06/14/2017 - 11:14pm Not Me

But, back in the day  (circa 1982) in Houston. TX, my wife  ushered some guy named Clint  Eastwood to his table. Somehow in the chit chat it came up that he hated those cigarillos and he couldn't stand ( was allergic to)  horses.....She said there was a lot of excitement in the restaurant, and by the way who was this Eastwood guy? He was very charming...

01/30/2015 - 8:00am Sweet Jane

Some people like to go out dancing
And other people they gotta work
And there's always some evil mother
To tell you life is full of dirt.
And the women never really faint,
And the villains always blink their eyes.
And the children are the only ones who blush.
And life is just to die.
But, anyone who has a heart
He wouldn't want to turn around and break it
And anyone who ever played a part
He wouldn't want to turn around and hate it

Lou Reed wrote it best.....and  Ian Hunter sang it best.

01/28/2015 - 8:31pm unless it's a technical area of study...go for the brand

Ultimately U.S. higher education is brand driven. And that brand is generally correlated with the difficulty of getting in. People don't go to the local CC for two years and finish off at an IVY.

Michigan is wonderfully placed in that the brand is strong and you can get in the CC route. Brand strength is certainly equal to ND and NW at the u undergrad level.D

Many in NY do the Olbermann manoeuvre whereby they apply to the cheaper and lower barrier to entry Cornell ag school, and when they get in try to transfer over to the IVY or like in his case just say he went to Cornell.

May Dave Brandon r.i.p. :-)

09/30/2014 - 10:51am Agree Completely

Hell, I even heard something on NPR....which means it has penetrated tinto the guilty liberal folk back channel.....now that's National

09/29/2014 - 8:05am All true

And you should include Brandon as well. This is the football program equivalent of an Ebola outbreak.

09/29/2014 - 7:57am The Nightly News

When it makes it on the national nightly news (ABC) Hoke has jumped the shark.

It's all about CYA and limiting liability.....Brandon step up and step down.

09/28/2014 - 3:34pm Dumb and Dumber

Brandon and Hoke, or is it Hoke and Brandon. I am embarassed.

Maybe we ought to do a seance and call up the ghost of Don Canham for advice on the matter, although I'm sure what he would say: clean house.

Am missing Rich Rod.

08/26/2014 - 7:01am Historical Artifact

Back in the day when I was creating punch cards for a program at the NUBs,  I needed to visit the rest room. As I was relieving myself, there written above the urinal were these wise words:

"When you shit you shit alone...

When you piss urination!"

08/19/2014 - 2:04pm Insurance

I read this on Doc Saturday

"ESPN sports business reporter Darren Rovell noted Tuesday morning that Miller does have a $1 million insurance policy that safeguards his financial future should he not be able to play again. The premium was paid for by Ohio State."

This seems like an NCAA violation. Better hurry up and self report.

Has his plusses and minuses. In my interactions with him he's been actually down to earth.

01/15/2014 - 7:33pm Great Stuff

So how do we get there? What are the characteristics of the personnel to make this work. Of course we will need to hear from someone on how this is defended

Give to Gallon for the Copper Bowl. The man has earned it. It would be a wonderful show of appreciation!

Good Luck to him. Though Dee Hart comes to mind.....he probably could have had some PT had he gone Blue. Even without the injuries, he never made seroius inroads.

11/03/2013 - 6:24pm I agree

at some point you need to go with the upside.....look for the magic. My favorite of alltime LeRoy Hoard was said to never practice well, but was a gamer. Maybe Bosch is one, maybe Stirbling? Chesson when finally thrown to did ok. So why not Norfleet? Couldn't do any worse!

11/03/2013 - 2:02pm Universal Truths

I often hear that sucessful offenses take what the defenses give. It seems to me to be axiomatic in college football to be sucessful you need to adjust your offensive philosophy to the personnel you have ( at least at the margins).  Borges doesn't do either particularly well. Could it be Weissian arrogance or being oblivious to feedback provided by the real world? Good Bye! Or maybe, God forbid, Brian was right and Hoke is in over his head.

11/16/2012 - 12:52pm Let the free market decide

Set up a market to let students sell tickets as they wish.....let them make a few bucks to offset the ungodly tuition.  After graduation, when I was still near enough by, it was never a problem ....however that was long ago and in a different.....sorry.

MGoBlog could run it and have a secondary income stream.
