Funny to hear Marcus Ray pull a hard 180, from his full support of Hoke and his staff at the end of last season to finally admitting how poorly coached the team had been in previous years. I seriously feel terrible for the players - to put so much energy into the sport and not have the coaching to support it, those are years of coaching and improvement that they can't get back. Bummer.

It's actually weird how the basketball and football coaching changes of the past decade or so mirror each other. Ellerbe:Amaker:Beilein = RichRod:Hoke:Harbaugh
Ellerbe and RichRod both recruited decently, but as people never seemed to quite fit in, had some brushes with rules issues and had recruiting practices that the university as an institution didn't love. They were both fired for
Amaker & Hoke - 2 squeaky clean men, great guys, focus on academics, but never could quite do enough with the talent that they had. There was some promise based on success at smaller schools, but it never translated at this level. Despite their records, both men did a wonderful job of stabilizing the program, but were fired and replaced by
Beilein & Harbaugh - 2 legends In their own regard. Focus not only on academics but on doing things the right way, and seem to be great at identifying and developing talent both with players and staff.
Hopefully the parallel will be solidified by Harbaugh winning some championships in the next few years.

The improvement for both Dawkins and Chatman the past few weeks has been so much fun to watch. Add Lavert, Walton, and Duncan Robinson to this team for next year...but the key is just hoping that Doyle makes a big enough leap to shore up the 5...if so, it could be a great group.

This is 100% stages. That guy is part of an improv group in Minnesota. He did a workshop with my office a few years ago where he talked about the 2003 one being staged.

This article is just quotes from the mgoblue video that was posted earlier. That being said, still awesome that it is getting national coverage....

After listening to that interview, it's blatantly clear that these kids have no idea what they're doing. Just from the jargon language they use, you can tell these kids are approaching this from an "MBA-look-good-on-my-resume" standpoint, without thinking about why they are doing it, or what the actual need is, or who they are actually serving.
Also - don't ask people for $$$$ for this. If you want to write a song, just write a song. If it's good, other people will get involved. Let it be organic, let it come from their hearts...they don't need all of this campaign BS - JUST DO IT - like every other musician has ever done. But to ask people to donate actual money to support it????? No.

This is all on the media. It's borderline harrassment what they are doing to him, and it's disgusting. He doesn't want to speak to them, get over it - why are they so desperate? Marshawn seems like a good dude, doesn't cause issues, and is one of the most entertaining players in the league to watch. Just let him be, and go make up some other story.

This is actually a smart move...if anyone can relate to TJs position it's the guy who also has a dad on the coaching staff...they can relate on that unique level.

Wiley on the radio in LA now sticking to his guns, reading the texts out loud that Jim is headed to Michigam after the season...giving the details without revealing the source. He's saying contract was signed in a meeting last week.

My mom was an academic advisor at Michigan, and has worked with many athletes. I can say pretty confidently that a 15 minute academic session is not the norm at Michigan. Thankfully.

Was really pulling for Pelini here for purely comerdic reasons.
|15 weeks 6 days ago||Honestly, I'm happy that||
Honestly, I'm happy that Michigan doesn't operate like this. Nebraska didn't ask the OSU AD for permission before talking to Riley. Also, the players and coaches all seemed pretty upset that the Nebraska AD told them via email while he was out of town.
And did anyone else think that Eichorst came off as a total tool? "Yah bro, I doubled my work out to twice a day - gotta pump the iron for this coaching search..."
You have to give Hackett credit for handling things in what seems like a respectful manner so far...
|16 weeks 2 days ago||San Fran could actually be||
San Fran could actually be eliminated from the playoffs next week. If Green Bay beata Atlanta tonight, and next week Seattle beats SF and Detroit beats Minnesota, they're out. All 3 of those teams will be favored...although for the large number of Michigan/Lions fans it would be fitting for Detroit to lose next week...
|17 weeks 2 days ago||Of course its not Devins||
Of course its not Devins fault, and there are a million other "butterfly effect" moments that can happen in the game. Maybe if Devin Sprints left there instead of juking he breaks his leg...who knows? And it's impossoble to know if his ACL would have torn otherwise. Its just an observation, and It was frustrating in the moment in the shit storm that is this season.
|17 weeks 2 days ago||No way Devin could have known||
No way Devin could have known this, but this is likely prevented if Devin just runs straight for the end zone instead of trying to juke the defender on the previous play. He had the speed and room...he would have scored and the next play would have been the PAT and not Drakes run. Not his fault, but an unfortunate circumstance and consequence.
|18 weeks 3 days ago||Yes, that is their job. But||
Yes, that is their job. But we've all played backyard football. It gets frustrating when there's no hope of a good ball even coming your way. And imagine how much more frustrated you'd be if you spent all off-season and every day practicing...our receivers seemed to be alright at the beginning of the season, at this point I don't blame them for being fatigued.
|18 weeks 3 days ago||Not to exonerate the||
Not to exonerate the receivers, but it must be so frustrating for them knowing that there's almost no way they are ever going to get an accurate pass their way, or that they could be wide open waving their arms and Gardner still won't find them. You have to imagine that it plays into them being a little checked out.
|18 weeks 3 days ago||Truer words...||
"For the sake of Michigan football, though, this may have been for the best."
Nailed it. It's unfortuante for the seniors and for a visibly shaken Hoke, but in the long term, losing this game takes the pressure off of everyone, and allows us to move forward.

I almost went to ASU for grad school. It's a nice campus, but holy hell their summer is as hot as our winter is cold...It's a good institution, though. Good for them, and good for hockey.
|19 weeks 3 days ago||Especially deserved it after||
Especially deserved it after that terrible pass interference call to give ND a first down. Amazing. Should we be happy that we held a NW team that beat Wisco and ND to 9 points, or sad that we couldn't even score on an ND defense that just gave up 43 to NW? The world makes no sense.
|19 weeks 5 days ago||OSU?||
Interesting to note 0 plays against Ohio State in there. I don't remember his performance against OSU while he was here, but is it because those clips just weren't included, or did he not really have any big plays in those games?
|20 weeks 3 days ago||So Hoke is completely void of||
So Hoke is completely void of responsibility for player performance, right? He has nothing to do with the lack of player development, or the recruiting of these players? DG has gotten worse year-over-year - that's coaching. None of our running backs can find holes, which is either bad coaching or bad recruiting, aka bad coaching. Texas A&M is starting a freshman QB and 10 freshmen on defense and beat Auburn today. Ohio State has a very young OL and a redshirt freshman QB and is playing great. Good coaches know how to get the most out of their players, and show improvment over the course of the season. When is the last time we outcoached a team, or looked more prepared than the other team? Not once under Hoke. But of course, you played football and are a Griffindor or something, so you know best.
|1 year 12 weeks ago||Most impressive, more than||
Most impressive, more than their defense, was how their offense improved over the course of the season. Their coaches clearly know how to get the maximum performance out of their team....
|1 year 31 weeks ago||Good Choices||
All 4 guys are guys who have endured adveristy and made sacrifices for the team:
Lewan - turned down a 1st round draft spot to win a big ten championship.
Gordon - multiple position switches, relegated to back up, then comes in after Ryan goes down, and works his tail off to get on the field.
Avery - displaced by underclassmen, and now position switching after Thomas came in as a freshman to move him out of nickle.
Ryan - Torn ACL, but doesn't get discouraged and does everything he can to get back on the field, plus I'm guessing he's been quite motivating.
And that's just the stuff we know about. Either way, when dealing with the quality men we have on our team, there were probably no wrong choices.
