UM Helmets Ranked #!
UM's helmets were recently ranked #1 by The Lost Lettermen. As if we didn't already know this, but it's always nice to get some outside validation. Sure beats ESPN's rankings a while back. Now let's get this season started...Go Blue!!

Yeah, they're pretty awesome...

In my bleary-eyed pre-coffee world, I saw the thread title and thought to myself, "Michigan's helmets were ranked at the factorial of the cardinality of some unmentioned set? Doesn't make a lot of sense..." Then, I realized he meant #1.

Hilarious. Posts like yours are why I read Mgoblog.

You think like that before coffee? I feel like a serious underachiever. Me before coffee thought it did say #1.

i just had a 5 hour energy, coffee and a B12 shot and i still have no idea what factorial of the cardinal set means. I did LMAO though, well done sir.

Your comment is why MGoBlog kicks Bucknuts and RCMB ass. And in honor of TP getting into the supplemental draft . . .

Just once I would like to see someone rank Delaware's helmets #1, if only to read the backlash on here...
August 19th, 2011 at 10:22 AM ^
But, Delaware's are a copy of ours.
See, you're getting a backlash already!

This is honestly one of the funniest things I've seen here in a long time. Wish I could see how many upvotes you actually have.

if we are Number 1, what is Princeton?
August 19th, 2011 at 4:17 PM ^
The design doesn't work as well with their color scheme.
August 19th, 2011 at 6:04 PM ^
It dawned on me at work today that Princeton has the same design but with a nasty color scheme. I'll stick with the maize and blue.

Our helmets have wings!!!!!!!

Our helmets got wings - glad I won't be hearing that anymore.

What was Zingerman's ranked though?

You're looking at it wrong. The '!' is not supposed to be a number. He's just excited about helmet rankings, especially the fact that our helmets are ranked. Because none of us here have ever seen an article ranking our helmets high.

They are rather attractive, though I'm also partial to those wolverine-head hats one can purchase at MDen.

But the guy who runs Lost Letterman is a Daily alum and Michigan slap. But still cool.
August 19th, 2011 at 8:34 AM ^
It's gotta be intimidating for the opposition to see that mass of maize and blue helmets on the other side of the field.
I'm glad they put a stop to the experimental oversized versions they were toying with a couple years ago. I think they were a little overdone.

Like a four year old heading out for Halloween in dad's helmet there.

<Dark Helmet takes the microphone away>
<same voice without microphone> "There's something wrong with the radar, sir."

OK, at first I thought there was some photo shopping go on there, but then I read your comment about eh experimenting on the over sized helmets.
That helmet looks ridiculous and even worse on Tate considering his size.
August 19th, 2011 at 2:43 PM ^
It's photoshopped, that just looks TOO big.
August 19th, 2011 at 6:05 PM ^
I feel sorry for the guy on the left - that helmet is bigger than he is.
August 19th, 2011 at 9:05 AM ^
I read through approx the first 50 comments after the article and while there were all kinds of outcries regarding many of those included, literally no one objected to M. One guy thought OU should be first and M second and another said tsio should be @1 because he felt they have the best fan base. That's it. Oh yea, and a number of disappointed Sparties present! A nice friday morning read!

I have never heard of Colorado's uniforms being mentioned as good, bad, or even nuetral. I can think of no college football uniform or helmet less opinion inspiring than Colorado. Strange pick at No. 10, but I like is his top five.
August 19th, 2011 at 4:18 PM ^
Really? I liked their uniforms a lot during the McCartney era. When they went to black or white pants, they screwed it up.

While we're on the subject of the #! helmet, imagine, if you will, the view from inside Michigan Stadium if instead of, or in addition to, maize-out games, some guy with more money than he knows what to do with provided game helmets for everyone.
That would look sick!
August 19th, 2011 at 2:25 PM ^
Actual helmets would be insane and quite funny, but they do sell the foam helmets.

I hear he might get to wear the number ! jersey this year.

was there ever a doubt?
August 19th, 2011 at 11:45 AM ^
Should have excluded: Tennessee, BYU, LSU, WVa, Arizona - I see nothing particularly interesting or inspiring about these helmets.
Should have included: Iowa, Virginia (it's cool, man, although their history kinda sucks), Cal, Oklahoma
Georgia should have been way higher, notre dame's helmets aren't any cooler than Navy's, PSU has a cool UNIFORM, but the helmets by themselves are just ok, imo. I'd have Texas as number 2.
michigan state has a case, but their helmets just change so darn frequently - it's the classic numbers! no, it's the classic S on one side! no, it's the classic S on both sides! no, it's the classic spartan! no, it's the classic plain helmet! with classic green! no, classic iridescent green!
August 19th, 2011 at 1:23 PM ^
Navy helmets are infinitely cooler than Notre Dame's. But I like how they put different military units on their uniforms.
August 19th, 2011 at 3:34 PM ^
I pretty much agree with everything you said. And michigan state's helmets seriously do change far too often....
August 19th, 2011 at 2:14 PM ^
The picture they use is pretty awesome too.
