This board has already had one ALCS thread deleted tonight.
October 7th, 2011 at 12:21 AM ^
Geez let us enjoy the moment.
One extra thread on the forum isn't going to kill you.

Git off my lawn!
October 7th, 2011 at 1:16 AM ^
That's right. It was a good thread while it lasted too. Too bad it didn't stay up.
October 7th, 2011 at 3:11 AM ^
Hey! Look everybody! It's the asshole who always complains about Detroit threads on MGoBoard and when pressed, won't tell people where he's originally from!
Say HI!
October 7th, 2011 at 12:16 AM ^
Let me just get a Bless You Boys in quickly, in case this thread gets deleted.
And tonight, Don Kelly is my Tiger.

I admire the strength of conviction here.

"i might just become a mets fan. at least there are no expectations of winning to be let down."
Also, "good thing we have arod for another 6 years!"
October 7th, 2011 at 12:35 AM ^
I would read some Yankees schadenfreude but I figure 75% of it's just gonna be bitching about the strike zone like Game 3.
October 7th, 2011 at 12:38 AM ^
It's mostly delicious tears about their lack of offensive production from players like Rodriguez, Swisher, Texeira, and bitching about Girardi's attachment to Russell Martin, etc....
October 7th, 2011 at 12:44 AM ^
True, there's that. There's also this:
Not that I want to take anything away from Detroit, but, more than anything, this series is proof that the better team doesn’t always win in the playoffs. The Yankees outplayed the Tigers, but Detroit got the benefit of the arbitrary end points. Such is life, I guess.
"Not that I want to take anything away from Detroit, but the Yankees are still better even though they can't hit in the clutch." It's like I said earlier somewhere: Yankees fans can't accept that some outfit from some rusty flyover town somewhere west of the Hudson could be better than the mighty Yankees.
I did like this one, though:
Speaking of Mo, the greatest reliever of all time threw eight pitches in the series. Eight! David Robertson pitched 2 innings. But at least Girardi didn’t push the bullpen too hard when the Yankees trailed by 2 runs in Game 2. Left them well rested to handle the last three games of the series.
I'm detecting notes of sarcasm.
October 7th, 2011 at 1:26 AM ^
I guess someone said that it was a good thing the series was going to end in New York because there's lots to do there...
Why is it everytime Detroit does something good, there is someone that needs to piss on it?
October 7th, 2011 at 12:26 AM ^
After the emotion put into tonights game, I'm not sure I can get up for Saturday.
October 7th, 2011 at 12:30 AM ^
am I ever happy tonight. I'm gonna have to have two tv's in my room on Saturday night because I'm not flipping between my two favorite teams.
October 7th, 2011 at 1:28 AM ^
I just found out today that my friend's connection for tickets at NU fell through and I won't be able to go. I am honestly happy about that now so I can set up two TVs and do the same thing.
October 7th, 2011 at 2:28 AM ^
on my big screen, another on a decent sized tv next to it, get some beers, some boneless buffalo wings from Kroger...that's a saturday night if you ask me, buddy.

Valverde with 3 saves?
October 7th, 2011 at 12:50 AM ^
The first did not technically count as a save.
October 7th, 2011 at 12:44 AM ^
Thank Vishnu for FSD. I can just about imagine what ESPN's coverage is like.

Tigers got the front page, for now.
October 7th, 2011 at 2:32 AM ^
Dammit all. I told my roommates this, but I didn't post it on MGO. I should have, because I would have looked prophetic.
I said, "Sure, it's a picture of the Tigers celebrating for now, but just wait, by tomorrow morning it will be 'sad A-Rod face' on the front page."
Aaaaaand, sure enough:
Sad A-Rod (It's this picture but from a different angle)

sad Arod just got in the way of Happy Bearded Man

October 7th, 2011 at 9:39 AM ^
Yes. I actually like this one better because it has both Tiger happy and Yankee sad. Specificaly, A-Rod sad. Possibly the sweetest whiff I ever saw in my life. Do you realize there's nobody in that Yankee lineup I'd rather have up in that situation?
October 7th, 2011 at 11:28 AM ^
He's now the first player in MLB history to end his team's season with a strike out two years in a row. Hurray.
October 7th, 2011 at 12:42 AM ^
I wish I could stay up and celebrate even more with gallons of beer and Yankee tears, but I have to get up early. Party hard Detroit: you've earned it!
October 7th, 2011 at 12:50 AM ^
I switch over to ESPN 2 and what do I see?
-A piece on the Yankees losing.
-What will Brian Cashman do?
-A-Rod fails to come up big.
-What do Yankees need to do?
-Who will Yankees pick up in the off-season?
-Will CC opt out?
-Jorge Posada's future?
-Yankees? Yankees! Yankees?
October 7th, 2011 at 12:55 AM ^
We still won the series.
October 7th, 2011 at 12:57 AM ^
Seriously, if you were flipping channels you wouldn't even know who the Yankees lost to.
October 7th, 2011 at 1:15 AM ^
Fuck the Yankees...
October 7th, 2011 at 1:19 AM ^
Did you watch the game? I could swear that the normal Yankees crew was covering the game. Best moment: Tigers are up 2-0 and the announcers are saying that we are waiting for a blow. i'm thkning to myself..Um, there were were two blows.
October 7th, 2011 at 5:43 AM ^
It was all about how the Lakers gave it away, never about what the Pistons did to win it. They love themselves the huge-ass markets, no?
October 7th, 2011 at 7:03 AM ^
Nothing about the RED SOX?! RED SOX! When do the YANKEES and RED SOX next play? Nothing from ESPN about that? Shame!

October 7th, 2011 at 12:59 AM ^
I like our rotation against Tex.
October 7th, 2011 at 1:20 AM ^
Verlander will own Wilson on Saturday night.
October 7th, 2011 at 12:30 PM ^
Who's gonna pitch game 2 for the Tigers? Scherzer after ~40 pitches or Porcello? I'm thinking Leyland will go with Porcello and then let Scherzer pitch game 3 back at home on full rest. Haven't seen any comments from Leyland yet.
October 7th, 2011 at 1:05 AM ^
While Valverde is now a VERY impressive 50/50 in saves this season.
Alex Rodriguez, not so impressive, dropped to 3-32 with 10 k's Career vs Tigers in playoffs. He also became the first player in history to strike out to end the year in consecutive post-seasons.
October 7th, 2011 at 1:14 AM ^
Valverde had 2 saves this series, that makes him 51/51so far this year.
October 7th, 2011 at 1:20 AM ^
Are correct, It is 51/51
