I have a roku 3 and a Fire TV. Both work fine and reliably. Roku just did an update to all apps and I don't like it as much. I prefer the Fire TV. My kids use the voice commands all the time to find stuff. We have a couple echos so it's a nice ecosystem that they are used to.
I don't use the web browser much on either. It's wonky.

|02/19/2018 - 4:04pm||C work||
You're right, it was probably C work :). But I can do B work if I had the time. Not keeping up with things like maintenence, patches, and having spare parts caused extra down time.
I agree with your general sentiment, I'm just saying there are tradeoffs and it's not always cut and dry. I can do IT, it's just not worth my time. We can quibble about if it's a B or C work, but there are cases where you should say here, do this for me so I can focus on the core of my business.
|02/19/2018 - 3:43pm||Disagree with #2||
Sometimes, it's not worth the time. At my startup, the engineering team (me + 2 others) spent so much time fighting with file/login servers and our phone system that we didn't have time to work on the actual engineering we were supposed to be doing. Sometimes, it's worth outsourcing some stuff to the experts. There are tradeoffs.
|02/13/2018 - 12:50pm||Might be out of luck||
A bit of quick reading and it looks lke Windows will delete your windows.old directory or replace it with a new windows.old.The tech support was incorrect.
Like others said, windows.old was not meant to be a storate place for files. They should have been moved. I know that doesn't help now though.
I second the EaseUS suggestion above. Hopefully the files are not overwritten yet. The free trial should show what you can get before paying for it.
|02/13/2018 - 12:40pm||What recovery program?||
What recovery program did you use that created the windows.old folder? I'm assuming it was a live boot CD with some utilities. More info there might help figure out where it went.
Silly question. Have you tried searching for a file that was in windows.old to see if it just got moved somewhere else during one of your install/restore cycles?

Wow, that brings back memories. I knew him in high school and was very excited to be coming to UM with someone I knew on the football team. It was very sad when he decided to leave after his first year. I know it was hard on him.
|02/01/2018 - 1:29pm||No, you should own it||
And then never do it again. I get really annoyed at all the fans that don't watch the whole game. You only get 8 (or sometimes 6) times per year to watch them live. Why would you short change yourself??

Peter's? Really? It's his name. No apostrophe needed.
|11/20/2017 - 3:22pm||high gap vs low gap||
"At Ohio, coach Saul Phillips ran a low-gap, low-catch defense, whereas Michigan plays high-gap. Beilein noted this past week that Simmons has been caught several times in low gaps and given up threes."
Can somebody explain these to me? I've never heard these terms before.
|11/03/2017 - 7:16pm||Yes||
You can get out the same way. Traffic isn't bad on Geddes. 23 at 14/Plymouth Rd can be sometimes.
|11/03/2017 - 11:46am||second geddes, boo waze||
I take Geddes in for all games and it is great. I like the round-a-bouts. It was maddening when it was closed 2 years ago and had to take Washtenaw in. I usually park on Granger near Burns park.
I dislike waze app. Good for traffic, horrible routes when there is little or no traffic.

|08/01/2017 - 3:27pm||It's getting close||
It's getting close for me to be able to get where I want to go in an EV. Just not there yet with infrastructure and battery performance. I understand it works for some people now. But I think there a LOT of people who still have a long ways to go. Cadillac is the furthest north supercharger in all of MI...none in the UP. Traverse City and Grayling will help when they come.

Even if you're talking about the new 3 instead S, it's only 95% if all goes well:
|08/01/2017 - 1:44pm||Not completely american||
The Model S is one of the best cars ever made and it is the only one that is completely American.
What are you basing "completely American" on?
Telsa opening the Gigafactory will help, but that's still several years away.
Stop making stuff up.
|08/01/2017 - 10:55am||Come on||
"then there's no route you can possibly go that won't have a supercharger along the way."
Drive from Canton MI to Canadian Lakes MI. (23N to 96W to 127N to M-20W). Even at the end of this year, the closest one is in Lansing and I can't tell how close it will be to 127. No, I don't want to go out of my way in downtown traffic on Friday evening. It's about 170 miles. No way you can make that on one charge on a summer weekend with AC on and traffic. I make that trip several times a summer.
Yes, it's getting better. But be realistic with your conclusions.

I think it would create a lot more conversation. Notifcation of a new reply will encourage quicker responses instead of when I get back around to checking my old comments.
|05/22/2017 - 10:42am||Not true||
If you don't have a car that drive under all conditions, when it fails, people are too slow in responding. See Tesla "Autopilot" failures. Except for 1, I think all crashes are from people not taking control back when the car tells them to.

|02/21/2017 - 1:39pm||Significant part of the effort||
I am just guessing, but I assume they will be migrating user & post data so they don't lose all the history. I'm sure that's a significant portion of the effort of making the new site. Maybe that will come in chunks once the new site is released.
|02/21/2017 - 1:25pm||apps required||
While I agree you and personally use sites instead of apps often, that is a minority of users now. I'd bet a lot of people don't even know how to pin a bookmark to the home on different platforms. I know I've personally shown a lot of people how to do that.

|02/14/2017 - 2:13pm||Can't depend on V2V||
You can't depend on V2V communication for autonomy. The vehicle has to do it with just the sensors it has. With V2V you can get more information and perhaps makes the virtual driver easier to build with extra information.
Also to your point, by the time you get the fleet switched over, there will be some new technology for V2V. DSRC now, 5G next. You can never depend on all cars talking the same to all other cars.
Do autonomous driving depending soley on your own sensors. Use other V2V information if you have it to make your job easier. Autonomous vehicle != connected vehicle.
