM ^
You remember correctly. But, lets keep bringing the topic up until NSD!
January 10th, 2012 at 7:55 PM ^
Pee Wee say? Let him be the judge, afterall he shut Shutt out!
January 10th, 2012 at 7:57 PM ^
Let's say it is Danny oBrien. Would the coaches have to run that past pipkins? Or should they for courtesy? Or do they just do what they want and let commits decide how to respond when a recruit of the same position is coming in?
January 10th, 2012 at 7:58 PM ^
Arnett?
January 10th, 2012 at 8:04 PM ^
I don't think so...I think Dantanio would have ensured that he is as firm as possible given Arnett's history with commiting to MSU. However, I would love to be wrong in this instance.
January 10th, 2012 at 10:08 PM ^
January 11th, 2012 at 7:21 AM ^
This would be impossible. Arnett is already enrolled and has already moved into his dorm on campus.
Additionally, it doesn't make much sense of the comments that originally started the rumor, which discussed a 4* recruit who had already committed, therefore not a transfer.
January 10th, 2012 at 8:04 PM ^
Tom has said its a 4 star via espn. It's not goodman. He's committed to another school. He hasn't been on the radar at all. O'brien is a 3 star. So yeah I really don't think anyone is going to get it. I thought it was muller as well but apparently it's being denied.
January 10th, 2012 at 8:44 PM ^
According to ESPN it is Goodman but they have been wrong before.
January 10th, 2012 at 9:18 PM ^
I didn't make it clear. The seceret visitor isn't listed. Goodman has been for a while. Tom has never been able to get a hold of goodman but has talked to the mystery guy.
what we know or has been rumored
- hes a 4 star via espn
- he is commited
- he really hasn't been on our radar
-NOT GOODMAN
January 10th, 2012 at 8:05 PM ^
Brionte? lolz
January 10th, 2012 at 8:08 PM ^
Take it FWIW, but Evan Goodman's ESPN page lists a Michigan visit for this weekend, Jan. 13.
January 10th, 2012 at 8:23 PM ^
No, Tom has never been able to get a hold of him, but tom also knows who it is,so process of elimination it's not goodman.
January 10th, 2012 at 8:39 PM ^
I'm not sure if or where Tom said that, but, I'm more inclined to believe the page than you. Sorry.
January 10th, 2012 at 8:46 PM ^
Well since Tom covers Michigan recruiting, I would guess that he was theone who put it there. Secondly, with the exception of Tom, ESPN's recruiting website sucks and is hilariously inaccurate.
January 10th, 2012 at 8:51 PM ^
That's what I was getting at - that Tom is a likely source of that information.
January 10th, 2012 at 8:52 PM ^
I'm afraid you and a few others are missing the point. If it's listed on ESPN's visit page, it's not a secret. Goodman's visit has been up there for awhile btw. Tom mentioned there may be a surpise recruit coming in who doesn't want it known.
January 10th, 2012 at 9:00 PM ^
its in the forum on espn where we are having this same exact conversation
January 10th, 2012 at 9:10 PM ^
Ah. Fair enough. Thanks for the information, guys.
January 10th, 2012 at 8:10 PM ^
What about Burbridge or Dunn? Those two would make more sense than Danny O.
January 10th, 2012 at 8:12 PM ^
Burbridge would be incredible.
January 10th, 2012 at 8:14 PM ^
Funchess was recently asked about Burbridge and he said that Burbridge was very solid to MSU...so any developments there would be unexpected but welcome.
January 10th, 2012 at 8:25 PM ^
Confirmed. Not happening.
January 10th, 2012 at 9:20 PM ^
You never asked him directly and if it was supposed to be a secret why would he tell you?
January 10th, 2012 at 8:14 PM ^
I think it's Burbridge. I posted why a bit further down
January 10th, 2012 at 8:13 PM ^
If Pipkins doesn't want O'Brien, we don't get O'Brien. He is our future
January 10th, 2012 at 11:14 PM ^
Pipkins is our top prospect for future press conferences also.
I hope Roundtree has a strong senior season, he was also pretty funny. "I'm hungry."
January 10th, 2012 at 8:14 PM ^
Based on all the evidence, that he's a 4 star to ESPN currently committed elsewhere, in addition to the fact that TVH stated that this unknown recruit's visit was being confirmed/denied by a current Michigan commit, I tend to believe that it is Burbridge
January 10th, 2012 at 8:19 PM ^
How cool would it be if getting Arnett actually pushes Burbrudge to us? I'd be really cool with that.
January 10th, 2012 at 8:23 PM ^
Do we have a current commit that has a relationship with Mr. Goodman?
January 10th, 2012 at 9:16 PM ^
To be honest, I haven't the slightest idea. This is purely my personal speculation
January 10th, 2012 at 8:21 PM ^
Kyle Dodson, OL committed to Wisconsin. Weren't there rumblings of him potentially visiting M/ re-opening his recruitment?
January 10th, 2012 at 8:23 PM ^
But he stated as much publically, no need for it to be a secret now.
January 10th, 2012 at 8:24 PM ^
January 10th, 2012 at 8:30 PM ^
Michigan definitely likes to steal a good one from MSU. Hope it is not related to Stornum.
January 10th, 2012 at 8:45 PM ^
Sturnum
January 10th, 2012 at 9:00 PM ^
Not sure if you were kidding...
January 10th, 2012 at 10:59 PM ^
Sterno?
January 10th, 2012 at 8:24 PM ^
It's someone who is currently committed, and who is afraid he'll lose his spot if his visit becomes public. I only know of one coach who has a hard-and-fast "visit = lost spot" rule:
Brady Hoke.
That's right: it's probably a Michigan commit who is looking to visit Michigan, but who is afraid his Michigan scholarship could be in jeopardy once it gets back to Michigan that he visited Michigan.
January 10th, 2012 at 8:29 PM ^
Good theory. Only one problem - keeping his visit to Michigan a secret from Coach Hoke.
January 10th, 2012 at 8:51 PM ^
Hoke won't say anything to Hoke.
January 10th, 2012 at 10:34 PM ^
Are you sure he won't point it out?
