he commited like last month right?

Yeah. My first reaction was "sign this kid up!" Then I checked and found out we already had. Looks like a perfect fit for Beilein's system.

His skill set is perfect for Beilein's system. He's big, can get to the basket, and can step back and hit the jumper when needed. I can't wait to see this kid in the maize and blue!

This kid is a stud.
He made 26 out of 31 from the 3.

His neighbors must be sick of hearing that stupid bouncing sound.

cool video.. pretty awesome ball handling skills

It's really good to see Beilein consistently improve his recruiting since he's gotten here. It will be interesting to see where he goes with another scholarship for 2012 (assuming that Morris or Hardaway leaves within the next two years). Stauskas and Glenn Robinson III are both really good commits.

Yes I was very sad when it appeared He was going elsewhere, but then out of the blue, Beilein reeled him in. He's going to be a good one for us.

The season tape had some nice drives going to his left. Talented kid.
April 23rd, 2011 at 11:13 PM ^
Don't know if I've seen anyone handle the ball that well.
April 23rd, 2011 at 11:15 PM ^
Pretty cool. Realized just how massive his hands are - those balls looked like the novelty ones you get from the crane games. Kid looks like a winner.

Stauskas will be a solid contributor; very nice pick up.

I like Hogan as much as the next guy...
Nik Stauskas...from the mean streets of Mississauga, Ontario.

Nice court hes dribbling on as well.

Keep practicing Nick. You are going to MICHIGAN.
/s (as in super impressive)

That is some extremely good shooting. I'm very impressed.....

when he has defenders in his face then I think he should be a pretty good addition to the team.
If there is a better shooter in the class of 2012 I'd like to see him
Granted, my school has always sucked at basketball (although we had a Michigan commit, Kendrick Price back in 2005, don't know whatever happened to them), but St. Mark's destroyed us to the tune of 56-25. God. Damn.
Regardless, I'm glad there's a kid from the ISL on UM again. I believe Courtney Sims repped the ISL here as well. Stauskas is gonna put up some numbers.

Kendric Price transferred to Delaware in 2008. He later (in 2010) played in the professional Premier Basketball League for the Vermont Frost Heaves, which not only had an outstanding team nickname but also had a team mascot named Bump the Moose.
Check out this video of the "Bump the Moose" rap song.
Nik looks legit and the future looks bright. Anyone leaving him open in the slightest will end up paying dearly.
One criticism. His dribbling drills seem to indicate a preference to practice dribbling around his right leg and not much around his left leg. I'm pretty sure Coach B will make him master both when it's all said and done. Good luck, Nik, with your stated goals.
Go blue.

Pretty consistent shooting. You can also tell his dad (or whoever that is in the video) never played basketball, based on how he rebounds and throws it back out anyways.

1. I want a backyard court like that
2. Wicked good dribbling skills
3. Great 3 point shooting

But does he have the speed and quicks to defend top D1 athletes and can he score others ways. I hope he comes in with enough strength so he doesn't get physically pushed around.

Would have liked to see him shoot from the left side of the court for the three pointer. Being a right handed kid looked like he was shooting primarily from his "sweet spot." Later on it shows he was limited to the right side of the court due to a fence thought.
Otherwise, awesome backyard film and great to hear legit stats from his mouth (height/weight).

What is crazy about the backyard video is the wind is blowing somewhat annoyingly.
April 24th, 2011 at 11:15 AM ^
He was receiving heavy Kansas interest as well.

Can you post your dribbling video? Some of those drills required a ton of coordination.
If you were trying to be real, you wouldn't lie about being able to do most of those drills. I have a basketball coach for a father and I have played basketball since I could walk and I couldn't do most of those drills. They take an amazing amount of coordination. But I am sure after 2 years of high school ball you could do them. The anonymity of the internet amazes me sometimes.
I nearly guarantee our starting point guard from last year (and hopefully next year), our best player and a possible NBA draft pick, couldn't do them....but I am sure all of the top 100 guys could do it from the class of 2012.
"I only played basketball for two years in high school and could do most of it (granted, not as fast and not making the small bounces THAT small)."
So, what you're saying is, you couldn't do any of it.
His skills were very impressive, and I really enjoyed the camera going out of frame briefly to show a lady (his mom?) chilling in a lawn chair.
What was the court made out of? Looks uber expensive.
I think they call it concrete, but I'll have to check...
hmmm....I see what you did there.
If you look closely its clearly not concrete but some type of tile. I did a little googling (i suppose I should have before even asking) and it might very well be Mateflex or Flex Court tiles. Apparently they are somewhat of an impact absorbing surface that is a lot nicer on the knees, ankles, etc. Allows one to practice longer. Go figure, learn something new everyday. Now time to google the price out of curiousity.
Yeah, after watching it in full screen I'd have to agree. At first I thought it was just stamped and stained concrete, but it clearly isn't. Sorry 'bout that.

Was Bacari Alexander his main recruiter, by any chance?
