Help! I'm Having CFB Withdrawal symptoms.
Help! I'm Having Withdrawal symptoms. I can't believe that my CFB Saturday's are OVAH.
No meaningful games to look forward to at 12:00, 3:30, 8:00, 11:30. I would have thought that they would at least have Game Day to talk about the Hiesman, Bowl Games, Army/Navy, whatever.
Nothing.
I guess I'll just watch the Michigan - Ohio State game again. I might even have to do some chores that have backed up over the last 12 weeks.

watch michigan v oakland basketball today @ 4pm. Should be a good game and show a little bit more about our team
December 10th, 2011 at 1:07 PM ^
What channel is the game on?
December 10th, 2011 at 1:35 PM ^
Never mind. I see the game is on FSD.
December 10th, 2011 at 11:37 AM ^
is regarded as a great rivalry anymore, you can't beat the specialness and tradition of the game. I'll watch it!
December 10th, 2011 at 11:46 AM ^
Army/Navy seems like a weird rivalry to me. I know maybe a dozen USNA graduates, and while they're not disinterested, they don't have either the singular focus (M/OSU) or the abject hate (M/MSU or Pitt/WVU) that other rivalries have.
Still a really special game, IMO. I watch every year.
December 10th, 2011 at 11:49 AM ^
they will be depending on each other in life-or-death situations. Kinda hard to hate someone who is your teammate in the ultimate fight--war.
They say this is "America's" game and it is true. For anyone with no direct ties to either school it is impossible to pick one to choose for.
December 10th, 2011 at 11:56 AM ^
The other thing to remember is that the service academies have functions together, and they're not big schools; my best friend has never set foot on campus at West Point and as of today has fifteen Facebook friends that are either students or alums.
It's also a unique college culture that's really only replicated among those five schools, (especially with Army/Navy, the two oldest) which is probably the biggest point, IMO.
December 10th, 2011 at 12:22 PM ^
- and it is a rivalry among the armed forces - and while some matchups are lopsided, the contests are hard fought on both sides. They got Saturday all to themselves, I'll be watching...
December 10th, 2011 at 11:44 AM ^
Someone should start a college football rehab center. "Hi, I'm bob and I watch college football."
December 10th, 2011 at 11:52 AM ^
FCS is really interesting, despite what people say. Right now they're in their playoff season and the players aren't *terrible* compared to each other, so it's kinda fun still.
December 10th, 2011 at 11:53 AM ^
FCS tournament is ongoing, including a quarterfinal at noon today. That should deaccelerate the syptoms, bring you down slowly. Until then, take vitamins, drink lots of beer, and remind yourself that there's always next year. It's going to be ok, buddy. It's going to be ok.
December 10th, 2011 at 12:54 PM ^
The problem with FCS is that I don't have a rooting interest.
Every week when I watch CFB, teams fall into one of 3 categories: 1) Teams I like, 2) Teams I hate, 3) Teams who's win or loss helps Michigan.
I don't like or hate Montana or Sam Houston, and neither one's win or loss impacts Michigan.
So, it's kind of watered down CFB. But I guess that's for the best. It's kind of like Morphine to bring me down from my Heroin addiction.
December 10th, 2011 at 1:52 PM ^
Welllll....you get there, though. Especially since its a playoff system and it's ongoing. Last year I enjoyed rooting for Delaware, because of their whole "We're Michigan Jr." thing, and that was a lot of fun. And I enjoy rooting for Appalachian State, for some preverse reason, and schools I'm familiar with...Villanova, Richmond, etc.
Is it the same? No. It's just a way for me to avoid Delerium Tremens.
December 10th, 2011 at 11:58 AM ^
FCS kept me entertained last night I plan on watching at noon.

David McCullough lecture regarding John Adams on CSPAN3 (American History TV) right now

You could compusively check MgoBlog for hours on end and then again when you wake up in the middle of the night, just hoping for some tidbit of news to tide you over until the bowl games start.
December 10th, 2011 at 12:30 PM ^
Are you writing my biography? You must be, otherwise how'd you know how I spend my day?
December 10th, 2011 at 1:05 PM ^
I could say I'm ceiling cat, but that would be creepy. Judging by my number of posts (about 2 per day) and the number of threads and posts I read in relation to posts (seems like 1,000 to one), and the number of posts many others have, I figured it was a safe bet that MgoBlog is the Methadone for addiction to watching Michigan football games.

Good Idea. I'll F5 until Bri'onte Dunn commits.
December 10th, 2011 at 12:16 PM ^
still one of the most exciting games I've ever seen was App St at Montana (in the national semis) a few years ago. It was in the snow. It was awesome

I know exactly how the OP feels....
I guess it's time to finally clean out the frozen gutters and mulch down the frozen leaves on the frozen yard. I think this is why my wife rolls her eyes when my season tickets arrive each year.

So true about the chores. It's funny - I feel like I have all of this extra time this weekend.
December 10th, 2011 at 1:04 PM ^
That's what's adding to my depression. I have extra time, and a wife with a list who knows I have extra time.
She freaked out last week when she found out there still were games on TV. "I thought that Michigan-Ohio State was the last game of the year?" I had to explain Conference Championship games and their impact on Michigan's selection to a BCS Bowl.
It did not end well. I think there are some chores on the list that were put there just for punishment.
December 10th, 2011 at 12:43 PM ^
I am also watching the FCS. I'll switch over to Army-Navy, then UM hoops, then UM hockey/Red WIngs hockey. It'll be ok. :)
December 10th, 2011 at 12:53 PM ^
I was hoping there would be Game Day today too. I'm filling the void with football (NTF) that I've missed over the last several weeks because of college ball. Got up in time for the Arsenal-Everton game and I'm hoping to catch El Clásico at 4. Watching this Duke game now to kill time until the Army-Navy game.
It's a cold world right now. Can't wait for New Orleans.
December 10th, 2011 at 1:09 PM ^
Wow. Amazing catch by Montana State.
December 10th, 2011 at 1:31 PM ^
Anytime you miss football over the next nine months, just click on Wolverine Historian's YouTube channel. This should tide you over.
December 10th, 2011 at 1:36 PM ^
I think I'll take a toke right now.
December 10th, 2011 at 2:30 PM ^
I'm not the only one. I just sit idly on my couch, staring at the TV trying to find something worthwhile to watch. Sadly, nothing compares or fills the void left by D1 CFB.... sigh. You tube it is!

Sam Houston State has some fast guys! Brian would be yelling about losing contain on the edge right now.
