3 Star WR out of Arizona. Son of Jerry Rice. Forgot to mention that in OP.

Colorado flexing after toppling the Corn Huskers?
September 10th, 2019 at 3:11 PM ^
I know, right? Why would a WR recruit, who’s probably thinking about playing in the pass happy NFL, not want to play in an offense that will give him 10-15 catches a year?
Weird.
September 10th, 2019 at 3:22 PM ^
and has pricks like you as part of the fanbase?
Weird.

Ad hominem much?
Poster is right, though exaggerating in a downward fashion, and they get called a prick.
It's clear who the prick is.

He was responding to an obvious troll. Check his posting history.

Been saying this for years. He may have said it in a sarcastic way, but why would a top notch WR recruit come to Michigan!? The last few years the offense has wasted DPJ, Collins, and Black (some injuries haven't helped). I was hoping Speed in Space would fix that, and it still may. But, until the offense gets the WR's more targets, top WR recruits are crazy to come to Michigan.
September 10th, 2019 at 3:22 PM ^
Some pretty butt-hurt followers around here if this comment is being negged.
I'm pretty sure we've spent two weeks complaining about Collins and Black only getting a handful of receptions so far.
Must be the Pitbull avatar, huh?
September 10th, 2019 at 3:27 PM ^
Harbs? Harbs? is that you?
September 10th, 2019 at 3:37 PM ^
Contrary to what some obsessive fans think, recruits generally aren't impacted much by individual games.
September 10th, 2019 at 7:09 PM ^
Zach Harrison sure was last year.
September 10th, 2019 at 7:26 PM ^
That would be dumb... btw. Does the University academics, history, global reach mean anything?
September 10th, 2019 at 3:55 PM ^
You mean watching Nico and Black combine for 4 catches vs Army wasn't appealing to a WR?
September 10th, 2019 at 4:19 PM ^
And Bell (whose role Rice would probably fill) had seven catches for 81 yards.
September 10th, 2019 at 4:32 PM ^
Don’t present the truth people will just ignore it. Sometimes you have to just take the “W” and move on! We win and people are still bitching! Whew!
September 10th, 2019 at 6:39 PM ^
We all know about actually reporting the truth in this country. You would think this was China. Guess we should ask Google.
September 11th, 2019 at 7:50 AM ^
If i wanted to play in the league as a receiver i would not come to Michigan.

247 Sports reporters recently mentioned that Brendan has ‘fallen in love with the process.’ Would love to have him, but he might string this along for a while. 3* prima-donnas are probably not #1 on the staff’s want list or Maizen’s want list.
September 10th, 2019 at 2:55 PM ^
If he was 1/10th the WR that his dad was, that would qualify him as the 4th best athlete of all time, no?
September 10th, 2019 at 3:00 PM ^
and we do need to please maizen.
September 10th, 2019 at 3:01 PM ^
Maizen is as ass, but he's not wrong about our recruiting. Our 1's are as good as OSU's, but we don't have nearly their depth. The OL shouldn't become a turn-style when one guy is out. And we're playing a FB as a DT.
September 10th, 2019 at 3:13 PM ^
"Maizen is an ass, but . . ."
Here is where you should have re-evaluated your entire thought process.
September 10th, 2019 at 3:47 PM ^
What did Hatter say that's incorrect?
We dont have OSU's position depth (except QB)
Our Oline does go to shit if one guy gets hurt
We do have our ex FB playing defensive line
Have you watched either of their first two games? Unless they fall apart or we get our shit together in the next couple of months that game in November is going to be about as much fun as all the other OSU games this century.
September 10th, 2019 at 2:53 PM ^
Colorado’s offense looked fun this weekend. They were spreading the field, taking deep shots, giving their receivers chances to make plays (ran a flea flicker that turned into a 96-yard TD). If you compare it to our offense I honestly don’t know why any receiver recruit would want to play football at Michigan.
September 10th, 2019 at 3:10 PM ^
It baffles me that teams like OU and OSU can run offenses where receivers are running free. Yes, before you say anything, I know OSU gets 5 star elite level athletes and that helps them get even more separation. But I watch guys just running free constantly with these teams. Michigan has arguably a top 5 receiving trio in the country. Even without DPJ, they still have athletes. Imagine OSU being in a close game and running it for about 3-4 yards for every single play. I haven’t studied film on those teams, so I don’t know the intricacies of how those receivers are getting so open on a consistent basis. But our offensive staff should have studied other offenses all offseason and cherrypick ideas from them on how to REALLY get athletes in space.
I’m hoping Gattis is getting a feel for playcalling and/or he is saving his real offense for big games, no offense to army (pun not intended). I’m definitely overreacting but I don’t think it’s uncalled for given what we’ve seen these first two weeks, especially with how Maryland’s offense has absolutely torched teams.
September 10th, 2019 at 4:23 PM ^
From an OSU play calling/design perspective, a lot of it this year has been mixing up route combinations and multiple formations. We'll line up in trips to the wide side of the field to run a bubble screen, and then later in the game, use the same formation to run a post with curls. One play that has been prominent in the first two games is rolling the pocket (primarily to the right) and have curls/outs with a run off. In nearly every instance, the defender on the short-to-mid range route will come up to keep Fields from running, and Justin will drop it over him for an easy completion. We've also run more 2 and 3 TE sets in these first two games than seemingly the entire time Urban was here. And we're doing it both out of shotgun and under center.
The one thing we haven't run nearly at all yet are the crossing routes that have given you guys fits for the past few years. Day actually commented on it today, saying it was part of the playbook Justin still didn't seem comfortable with yet, noting that the windows for those routes will get even smaller in conference play. I hope that was insightful/useful.
September 10th, 2019 at 8:38 PM ^
The receivers run free because good teams exploit matchups. Michigan never seems to do that or they assume they have a good matchup which isn’t. Going into the Army game I assumed that our Oline, with a decided size advantage, would be able to push Army all over the field. I assumed our “NFL” caliber receivers and QB would play pitch and catch all day against Army’s smaller “slower” DB’s. Neither happened. Army played with incredible heart and effort and their preparation and coaching were better than ours.
September 10th, 2019 at 3:17 PM ^
My guess is playing Nebraska helped a bit in that department, as CU had the 82nd-best passing offense last year with a similarly-talented team.
But what do I know, football history for all teams only started counting on Saturday.
September 10th, 2019 at 2:53 PM ^
That seems like a strange school, when/if your considering Michigan.
September 10th, 2019 at 2:56 PM ^
He plays WR.
September 10th, 2019 at 7:11 PM ^
Colorado's WR Darrin Chiaverini is a super star, both as a coach and a recruiter. Tucker had to slap an "Assistant Head Coach" title on him to keep him when Tucker was hired.
He played at CU, he recruits passionately, and he's put guys in the league. Obviously Michigan recruiting is on another plane from Colorado, but when Colorado is involved with a WR, I don't bat an eye. He's up there with Oklahoma's coach Bedenbaugh being involved with an OL (although Oklahoma recruits better than Colorado).
He had Colorado legitimately in play for 5* Kyle Ford.
September 10th, 2019 at 2:56 PM ^
Lavon LV Bunkley-Shelton is still uncommitted. ?
September 10th, 2019 at 2:56 PM ^
Colorado throws more probably.

Colorado utilizes "speed in space" concepts.
September 10th, 2019 at 3:24 PM ^
Other than army, doesn't everybody.
September 10th, 2019 at 4:51 PM ^
Actually Army employs speed in space, too. Slow speed in confined spaces, yet surprisingly effective.
September 10th, 2019 at 3:01 PM ^
He must have watched the game on Saturday
September 10th, 2019 at 3:07 PM ^
Short of some kind of drastic change in philosophy if you're a wide receiver why do you come to Michigan? Nobody wants to get targeted three times a game and be happy with it.
September 10th, 2019 at 3:34 PM ^
OK but then again, some say that Michigan has 3 pro-level WRs. But how can they possibly get noticed with no throws? Answer is you can still get noticed if you impress even with limited opportunities (see DPJ and Nico last year).
September 10th, 2019 at 4:12 PM ^
So in other words you better have measurables before you get into the program because there's a logical chance it's not going to be exploited.

OSU took the highest-paid WR in NFL history and turned him into a robust All Big Ten 3rd team and 2nd-round NFL draft pick. You can definitely still get noticed, even if you're criminally underused.

Supposedly we were the longtime favorite and he never committed, that's usually never a good sign.
September 10th, 2019 at 3:29 PM ^
Just wait until we unveil our new "Speed in Space" offense..... then you'll see!
September 10th, 2019 at 4:12 PM ^
Dang. We need more possession receivers. No wonder Clemson, Alabama, Ohio State struggle so much. All they have are speedy guys.
September 10th, 2019 at 4:22 PM ^
Wouldn't be a huge loss??? This kid can play. The exact type of receiver our team will be lacking when DPJ, Nico, and Tarik leave.
September 10th, 2019 at 7:24 PM ^
That's fine. He projects as a depth receiver and would likely enter the portal eventually for more playing time.
Think of this news as a pre-transfer.
