I wish Spike the best. It really was a fun time with him here - he'll always have that Michigan degree and we'll always have some great highlights from that championship run.
I don't know that we've had a solid update on him healthwsie lately - I would hope that he got a chance to see the court again, even if he couldn't do it every day.

It might be a good thing then that I'll be at work at 10 AM and unable to recreate the fact that I showed up TO the 2008 Michigan-Wisconsin game pre-blasted because I somehow felt like expressing my feelings about that season through drink at a tailgate just hours before. That being said, it did make the first three quarters that much more palatable and the fourth quarter that much more exciting.

Speaking of that, didn't the Mercury Zephyr travel down the same line as the Ford Fairmont? Fairmont was a bit misleading, as the name sounds halfway elegant and the Fairmont was....not that at all.
I had the same problem with the Mercury Lynx, because if you're going to name a car after a cat, it should be cat-like, not Escort-like.
Also, didn't VW name a car Sharan Carat? WTF?

In that thread is what might be arguably a Top Ten meltdown by the OP as well, no offense to Champeen, of course. I don't think there was any way that question was NOT going to come through with all sorts of creepy undertones, but be damned if he tried to tell us that they didn't exist in the request made - quite strenuously, I might add.

While they recruit in each other's backyard - that is, a fair number of Rutgers players seem to be from central / eastern Pennsylvania and a fair amount of Penn State's roster seems to come out of New Jersey - yeah, I don't know that this was ever much of a football rivalry. I think Rutgers has a pretty long-standing rivalry with Navy though, not that this matters for Big Ten purposes. They might have the single poorest record of attempting to create rivalries in the Big Ten, in fact. I mean, who is it in hoops? Seton Hall maybe?

The Cornell Mann Earth Band was a lesser known cover band, somewhat famous for their minor hit "Binded On The Right", which was a song about a production error at a printing facility. It's a shame that it never got wide airplay, but then a similarly named band managed to get a song with a lyrically close title on the radio just a few hours prior to their release.

I've done this with Tigers tickets too when I've had the packages. It's relatively easy to do and very useful when you know well in advance that you won't be able to go to certain games - my wife has the "family calendar" out 12 months, so I've become well-acquainted with the phrase "you won't be going to that game", which is usually followed by the phrase "why the hell not?" because I start off with no clue.

How did they lose a game?
I think the premature labelling of Urban Meyer as "an overrated tool" probably is what sent this thread spiralling downward from the beginning.

This year, it's in the Cloud. More to the point, it is in the Cloud which will cover the southwest portion of Defiance, Ohio on June 3rd from 2 PM to 3 PM.
In all seriousness though, the Kickstarter probably should have been out, even done by now so my assumption is that this might be done via different means perhaps this year. I know it is being written as we type from the passing references to its progress on MGoTwitter.

I mean, you unceremoniously grab a trophy from Archie Griffin, you openly compare yourself to Tom Brady in an interview when you have exactly zero games on your NFL resume to date, and mix that with some other incidents and yeah, there might be a solid case there for questioning the actual leadership abilities of a certain quarterback.

I was hoping Ojemudia would get a shot with someone - it was such a shame when he was injured during the Maryland game because I think he was well on his way to having an excellent season and probably finding his way into the Draft proper. All the same, excellent pickup for the Ravens, in my opinion, and nice to see Michigan players playing for, well, another Harbaugh.
|2 days 2 hours ago||Starting Off Right...||
Non-story but posting anyway - SEC shill ESPN subtly digging at Harbaugh....
Usually, I don't like to start my day with Mod Sticky stuff, but yeah, this one wasn't going well.

You definitely don't see them here in southeastern Michigan much if at all, and indeed it is raining tonight, so sadly looking up will only produce a wet sensation.
Of course, by me, you have enough light pollution from Detroit Metro Airport that observing anything in the sky is an iffy proposition. We've got a telescope but we almost need to go out to the Metroparks near us to get detailed observations.
|2 days 13 hours ago||Good News...||
More good news for Wolverines is always nice to hear.
At least for me, expectations were very tempered for this draft when it comes to Michigan, but there have been a couple pleasant surprises - two of them involving the Lions, which works for me - so between that and seeing more guys find some homes as free agents, I think we can walk away pleased given what I think the baseline expectations were.
|2 days 14 hours ago||Their Draft...||
Cleveland's draft was interesting, to say the least, especially - what was it - four receivers and a tight end, with most of that occurring in the fifth round. Working from memory there, so I could be wrong, but that's what I recall.
Although, I suppose reputation has its disadvantages - Corey Coleman looked as if he was being sentenced to Cleveland. Perhaps he already knew by showtime, but he seemed introspective about the prospect.
|2 days 16 hours ago||I Like This...||
The Rudock pick definitely helps and it is another position where the Lions need some depth, but I will say that even though it is young yet, I am liking the Bob Quinn era so far. I think that the Lions have done what I hoped they would do and got this mostly right by going with needs and skipping the whole "best player available" philosophy.
|2 days 17 hours ago||Ah, Adidas...||
I realize that this is probably standard contract verbiage, particularly when it comes to transitions, but I knew we could definitely count on Adidas to be with us until July 31st at 11:59:59 PM - it seemed like the only end to this particular chapter that would be allowed for some reason.

Happy to see WIllie Henry go to a team that could use him rather quickly in a system that should suit his talents well.
Like others here, I still kind of wish he would have been able to hang out one more year in Ann Arbor, but I think he'll do well at the next level all the same.

The NFL Draft threads are a place where all of us can be happy or sad regardless of team affiliation, and I am happy to see a Wolverine drafted and happy to see that he will be only travelling up the road to Allen Park to report to practice this summer. Congratulations to Graham.
Let's remember that at least most of us are united in our hatred of Roger Goodell and run with that.
|3 days 13 hours ago||Ragland To Buffalo...||
I like that Ragland seemed so excited to go to Buffalo that he stayed tuned into whatever conversation he was having on the phone. Not quite as bad as Corey Coleman last night, who when drafted by Cleveland looked at the stage as if Goodell had just pronounced sentence for something.
|3 days 16 hours ago||That Shirt...||
I will say that this shirt has not deterred my kids from asking why Michigan does not have a mascot, even though they can clearly see on the shirt why it might be an unfortuante idea and more trouble than it is worth. I think that now - at nearly 10 and 9 years of age - I can try to explain my general horror at the mere mention of a mascot.
|3 days 18 hours ago||Very Nice...||
+1 for well-executed MST3K reference.
That reminds me, the kids have not seen "Eegah" yet, although that will have to come after Michigan baseball this weekend as we'll be stopping by to catch the action as well.
|3 days 19 hours ago||Good Article...||
"It’s truly astounding the number of awful things that occur in this world because men are afraid of appearing weak."
It's awesome that this was in a very large typeface in the article because it is true, in my own estimation. One thing that I personally cannot stand is when people still say things or even justify things in the "boys will be boys" way because it tells me that - first and foremost - your opinion of those boys is alarmingly low anyway (or your expectations for them are low), and more to the point, in your mind there is some distinction between "male" behavior and, say, "being a civil human being".
It's very easy to have the "boys will be boys" gripe at events with other fathers, come to think of it, when your shirt has Rainbow Dash on it. At least they know you're sincere in your disgust.
|3 days 22 hours ago||Poor Hugh...||
High Freeze has had a bad stretch here - the satellite camp ban was rescinded so now he has to tear himself away from family activities to earn a few million per year then one of his players shows off some engineering acumen with a gas mask bong then admits that perhaps he did take some money from someone. I certainly don't blame Hugh for being a little defensive about the things for which we may be able to blame him in part - that's part of being a forever aggrieved SEC coach / executive / fan / financier / insert occupation.
I hope more things come out about Ole Miss honestly. This is fun.
|4 days 56 min ago||Cool Story Indeed...||
It was the very end of the visit and we were sitting down with Coach Beilein and he said ‘what would be your interest level be if I offered you a scholarship?’ I said 10 out of 10! And then he said ‘how would you feel if I offered you a scholarship?’, and I said good! Coach Beilein then stood up and said ‘I’d like to offer you a full scholarship to U of M’, and shook my hand.
While I personally tend to glaze over the background stories that go with recruiting, it is fun to stop and read one now and again. I read Cain's just now and I thought that was actually kind of a fun way to introduce the offer on the part of Beilein, and the praise for Beilein as a person is always great to read no matter what you might think about the state of the program.

Sadly, it is a very subdued Friday at home - we lost one of our cats yesterday to what they believe is hepatic lipidosis, which is where fat begins to metabolize and collect in the liver and it can lead to failure, as it did in this case. She was a good cat and she will be missed by us and her furry friends in the house. Yesterday afternoon was rough, especially the part where we explained this to the kids (Ariel died a little after noon, so they were at school).
On a brighter note, the satellite camp ban being removed is definitely the headline of the week, and good on the NCAA Board Of Directors for once. I can't wait to see what the next round of "Harbaugh vs. SEC" one of these days.
