"Jim's a tough guy and you can see his personality is all over this football team," Fitzgerald said.
Awful start time against a pretty much nobody. No prestige. Would much have preferred Georgia on New Year's Day.
Only upside - better chance of winning.
Which no one will care about.
Speak for yourself. I still care about winning.
I see what you did there :)
Kansas State was in a BCS Bowl last year
Rabble Rabble fire everyone.
Heh. Rabble Rabble keep everyone.
KSU lost to North Dakota State, a FCS team. Granted they're an equivalent to Appy State when they won the Horror game......
"Pretty much nobody"???
KSU has been good for a long time. Bill Snyder is a great coach with a terrific track record in the Big 12. The only time KSU is down is when Snyder temporarily retires. KSU is Iowa, only better. Iowa has beaten Michigan alot lately.
Alternate universe, save me !
yeah, at least I'll be sleeping
.....it's on a Saturday night.
Okay with me. Frees me up to watch Winter Classic on NYD. Let's Go Red Wings.
Instead of us playing on New Year's, I can just focus on watching the Wings/Leafs game without flipping back and forth with our game at the same time.
/not a road game
That hopefully carries the offensive momentum into next year
I cant imagine the uproar if We do not perform the way we did against Ohio or bettet Offensively
Not so sure about it being an easy win. KSU is also 7-5 and also had a bunch of close losses to better teams.
Double digit losses most games. Lost to an FCS. Their best win was against a 7-5 team. In my estimation, this is a cake team. We should blow their doors off.
K-State destroyed Texas Tech and played everyone tough. Their worst loss was by 10 points. I think we'll beat them if the offense can do most of what it did against OSU, but it won't be easy.
Really don't know where you're coming from on this one. They lost to three top-tenish teams, a desperate Texas team and the most dominant FCS team over the last three years. There isn't a loss like Penn State or Iowa on the schedule and nothing as bad as our near disasters against Akron and UConn.
I think this is a very winnable game, but nobody should be expecting a cake walk.
Wait, did you actually WATCH our games this year???
You know that we BARELY beat Akron and UConn, right???
Bowl games mean more practice, more national exposure, another "perk" as you recruit. Considering the year we had, it was about as good as we should expect. Now we just need to win! Go Blue!!!
...much like the season.
4 years ago we lost by 40 to Mississippi State in the Gator Bowl to go 7-6, capping a three year stretch in which we lost 22 games.
Yeah right, dude. You think I'm falling for that?
Three years and six days ago, our coach broke down in tears singing Josh Groban after a blowout loss to Ohio State.
In these parts
Michigan has NEVER played in a non-January bowl game against a non-POWERHOUSE program in our entire history
We never played, for example, Colorado State in a bowl game in December at any point.
I dont know what the date of the bowl was but the Holiday bowl vs BYU in 84 was no great shakes.
EDIT: Just looked it up, it was Dec 21.
Never is a long time my friend.
Is not your friend.
Based on the board I thought history started whenever you wanted to make a point.
i.e., our recruiting is doomed because the team went 7-5 this year
Sparty has won 5 of 6 vs. Michigan (or) Michigan vs. Sparty is deadlocked at 5-5 in the last 10
That's just general internet history.
After beating us in the Holiday Bowl in 1984. I was at that game. We were 6-6 and
gave them a game for a while. So technically the guy is right. BYU was a powerhouse team that year.
The game he sarcastically referenced (Holiday Bowl '94) would have been during your time in school, no?
I wonder, how often has that happened in year three of a regime?
so then why do you care if we're in this bowl or the Capital One Bowl?
Denard and Colin Klein. Oh wait.......
A very "meh" matchup to an equally meh season.
At least we'll finally be able to get our MANBALL on!!!
K-State went 5-4 in a bad Big12. Their win margin was 7.67 points per game. Michigan went 3-5 in an average B1G. Their win margin was actually 2.38 points per game in conference, meaning that even at 3-5, we outscored our opponents in conference. My metrics say Michigan should be a 9 point favorite. I'll have a diary with why coming up this week.
We deserved and will probably make us better in the long run, or at least hungrier.
How can any Mich fan this season possibly say this will be an easy win. Are we playing Kansas?
The "easy win" crowd has not watched UM football this year. The only easy wins we had were in September.
KState lost to ND State (LOL) but lost to Texas by 10, Ok State by 4, Baylor by 10, and Oklahoma by 10. Throw out the ND State game (aka throw away the UM game vs Akron) and those are pretty decent losses.
If UM played Baylor would we lose by 10? OK state by 4? Depends which UM shows up - if it was the ND or OSU Michigan yes. If it was the Nebraska, Iowa, NW UM not even close.
This looks like a pick em game or KSU favored by 1-2. Due to brand name the money will come in to michigan I am sure whatever the line is but this is no easy win.
Brian should do a video preview with K-State Mask on YouTube!!!!
