Not like any other players have it right? And playing tonight will keep Michigan safe, right?

Here we go...

Push the game back to Sunday or Monday or Tuesday. Neither team plays another game until next Saturday.

EDIT: Missed the thread below. At least push it to Sunday night.

Without knowing more... it's of course possible that he hasn't had contact with any other players and staff within the last several days (they last played on Tuesday night).

I mean I assume the team has been practicing and he's a part of that, so that seems very unlikely.

But even if you say he somehow hasn't seen the team since Tuesday night, that was 3 nights ago. They generally say you need a minimum of 5 days to get accurate results after being exposed to COVID. So even if he got Tuesday night, we'd need to wait until at least Sunday to see if any other Purdue players tested positive.

This feels like a shutdown waiting to happen if Michigan plays.

Only possible outcome of this game will be someone on Michigan getting COVID and disrupting our season, when we've done a better job of managing the pandemic than just about any other school. Hate that this isn't already postponed.

Is this the only possible outcome?  Is it not also possible that every other Purdue player tested negative, the game is played, and not a single player on Michigan gets Covid?  Based on the tight testing and contact-tracing protocols, I think you have excluded the most likely outcome as being even possible. Odd...

The most likely outcome? If his positive was with the last day or two, a very likely outcome will be that someone who plays who tests negative today will test positive tomorrow or Monday, then UM may have cases.

Nothing changing is one of the least likely outcomes, per what has happened when other college teams have played teams with infected players

Serious question because I have yet to see any articles or instances of this in major college or professional sports.  Can anyone point me to an instance where players from another team got COVID from the team they played?  I tried Google but my searches were not returning anything.

Teams don’t openly discuss accusing other teams of infecting their players. I’m sure if some ballsy reporter were to trace it they’d fine  the obvious transmission trails.

I mean, Cardinals and Marlins and Reds all played each other early—cancellation of games and postponements kept it from spreading more.

Ravens and Browns.

We would see more if teams did not postpone and cancel games when they have cases, especially right before games.

Well of course we would see more if games were not postponed and cancelled.  But there have been numerous instances of a player testing positive and the games still being played.  Yet there is nothing I can personally find where that decision lead to an outbreak on the team they played.  I very well could have missed it and am genuinely interested on if anyone can point me to instances of it happening.

Wouldn’t it be next to impossible to pin it down to a certain team? Just because no one from Michigan has tested positive prior to the game doesn’t mean that they won’t test positive tomorrow and the test have nothing to do with this game...Would imagine the others are similar scenarios...

They 100 percent should cancel. It is beyond negligent if they don’t. I’m sitting at home with Covid right now that we got from our nanny. My first test came back negative... I got my 2nd test 5 days after exposure and it came back positive. If they practiced with this dude a few days ago, very likely he was at his most contagious point, and his teammates wouldn’t be showing up as positives yet. It’s utterly insane and straight up wrong to play this game.

They will be fine. All you scared Nancys crack me up. Do any of you pay any attention to the mandatory testing protocols athletes have to go through? Obviously not.

For all the people claiming that the game should be cancelled... we don't know if Stefanovic was around his teammates when he first started getting contagious. Remember that it takes at least 2 to 3 days after first exposure to become contagious. So if he was contagious around his teammates at practice today or yesterday, none of his teammates would have had enough time with the virus to be contagious yet. I'm sure Purdue knows a lot more about the circumstances than we do. I'll defer to Purdue and Michigan to let them make whatever decision is best.

Most teams have canceled games throughout this season so far when they’ve had multiple exposures or felt as if the exposed players hadn’t been properly isolated for an appropriate amount of time. I don’t think Purdue will be any more reckless than Penn St was, or any other teams for that matter.

Well, this is awkward.  I hope Michigan was informed of this a little earlier than the general public was, and given a proper explanation of Purdue's situation.  If we traveled over there and then they dropped this "Oh BTW a guy has Covid" bombshell on us...

Many teams have still played games with a player out due to covid. Unless they aren’t sure who he came in contact with or other players testing positive I assume this game will be played. Should it? Probably not
