Minor Dunn Update: Just talked to Meyer
November 29th, 2011 at 12:20 AM ^
think that I was planning all along to trade my mgopoints for a beer at Ashley's.
November 29th, 2011 at 1:23 PM ^
it even goes further than that. When my M-Go point total goes up, my man junk looks bigger to me....When it goes down..... Shrinkage......

edit: whoops
November 28th, 2011 at 11:35 PM ^
Could've done without that last sentence. Don't be an asshole.
November 28th, 2011 at 11:38 PM ^
A-hole? Sorry I quoted a faculty member that observes his behavior every day..
November 28th, 2011 at 11:46 PM ^
Just because this person said it to you doesn't mean you've gotta say it here. Maybe he is, maybe he isn't, but he's a kid making a huge decision and to call him an attention whore for taking his time does no one any good.
November 28th, 2011 at 11:49 PM ^
Excuse my language. I meant no harm or slander with my words. I apologize. I only meant to say that he will make his decision in his own time and enjoys the pursuit of big time schools.
November 29th, 2011 at 6:49 AM ^
You said what you said..I like getting info in context .. I got your back...Some people on here act like little girls...Thanks again for that info...
November 28th, 2011 at 11:49 PM ^
November 29th, 2011 at 12:43 AM ^
Yes, same. I mean, I'm a lot older than Brionte Dunn and, hell, I'd like to be tweeting that I talked to Urban Meyer...right now. Just because it would be so random and so much more interesting than what my day was today. Or most days. Or any day. Fuck. Don't knock the kid for milking it.
November 29th, 2011 at 12:44 AM ^
This person was an OSU fan and knew that Kalis had dominated his friend's son or something like that, regularly blocking through the whistle even though the kid was a lot smaller than Kalis. This person is a very smart person (he has a PhD, and not from OSU, so he's not your normal OSU fan) and is usually very agreeable.
On the outside I said "Oh" and on the inside I said "Good."
Point is, everyone has their "side", whether it is because they whooped their friend's small son, or are switching their commitments. Everything should be taken with a grain of salt.
November 28th, 2011 at 11:40 PM ^
After seeing the backlash Kyle Kalis received, I can see why Dunn would want to keep his final decision -- if Michigan, as quiet for as long as possible. If he's going to UM, he'll be in class in Ann Arbor in about a month. That seems smart.
November 28th, 2011 at 11:47 PM ^
Very true. Kalis has taken it like a champ, and has had other Michigan commits help him through it. Very family like with this class.
November 28th, 2011 at 11:50 PM ^
November 29th, 2011 at 12:02 AM ^
The Boren family sure doesn't.
November 28th, 2011 at 11:47 PM ^
there are limits. Who in their right mind would want to expose themselves and the people close to him to anything close to what Kalis went through?
November 28th, 2011 at 11:38 PM ^
I think I'll just make this my last read of the night so that I can remain optimistic.
November 28th, 2011 at 11:39 PM ^
I can't believe I'm about to put blind trust in some random guy from the Internet..... But I am. You better not fail me
November 28th, 2011 at 11:46 PM ^
Again, I'm not trying to throw something out there to give me points. I say only what my cousin who teaches high school history at Glenoak had told me on the last holiday. He had watched, talked to, and interacted with Dunn for a couple of years now. I only repeat what he has told me.
November 29th, 2011 at 7:50 AM ^
How he acts among his peers may look like what you describe from the perspective of your cousin, but let's recognize that he's a star HS football player projecting to be a star college football player. He's probably used to getting a lot of attention.
If he was what your cousin is calling him, he'd have an open recruitment and be flying around the country to get feted by the likes of Nick Saban and everyone else who'd like to have a top notch RB in this recruiting class. And don't forget that recruits read this board. You just told Dunn, his friends or his cousin what your cousin thinks and identified him pretty well. Calling Dunn names here doesn't do anyone any good, and it certainly doesn't make the UM fanbase look very good.
It'd be nice if people didn't call HS kids that they don't know names on the internet, but i guess some people are just attention whores.
November 28th, 2011 at 11:37 PM ^
I'm so confused. What the hell is happening. I don't understand tweets.
November 28th, 2011 at 11:40 PM ^
Dunn said he just got off the phone with Meyer. Dymonte said he better go to Michigan or they're no longer cousins. Strobel and Shane retweeted it, saying ditto, in a joking way of course.
Got it?
November 28th, 2011 at 11:41 PM ^
The first tweet is Brionte Dunn. The next two are Dymonte. Then the last one is Shane responding to Tom Strobel who responded to Dymonte's tweet about them being cousins. Does that make sense?
It's confusing, but once you get on Twitter, you're used to how it works.
November 29th, 2011 at 10:05 AM ^
Thanks. It seemed that was the case, but I thought there might be more actual substance to it then just Morris, Thomas, and Strobel teasing him about committing. I should probably get a twitter account to get more accustomed with it.
November 29th, 2011 at 11:24 PM ^
You should. It's an invaluable source for information.
November 28th, 2011 at 11:38 PM ^
I jus hope he doesnt blow smoke up his u kno what.......HOKE AND CO. LETS GET DOWN TO BUSINESS
November 28th, 2011 at 11:49 PM ^
Just remember, Urban himself called Mattison the best recruiter in the country. Greg and Dan Mullen are the ones that got Tim Tebow to Florida. Now he has to fight against Greg, and possibly Dan if the rumors are true and he takes the Penn State job in the offseason.
November 28th, 2011 at 11:50 PM ^
+1 for the Kristi Malzahn reference.
November 29th, 2011 at 1:45 AM ^
i think my ears are bleeding
November 28th, 2011 at 11:39 PM ^
WOW, looks like a make it or break it deal right here. Could turn ugly~
November 28th, 2011 at 11:39 PM ^
Where has your cousin gotten that information from? Has he spoken to Dunn personally? Hopefully that is all true, however these are h.s. kids we're talking about. We all know how h.s. kids act at that age.
November 28th, 2011 at 11:41 PM ^
Again, I'm not Ace or TomVH. But just repeating what my cousin has told me
November 28th, 2011 at 11:40 PM ^
Can Meyer recruit current Michigan commits? like all the Ohio commits?
November 29th, 2011 at 12:43 AM ^
Sure, since no one is "commited" until they sign their letter of intent.
November 29th, 2011 at 8:21 AM ^
I go to check my E-Mail this morning and there he is, sigh, Urban Meyer and recruits drooling to play for him.....i am so sick and tired of seeing this crap. Who is afraid of Meyer? I say, "BRING IT"
Florida fans act like they never lost to us in the Capital One bowl in 08', but we all know it happened and Urban had Tebow, Harvin, Brandon Spikes,..etc. Now Florida fans accept that they lost and now hate him because he leaves when things get tough.
Not to mention how he did Matt Elam and Sherriff Floyd.....and the 30 arrest under Meyer's watch.
November 28th, 2011 at 11:41 PM ^
Am I alone in thinking that Urban Meyer came off as a very poor public speaker at his press conference? His rhetorical skills are lacking compared to some other big time college coaches, namely, Brady Hoke. Meyer came off as overly nervous, robotic, unsure of himself, and didn't really touch on anything that would have any OSU recruits or fans fired up.
Contrast that with Brady Hoke, who has a form of rhetoric that portrays a very passionate, sincere, and charming man who always has a big smile on his face and said right away that we "MUST BEAT OHIO" as he stared into the crowd while pounding his fist on the podium
I'm interested to hear why Meyer is so successful at recruiting because I just did not see it. Give me Brady Hoke every day of the week. As a person, as a coach, and as a representative of Michigan.
November 28th, 2011 at 11:50 PM ^
... and his "standards" were basically don't get arrested or do drugs. Lofty character goals for this fella.
November 29th, 2011 at 12:43 AM ^
Obviously that didn't hold true because one of the first things Muschamp did when he got the job was to kick off his best player in Janoris Jenkins. Can't remember many players getting kicked off Meyer's teams even with all of the arrests.
November 28th, 2011 at 11:53 PM ^
His championships came from Ron Zook recruits and players recruited and coached up by Mattison/Strong/Mullen.
November 29th, 2011 at 12:06 AM ^
Urban Meyer is a charmless non-charismatic coach. You're signing with him because you hope he can recreate Florida circa 2006 at Ohio. Not because you would run through a wall for him.
November 28th, 2011 at 11:44 PM ^
I really do. You can tell that he so badly wants to go to Ohio. Everything in his heart is telling him that he belongs there. His head however realizes (like the rest of us) that it makes no sense, especially now with the incoming spread offense and sanctions. How many big backs have put up big numbers in a spread offense? What Meyer RB has ever done anything in the NFL (or college really for that matter)? The kid is torn and having to make one of the toughest decisions of his life and I don't envy him. If he wants to be a glorified FB and rack up 600 yards a year then by all means go to Ohio though, follow your head Bri'onte.
November 28th, 2011 at 11:49 PM ^
This was kind of my argument, but we did just see our TB (Fitz) post a 1,000 yard year [and his big production didn't even start until late in the season].
Fitz could post very impressive numbers next year.
November 28th, 2011 at 11:57 PM ^
Can we stop with this "wants to go to OSU deep down in his heart" thing? We have no idea. Even if he's telling people that, which I sincerely doubt, who knows if he's telling the truth?
November 29th, 2011 at 12:05 AM ^
If he didn't really want to go to Ohio badly then what's the hold up? The only thing holding him to Ohio right now is the fact that he is a fan of their program, there is no rational reason for him wanting to go to that school in the shape it is right now. Maybe you're right and maybe I'm wrong but from where I'm sitting and all the information I've seen on him that's how it is coming across.
November 29th, 2011 at 12:25 AM ^
Maybe his heart is completely sold on Michigan (loves the coaches, fellow recruits, players, etc.) but his head tells him that if he goes to UM he'll be treated poorly every time he goes back home to Ohio. Maybe he's a head-before-heart guy and making a purely rational decision. Maybe his heart is genuinely torn and that's the hold up.
<br>We have no idea.
November 29th, 2011 at 12:34 AM ^
It's very possible you're correct, all we can do right now is speculate and I was just offering my opinion on what I have observed thusfar in his recruitment. No matter what I hope he ends up Blue because I think he can do great things here (and I'll take any chance I can to stick it to the Buckies). I just don't see how he can look at the two and not see the obvious choice if he wants to make the most of his ability but like you have said, we just don't know whats going on inside him.
November 29th, 2011 at 1:25 AM ^
Fair enough. I'm not trying to give you hell, especially on your first posts. There's a tendency around here for something to be said a few times, though, and then accepted as fact. If Dunn chooses Michigan, I don't want this "well, his heart is in Columbus" thing to stick to him.
