OT - douchey MgoBlog users

Submitted by white_pony_rocks on
Let me start off by saying I know what I am getting myself into here, but it has to be said, even if it is to only get my frustrations off my chest. I am sick of the douche bags on this site. And I think it is safe to assume they are michigan students. I love this university, My aunt and uncle have season tickets and I have been going since I was 12. I always wanted to go to school here, but it's expensive and my grades weren't good enough in high school. But after living here and going to eastern, I have come to realize that the students that go here are over-privileged, whiny rich kids who don't know jack shit about the real world. It has been showing up more and more on this site, and for the longest time I tolerated people whining about posts not having the right title so they had to take 5 seconds to click on it and realize they didn't want to read it. Were so sorry we inconvenienced you, since you go to U of M you must be right and have everything your way. In fact, I'm sure that some people are going to bitch about me having to long of a post in the forum and I should have put this under diaries. Well guess what, piss off. I just witnessed a forum where people were complaining about the spelling. This blew my mind. Get a life people. Don't you realize people think you're douche bags? Well, it's because you are. Wow, so you go to Michigan, so you can spell, good for you. You think your shit don't stink. But if you were "all that" you would be going to Harvard, Wharton, or MIT., there are plenty of people smarter out there than you. So shut the hell up and post about sports or responses to OT topics, not how well you can spell, that's what first grade spelling bee's are for, or to complain about a topics title, nobody has dial-up anymore, I can click on every link on this site in under 5 min, deal with it p.s. Also, for all you michigan students who think getting hit by a car won't hurt, the world does not revolve around you. I will stop for you if you are using a designated cross walk. but if you are crossing state street and are coming out from behind a car at a random spot, either be prepared to be hit or yelled at, and if you yell back, be prepared to have something thrown at you. p.s.s. Do you think that talking about how jake long got drafted first overall will help RR get S. Henderson when he talks to him? I have always wondered if that was considered tacky to do?

I actually tend to agree with the OP. I was always a bit annoyed by the constant grammar policing here, but never really cared enough to comment about it. Using proper grammar has always been something I tried to do, but I do think it's a bit ridiculous for someone to get criticized for poor punctuation when trying to discuss something a trivial as Denard's 40 time. For the record, I was accepted into Michigan, but for a variety of reasons that I'm sure no one here cares about, I opted to attend a state school in Illinois instead. Anyways, I made my way to Ann Arbor a few times in a past 4 or 5 years and was completely taken aback by how condescending most students were when finding out I was a student at another school (that, heaven forbid, had a 1-AA football team) but still made my way out to Ann Arbor for a football game each year. I realize the small sample size I encountered does not represent the entire student population, but I just wanted to let the OP know he wasn't the only one with this experience. Someone earlier stated that there are conceited students everywhere, to which I completely agree. However, in my admittedly limited experience, every other Big 10 school I've visited (Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, Northwestern, and Purdue), pales in comparison in terms of the level of conceit and entitlement, with the possible exception of Northwestern. Whether that is anyone else's opinion, I am not sure, but I just wanted to put in my two cents and let you all know that this is the image, warranted or not, that many project onto you as students or alumni. P.S. While I got accepted into Michigan, Illinois flat out rejected me. It's just one instance, but for those of you thinking Michigan and Penn are equals, you might want to think again.

not to start something else, but plenty of people i know in west michigan get denied from grand valley but accepted at MSU and GVSU students sometimes like to say that means they are a better school than MSU. for several reasons, that isn't true. acceptance to one school vs another inst a very good indicator of academics

Maybe you could hit a few too for good measure. It's the circle of life. EMU student runs over a few arrogant snobby Michigan students, Michigan student runs over some of those damn conceited Wildcats. Now, who do the Wildcats run over? Stanford students?

this thread blew up in the time I left work and went out to play hockey. I'm only replying to offer my thanks to those that left kind words. Thanks. Life goes on, I get by. I sometimes fight for my place on this planet, but don't we all?

Just kidding. I was wanting to point out that the defense of proper English isn't owned by rich, whiny, spoiled brats, but your example far exceeds anything I could have offered. It's an amazing story, and you should be proud of what you've achieved. Just make sure errors like the one above don't happen again.

[flippant rant about douches that correct grammar] [long-winded, baseless arguments without point] [questioning of previous poster's sexual orientation] [insincere vow/empty threat to never return to website again] [similar warning telling previous poster to not even bother responding because it won't be read]

"OT topics" is redundant What's worse: arrogant, rich, smart people, or angry average people with huge chips on their shoulder's that hate everything and everyone?

in keeping with the theme of this thread, and the 5 beers I drank at ABC, it's "shoulders" - nothing possessive about shoulders in your statement. Also, how many of you have seen the grammar correction on the wall of the 1st floor men's bathroom of ABC? I always thought it was great, and especially thought so tonight.

You know, I didn't go to Michigan. But my DAD did. And he's a LAWYER, and just you wait til HE hears about this. I'm actually gonna go in to work today at the job he got me at the firm JUST to show him this thread. He'll sue you for so much money that he'll be able to buy me a new Benz, 'cause I smashed the old one on a tree.

This isn't a dig, but seriously... do you? 20 second long interactions with UM students while making food, combined with complaining about State Street jaywalkers makes me think one of the sandwich shops on the main campus drag. I was leaning towards JJ, but you mentioned having to ask what sort of sandwich a customer has, which JJ doesn't do and Potbelly does in order to ring you up. Amers has more non-student customers than student, Cosi's interactions last longer than 20 seconds, and Redhawk is sit down. I'm ruling out the Philly sub shop or whatever it is, because no one goes there. That leaves only Chipotle and Potbelly, and the workers I see at Potbelly seem more like Deftones listeners than Chipotle's people. So, Potbelly? This is the sort of knowledge you acquire when your number of cheap sandwiches consumed between classes is so large as to be measured in scientific notation.

So, in summation: If you're a current Michigan student, I'd steer clear of Potbelly's or any other State Street eatery. There is an extremely angry EMU student spitting (or worse) in your Wreck.

I'm leaving another comment just to bump this thing back up to the top. Because that's where this masterpiece belongs. I believe that we have reached the pinnacle of internet posting here. Not just in regards to the OP, but with the wide array of smart-ass replies, angry replies and downright disturbing ones. Internet, this is your retirement swan song.

Nice. They would be really awesome if you could have your username printed on top of the back, like the last name on a jersey. I would have to hide it from my girlfriend though, she would drop be like a bad habit if she found it.

Just like the military, it needs ribbon bars on the left chest. Medals could be presented for: Grammar Nazi - ten confirmed kills. Maintaining a condescending air in the face of extreme ignorance. Going above and beyond the call to arrogance. et al

One of the best posts EVER on any sports or non-sports blog...period. I didn't even go to M and I understand that the author has a unique insight that we have never considered before. I guess my education at Penn State was good for something after all.

"I'm sure that some people are going to bitch about me having to long of a post"

First of all, it's "too long of a post."

Second of all, this post was too long.
