Two people on the show, Rashida Jones (who plays Ann Perkins) and Rob Lowe (who plays Chris Traeger) are being written out of the show, and in the storyline they are moving to Ann Arbor, where IIRC Chris says he has a new job lined up at Michigan, which is why he said "Go Blue!" I thought it was great.
It should also be noted that the character Councilman Jeremy Jamm, D.D.S. is played by Jon Glaser, a Michigan graduate.
"He should wear a headset Y U NO WEAR HEAD SET?" contingent. Like, what exactly is not being communicated to Al that Devin can't communicate to him when we see him talking to someone on the phone on the sidelines? Or is that just Devin ordering a pizza? And does Al not see the same game Brady and everyone else is seeing? Can he not make adjustments to the game plan as needed? Does he need the head coach's permission to make in-game adjustments? And what exactly does Hoke barking at Al Borges on a headset do except give some people a sense of relief/satisfaction that "the coach is doing something," which in this case would simply be yelling at his offensive coordinator when plays go bad? And I don't exactly buy the "it would show that they're in constant communication" argument, either. Borges sees the game, he talks to Devin, and apparently there's someone who is near Brady who has access to Borges if Brady needs it. So yeah, I'm just not on board with this whole "why is he not wearing a HEADSET dammit!" deal...
Granted, they still have to prove it out on the field, but I'm loving the accountability to the point where Taylor's disagreeing with Devin about whose fault this was...
"Hey, man, don't say 'That's Gay'!!!" commercials starring Grant Hill 3 years ago... right or wrong, someone in the NBA office equated "no homo" with "That's Gay," and here we are with Mr. Hibbert...
Usually when someone says "no homo," it's done in a "joking" manner, as in "ha ha, don't take what I said as being gay, tee hee wink wink"
It's rather juvenile
Hibbert was less concerned with his words being interpreted correctly than he was with being funny. He thought he was making a jokey joke, failed miserably and paid the price as a result
He should have just said "Pause" like Spike did...
that Darius is not doing himself any favors out there on the court. Blame Kobe's ball-hogging all you like, but that's not the problem with Darius. The problem with Darius is that he tries to do too much with the ball. His play is best described as being "aggressively out of control" at times. There are moments when he runs the offense efficiently, and takes decent shots, but IMO they have been few and far between. And he's a bit of a liability on the defensive end, but that's been covered up by the fact that the Lakers as a whole are an awful defensive team.
He's far too inconsistent on both ends of the floor at this stage of the game, when some stability is seriously needed at the point guard position; hence, Duhon's starting and other possessions where Kobe is the guy bringing the ball up court. It also helps, of course, that Duhon is familiar with D'Antoni's offensive system and can direct guys to their proper positions in the set.
Darius seems to be willing to learn and improve as a player (he has praised Kobe and others on the team for being great teachers), and he apparently gets high marks from teammates for that reason, but the reality is that it's tough to learn on the fly while playing for a franchise with astronomically high expectations of not just winning, but winning RIGHT NOW.
I think it's only a matter of time before he's traded. I don't think that he should be, since he gives the Lakers some athleticism that they are sorely lacking. The only way it's justified is if the Lakers get some better athleticism/shooting/decent defense in return.
I found myself agreeing with a few of Bilas' thoughts on the flopping that our guys were doing... but he was also quick to note when Ohio players got away with travels and fouls as well... and come on, he joked how he "committed" when he walked onto the Michigan Stadium football field, saying that it was "really neat" and he also seemed to really dig Denard, calling him "a great quarterback" and "a great kid" and talking about how fun he was on Gameday... point being, he didn't have it in for us as much as this thread is trying to suggest...
the refs weren't the ones calling run plays into Iowa's 8-man defensive front
The refs weren't the ones who decided to go to the spread when only when we were down late
Sorry, guys, I know we're all incredibly frustrated, but for me it's not just with the officiating, but also with our offensive coordinator, who just refuses to get out of his own way
the number 1? Does Anthony Carter automatically get selected, or does someone like Braylon put up a protest? Does the player have a say in which person's patch he wears? How does something like that work?
Hopefully I'll get to see him play out here... he's obviously going to need some work, but I like the pick, as with any luck he'll be able to run this offense in 2-3 years... I like Bilas, but it sounded like he was bagging on Darius for not being Magic... but hell, who is?
Compare Webber's reaction to getting blown out by Duke to the one after the Carolina game... just stunning... I'm so happy for Jalen Rose... and I was watching the film and following along on Twitter and I have to tell you, I was touched to see a few of the current Wolverines (like Tim Hardaway, Jr.) promising to put up banners that won't be taken down and others asking C-Webb to "come home"...
I also liked how the doc touched on the notion that these guys weren't just slam dunkin', trash-talkin' renegades who ignored their coach... they knew and respected the game, and were coached well and listened to Coach Fisher (at least most of the time, they did)...
Only down note for me was hearing my roommate's boyfriend, a USC grad, laughing during C-Webb's long walk to the locker room after the Carolina game... but he'll be dealt with in short order...
Anyway, make no mistake, this was not just a great night for Jalen Rose and the legacy of the Fab Five, but for the University of Michigan...
I just love the way this team plays. They talk on defense, they make the proper rotations, everyone's moving... just a beautiful thing to watch.
Offensively... well... lol... let's just say there's lots of cringing going on when shots go up... but that's fine, I love the confidence our shooters have...
I still believe we need at least 1 more win in the Big 10 tournament to solidify ourselves in the big one... I'd rather not be a play-in team...
Big win today. If this team is this fun to watch now... wow...
As of now, production of the show has been cancelled for the rest of the season. CBS and Warner Bros. have not gone back on that decision, even if Charlie says he's going to show up.
"burning his bridges" and "speaking negatively" and "making excuses" about his time at Michigan. All of the clips/quotes I've seen/read have been nothing short of classy on his part. The only twinge of bitterness one can detect, if possible, is when he said that he regretted not being able to finish what he started here.
And even if he did "go in" on Dave Brandon and Michigan football, it wouldn't prevent him from getting another high-profile job. Rich Rod could make a diss record about Michigan today and would still land on his feet somewhere. A good coach is a good coach, and (allegedly) tarnishing/disparaging the Michigan name wouldn't prevent another AD from hiring him. Hell, some AD's would hire him and encourage him to talk more trash about Michigan. We're not universally beloved, people.
Of course it's the "Meet Cute" where he's saying all the right things, but... I get the sense that, overall record be damned, he's got the passion needed for the job...
that some people (ie, the fanbase) act as if the arrival of Rich Rod also ushered in an era of Michigan defense that hasn't been up to snuff, that it's been the only time when our defense has been terrible (or in Desmond's words, "hot garbage")
And I guess he's wrong if you look strictly at the numbers
But on the other hand, I certainly can remember many years after '97 where some of the fanbase was calling for Jim Herrmann's or Ron English's head...

My God, this whole deal is really f'n stupid.
What a hacky, pandering piece of work.
Eric Stonestreet - Cameron from Modern Family - is a K-State grad. Wouldn't be shocked if he's on the sideline and interviewed during the game...
But only for the video
And we should be sufficiently motivated to knock them on their @sses next season in East Lansing...
THERE'S the punch to the soul dong that we were looking for today...

I welcome any and all references to it in any kind of writing. Nicely done.

One of my favorite quotes from him regarding film writing is "It's not what a film is about, but how it is about it."
He will be missed.
I'm just on the lookout for a couple of tickets to Saturday's and Monday night's action
Bacari was right!!!!!!!
I'm like Steve Kerr, I don't believe what I just saw...
Because no, that's why.
That wasn't "good Wisconsin defense" at all, that was all terrible shot selection and turnovers. Good Lord.
This is the kind of loss that makes one want to have a drink, or 70, even though I have to be at work at 8am...
So shall it be.

I especially love the live pub report from South Bend
I wish I were making that up
I hate life right now
Not gonna happen. Sorry.
For real!

Al Borges has declined to call play action on 1st down because... why?
I'm out here in L.A. so hopefully I'll be able to catch a few Arizona games on TV out here. I'll be rooting for him.

Then I play videogames where I can "avenge" the losses

Technically, this film is not a "30 for 30" production. It's from some of the same producers, but that series is done...

from the Northwestern game in '97
That was the day the Stanley Cup was brought to Michigan Stadium, so that was cool
Of course it's the "Meet Cute" where he's saying all the right things, but... I get the sense that, overall record be damned, he's got the passion needed for the job...
a "Help Wanted" sign somewhere on it
That would make it even more awesome...
Saying something to the effect of, "What's this college offense where the QB doesn't run the football, I'm confused"...

No, really, f*ck that whole team.
Speaking of which, is it me or does he laugh like he just finished smoking the greatest joint ever?
It's actually fine, I just felt like typing that for once...
And LOL @ Val's comment at the bottom of the article...
