Not like any other players have it right? And playing tonight will keep Michigan safe, right?
Here we go...
January 22nd, 2021 at 5:21 PM ^
Uh oh....postpone chances 50%???
January 22nd, 2021 at 6:57 PM ^
This game is happening. The caterer has been paid.
January 22nd, 2021 at 5:23 PM ^
Oh boy, I hope our guys don't get infected somehow, crossing my fingers!
I might not mind If they postponed this game for safety reasons.
January 22nd, 2021 at 7:29 PM ^
They really shouldn’t play tonight
January 22nd, 2021 at 5:23 PM ^
Is she any good?
January 22nd, 2021 at 5:23 PM ^
Push the game back to Sunday or Monday or Tuesday. Neither team plays another game until next Saturday.
EDIT: Missed the thread below. At least push it to Sunday night.
January 22nd, 2021 at 5:53 PM ^
The postponed Penn State game was rescheduled for Wednesday (27th). A Monday or Tuesday game is a no go.
January 22nd, 2021 at 8:07 PM ^
Wait, really? I don't think it was, PSU is playing Wisconsin on 1/27?
January 22nd, 2021 at 5:24 PM ^
Without knowing more... it's of course possible that he hasn't had contact with any other players and staff within the last several days (they last played on Tuesday night).
January 22nd, 2021 at 5:28 PM ^
I mean I assume the team has been practicing and he's a part of that, so that seems very unlikely.
But even if you say he somehow hasn't seen the team since Tuesday night, that was 3 nights ago. They generally say you need a minimum of 5 days to get accurate results after being exposed to COVID. So even if he got Tuesday night, we'd need to wait until at least Sunday to see if any other Purdue players tested positive.
This feels like a shutdown waiting to happen if Michigan plays.
January 22nd, 2021 at 5:58 PM ^
Yeah but it takes at least 2-3 days since getting the virus for you to be contagious.
January 22nd, 2021 at 5:26 PM ^
There’s no way they should be playing this game tonight. Postpone plz.
January 22nd, 2021 at 5:41 PM ^
How they think playing this game tonight is a good idea seems crazy to me.
January 22nd, 2021 at 5:47 PM ^
Thankfully how things seem to you do not impact these decisions.
January 22nd, 2021 at 5:55 PM ^
So you can have an opinion but someone else can’t? How Democratic.
January 22nd, 2021 at 6:15 PM ^
You must be new to the internet. How cute!
January 22nd, 2021 at 6:45 PM ^
what the fuck is the internet?
January 22nd, 2021 at 5:45 PM ^
If msu can cancel because two scrubs were positive, we can absolutely refuse to play because they have a player positive
Exact same risk
January 22nd, 2021 at 5:47 PM ^
Said this in the game preview thread. Better safe than sorry. Postpone and tell Kevin Warren to shove it.
January 22nd, 2021 at 5:50 PM ^
Only possible outcome of this game will be someone on Michigan getting COVID and disrupting our season, when we've done a better job of managing the pandemic than just about any other school. Hate that this isn't already postponed.
January 22nd, 2021 at 5:54 PM ^
Is this the only possible outcome? Is it not also possible that every other Purdue player tested negative, the game is played, and not a single player on Michigan gets Covid? Based on the tight testing and contact-tracing protocols, I think you have excluded the most likely outcome as being even possible. Odd...
January 22nd, 2021 at 6:11 PM ^
+1 for you Blue22. My feelings exactly. There is still nothing definitive about exactly how this virus even spreads. Seems like testing everyone the day of the game would make things pretty safe.
January 22nd, 2021 at 6:24 PM ^
"There is still nothing definitive about exactly how this virus even spreads."
#facepalm
January 22nd, 2021 at 7:12 PM ^
Maybe "1WhoStayedinaCavefortheLast10Months" was too long for a user name?
January 22nd, 2021 at 6:19 PM ^
The most likely outcome? If his positive was with the last day or two, a very likely outcome will be that someone who plays who tests negative today will test positive tomorrow or Monday, then UM may have cases.
Nothing changing is one of the least likely outcomes, per what has happened when other college teams have played teams with infected players
January 22nd, 2021 at 6:14 PM ^
Serious question because I have yet to see any articles or instances of this in major college or professional sports. Can anyone point me to an instance where players from another team got COVID from the team they played? I tried Google but my searches were not returning anything.
January 22nd, 2021 at 6:25 PM ^
Teams don’t openly discuss accusing other teams of infecting their players. I’m sure if some ballsy reporter were to trace it they’d fine the obvious transmission trails.
I mean, Cardinals and Marlins and Reds all played each other early—cancellation of games and postponements kept it from spreading more.
Ravens and Browns.
We would see more if teams did not postpone and cancel games when they have cases, especially right before games.
January 22nd, 2021 at 6:45 PM ^
Well of course we would see more if games were not postponed and cancelled. But there have been numerous instances of a player testing positive and the games still being played. Yet there is nothing I can personally find where that decision lead to an outbreak on the team they played. I very well could have missed it and am genuinely interested on if anyone can point me to instances of it happening.
January 22nd, 2021 at 7:43 PM ^
Wouldn’t it be next to impossible to pin it down to a certain team? Just because no one from Michigan has tested positive prior to the game doesn’t mean that they won’t test positive tomorrow and the test have nothing to do with this game...Would imagine the others are similar scenarios...
January 23rd, 2021 at 11:10 AM ^
Calm down dork. The kids will be fine.
January 22nd, 2021 at 5:52 PM ^
They 100 percent should cancel. It is beyond negligent if they don’t. I’m sitting at home with Covid right now that we got from our nanny. My first test came back negative... I got my 2nd test 5 days after exposure and it came back positive. If they practiced with this dude a few days ago, very likely he was at his most contagious point, and his teammates wouldn’t be showing up as positives yet. It’s utterly insane and straight up wrong to play this game.
January 22nd, 2021 at 5:53 PM ^
How are you feeling?
January 22nd, 2021 at 6:05 PM ^
Like crap. Have had a fever for a few days, a cough, and throats sore as all hell. Thanks for asking. My 8 month old had a fever for 2 days but that was it, luckily.
January 22nd, 2021 at 6:28 PM ^
Best wishes to you, JWolve, on a quick and healthy recovery.
January 22nd, 2021 at 5:54 PM ^
Michigan absolutely should not play.
January 22nd, 2021 at 6:03 PM ^
They will be fine. All you scared Nancys crack me up. Do any of you pay any attention to the mandatory testing protocols athletes have to go through? Obviously not.
January 22nd, 2021 at 6:21 PM ^
Just a bunch of conditioned sheep.
January 22nd, 2021 at 6:29 PM ^
Says the apparent the military vet who was in no way brainwashed into a certain code of masculinity that involves using very unoriginal propaganda like phrases like “conditioned sheep” to make a point. Yawn.
January 22nd, 2021 at 9:59 PM ^
Oooohhh... unoriginal propaganda, what a burn. I hope you typed it (and yawned) with your mask on. What a bunch of insufferable bitches.
January 22nd, 2021 at 6:52 PM ^
You are conditioned to say conditioned sheep, which has been conditioned in you by people who have been conditioned to believe they have not been conditioned.
Michel Foucault and such.

January 22nd, 2021 at 6:03 PM ^
For all the people claiming that the game should be cancelled... we don't know if Stefanovic was around his teammates when he first started getting contagious. Remember that it takes at least 2 to 3 days after first exposure to become contagious. So if he was contagious around his teammates at practice today or yesterday, none of his teammates would have had enough time with the virus to be contagious yet. I'm sure Purdue knows a lot more about the circumstances than we do. I'll defer to Purdue and Michigan to let them make whatever decision is best.
January 22nd, 2021 at 6:11 PM ^
Michigan won’t take this lightly. They mutually agreed to cancel the Penn State game recently. If it’s not safe for them to play or feel like it’ll cause a disruption here soon then they won’t play it.
January 22nd, 2021 at 6:17 PM ^
Or... they’ve already had that discussion, knowing the facts we don’t, and are... fine with playing.
January 22nd, 2021 at 6:14 PM ^
Yes, let's rely on the ability of the Purdue team physicians.
January 22nd, 2021 at 6:19 PM ^
Most teams have canceled games throughout this season so far when they’ve had multiple exposures or felt as if the exposed players hadn’t been properly isolated for an appropriate amount of time. I don’t think Purdue will be any more reckless than Penn St was, or any other teams for that matter.
January 22nd, 2021 at 6:26 PM ^
This is from the 19th. Number 55 is right in the mix here. I'm not drawing conclusions either way. Just leaving this here.
January 22nd, 2021 at 6:08 PM ^
Why is this just coming out now? Gamesmanship by Painter?
January 22nd, 2021 at 6:24 PM ^
Well, this is awkward. I hope Michigan was informed of this a little earlier than the general public was, and given a proper explanation of Purdue's situation. If we traveled over there and then they dropped this "Oh BTW a guy has Covid" bombshell on us...
January 22nd, 2021 at 6:24 PM ^
Many teams have still played games with a player out due to covid. Unless they aren’t sure who he came in contact with or other players testing positive I assume this game will be played. Should it? Probably not
January 22nd, 2021 at 6:31 PM ^
Why should it not?
