maybe im getting a lil over excited, but this kid would be a huge get
September 6th, 2011 at 9:01 PM ^
O please O please O please.. fingers crossed
September 6th, 2011 at 9:01 PM ^
I have dreams of the following starting 5 in 2012-2013...
PG-Burke(SO)
SG-Hardaway Jr.(JR)
SF-Metrics(JR)
PF-McGary(FR)
C-Morgan(JR)
With Brundridge(SO), Horford(F/C), Robinson III(FR), and a back-up PG off the bench.
That's a contender.
September 6th, 2011 at 9:08 PM ^
Is metrics playing in front of Dewey Decimal?
I assume I phone changed Mr. Smotrycz?September 6th, 2011 at 9:12 PM ^
WHOOOOSH
September 6th, 2011 at 9:06 PM ^
I really can't see Smotcryz at the 3, we need someone who can attack the rim on the wing.
September 6th, 2011 at 9:10 PM ^
GRIII anyone?
September 6th, 2011 at 9:07 PM ^
Can't get our hopes up just yet, like some other posts have said he still hasn't taken a lot of his other visits just yet, but Saturday did nothing but REALLY help our chances with McGary! At least the rain was worth something - it was a memorable experience to say the least.
HALOL!
September 6th, 2011 at 9:09 PM ^
No doubt we would be B1G contenders if not champs. Talk about size, jeez. Metrics and GRIII is a big (and good) rotation at the 3.
Don't forget Vogrich coming on to drop some threes.
September 7th, 2011 at 8:14 AM ^
from a B1G contenders to a national championship contenders.
September 6th, 2011 at 10:15 PM ^
That is out-fucking-standing. There's literally nothing I wouldn't do to see this team here.
September 7th, 2011 at 12:38 AM ^
Literally?

I'm pretty sure McGary is a 5 in this offense, no? I think you'd have something more like this:
1 - Burke (Brundidge)
2 - Brundidge (Stauskas, Vogrich?)
3 - THJ (Vogrich, GRIII)
4 - Smotrycz (Christian, Beilfeldt)
5 - McGary / Morgan (Horford, McClimans)
This lineup does seem to lack one guard, so maybe THJ would play some two, or maybe Vogrich if his defense improves a little.

This could return us to the ranks of Heavy Hitters!
September 6th, 2011 at 9:06 PM ^
...but IF it happens...oh man, talk about vaulting our BB program into the stratosphere.
September 6th, 2011 at 9:08 PM ^
If McGary commits here I will write a 10,000 word treatise on treatises.
September 6th, 2011 at 9:33 PM ^
This could start a new thread. The "If McGary commits here I will...." thread
September 6th, 2011 at 9:12 PM ^
If he commits, cue the doughnut on the rabbits head!
September 6th, 2011 at 9:13 PM ^
McGary should come to Michigan because after all This Is Michigan.

If Hoke points to him, it's a done deal.
September 6th, 2011 at 9:14 PM ^
When is the signing day for basketball? I found that last year it was between november 10th and 17th, but I couldn't find this year.
September 6th, 2011 at 9:25 PM ^
The early signing period for this year is November 9 through November 16 (source).
September 6th, 2011 at 9:21 PM ^
Well something I said seemed to have worked, haha!
September 7th, 2011 at 12:39 AM ^
I really hope that your real life personality is nothing like your MGoBlog personality.
September 7th, 2011 at 1:17 PM ^
Did you take him for a ride in your Porsche?
September 6th, 2011 at 9:35 PM ^
Were blown away, his dad was raving about Beilein and the visit. He said it could not have gone any better and that his wife(Mitchs mother) really hit it off with the coaches wives. Mostly taken from Rivals.
September 6th, 2011 at 9:45 PM ^
a Final Four team if Mitch and Hardaway are both M. That is a tall order but I like it.
September 6th, 2011 at 9:52 PM ^
I hope to the basketball gods he comes here. Things really get interesting with a player like that on board.
September 6th, 2011 at 10:14 PM ^
webber? who else on fab 5?
September 6th, 2011 at 10:36 PM ^
Jerod Ward was the #1 ranked player in the nation when he committed to UM.
September 6th, 2011 at 10:59 PM ^
Yeah he was a stud recruit who never hit his potential. I think he got injured though. Does anyone remember?
September 6th, 2011 at 11:41 PM ^
That was right when we started to struggle. Jerod Ward was some people's #1, and Felipe Lopez was #1 to others. Felipe went to St. John's, Michigan got Ward. Lopez was a shooting guard that threw down some nice dunks. He also didn't do anything in the NBA, but he got drafted, which was more than Ward did.
I'm not really sure what happened, but he (Ward) never lived up to the hype. He was a tall guy, but he didn't have the toughness to play inside. Tough break considering he wasn't enough of a shooter to play outside. He had finesse instead of power, just not nearly enough finesse to get the job done.
This is slightly before the great Ed Martin implosion. We were already having issues before we got dinged by the NCAA . . .
BTW - Robert Traylor was pretty highly rated as well . . . .
September 6th, 2011 at 11:53 PM ^
What happened to Ward is that he tore the meniscus in his right knee his freshman year and then torn the ACL in his left the year after. He was never the same player again.
September 7th, 2011 at 11:11 AM ^
a bit weird dude... I saw him play pool at the student union ALONE many times. Also, Mich was way behind 2 schools (can't remember which) when he was announcing his school choice. Then out of nowhere, he pulled out a Mich hat and started crying... saying the god told him the night before the announcement date to go to Michigan.
September 6th, 2011 at 11:55 PM ^
...didn't help Jerod Ward @ UM. I think he had two knee injuries in his 4 year stint. FWIW, he's still playing professionally in Spain.
EDIT: Beaten to the punch by Raoul. Sigh.
September 6th, 2011 at 10:59 PM ^
Seems enthused! Would be massive, maybe the biggest pickup Beilein will ever get, including in THE FUTURE
September 6th, 2011 at 11:01 PM ^
I'm beginning to think this might happen. Said I wouldn't get my hopes up. They're in outer space right now...

September 7th, 2011 at 8:28 AM ^
It has been a while since I was excited about UM BB. Coach B has brought the enthusiasm back for me and I can't wait for the season. Go Blue Mitch!
September 7th, 2011 at 10:58 AM ^
Mitch seems like such a great fit for our program. I'm really hoping (more like praying) he comes here. He's the missing piece of a potential Final Four team. ESPN needs to update his weight though. He's easily 250 judging by the video's I've seen, and Rivals has him @ 250.
