Been to every Big 10 venue for football, most for BB. By far the worse (abuse etc for wearing maize and blue) is MSU. Iowa best in Big 10. Best ever is ND. Great stadium, smart and good crowd. Would urge everybody to catch a game there at some point.
Grew up across the street from Farr family. I was the paperboy and many times stopped over to toss the football or, way better, play 2 on 2 basketball - me and Lem Barney against Mel and Charlie Sanders. Lem was amazing athlete
I’m usually an optimist. But our only offensive strength- running between tackles - is Wisconsin’s defensive strength. Wisconsin’s defensive weakness is long ball - where we are terrible. And, as awful as Metz has been, he’ll toss the ball up and our corners will either grab or not turn their heads.
I think this is the worst matchup for us this year.
David Hall, former backup QB to Steve Smith was an actual competitive decathalete - former jr Olympic world record holder. Lettered at UM in football, basketball and track
Wow - I have almost the same situation. Live in LA, daughter got into Michigan and Boston University - got a little money from BU and she loved it there. I won’t let her make final call yet - I keep pushing Mich. (She got rejected at UCLA and Berkeley - she wants badly to go out of state)
What’s really interesting in the ESPN story on this is that Self and Adidas we’re talking about what it would take to get Zion - money, jobs, housing etc. And NCAA thinks he went to Duke for zero ? And not investigating Duke ??
I graduated in 82 and have watched live or TV every single game since. I think he’s the best linebacker at Michigan I’ve seen. I would only put Woodson and AC above him

In the multi sport athlete from my era, David Hall was back up to Steve Smith at QB and also played basketball one year and track all 4. Was a champion at decathlon
I was in the group saying speight was probably good enough - B-, Dilfer, whatever. Then after watching him in Cinci game, watched Baker Mayfield destroy OSU. Wow. If Speight is B-,Mayfield must be A++++++. Grading on a curve with Mayfield as A, Speight would be C-.
I'm with you. Bush way better than expected (also Isaac, Furbush). Speight was a disaster - I see people saying B- and trying to say his few good throws etc made it an "average" "expected" performance. No way. That was a miserable game for him
I work at ESPN. We really wanted to keep Tirico and Skip. They got big offers from ESPN -- but amazingly huge set for life offers from NBC and Fox. Nessler was close call -- he just picked CBS. It happens. All the others were just not renewed. Not a cost issue per se, just an improve the broadcast call.
Mel was my neighbor on lakeview court. I was his paper boy and he used to invite me over after route was done to play 2x2 bball in driveway w him, Lem and Charlie. Pretty amazing athletes (especially Lem).
lots of way way over the top anticipation around harbaugh. why in the world would he ever come back ? If he left SF (where he will probably stay), he would pretty much have his choice of open HC jobs -- Oak, Miami, Bears, Jets, Giants. as has been pointed out here several times, failing NFL coaches go back -- successful ones do not.
Hear hear -- completely agree. Harmon stands alone in the Michigan pantheon. He defined Michigan football and was the dominant player in all of college football. This number shouldn't be given on the come to a first time starter (DG), a scrappy kid (dileo), it should only be given to a proven all American -- only one possible choice.
dont know about the visit, but its been pouring rain here (LA) all day and about 50 degrees. Not an I Love LA day...at least Ty won't choose b/c of better weather
is better than all NY/LA. Maize and Blue is like Carnegie -- huge, huge sandwitches -- good, but not great. Zingermans is better than Katz's and way better than Langer's (hate that place)
forgive my newbie status -- I know what a slient recruit is, but I dont know why. Why is it in anyone's interest to be slient ? what is the player or school getting out of it ?
Been reading that Kalis is or maybe a silent recruit...and I just dont get it.
I grew 6" between jr and sr year in high school, practiced at a whole different level, worked out differently -- and went from 8th man to starter and all conference...
Point his that Jeremy is just a kid -- not all of these guys are full developed athletes at 16 -- its very possible that he's much better as a senior
RB/FB: I think they offered Hill b/c they dont think they have much of a chance with the other running backs and want to really focus on Ohio for now and future.
DL/OL: They have several 4+ star highly nationally recruited guys lined up. Some will go elsewhere. Best to keep them all in play
DE: They really like Wormley
S: They really like Wilson -- turned away the two corners to focus on him
QB: Do need a QB in each class
WR: This one I cant figure out. They definitely need a big receiver and other than Stanford and Burbridge, there doesnt seem to be any heat here -- they are listed for several of the top guys, but they sure dont seem to be visiting, tweeting or thinking GBOD.
from these clips, looks like Alden has great vision/instincts -- can find the openings, follow blockers, etc. Stuff you can't teach. I like a big guy that can do that

Onwenu weighed 362 at Senior Bowl - lost 18 lbs in a month
Fyi - Onwenu weighed in at 362 for Senior Bowl
Throwing in this unrelated football news: Shrine Game official measurement - Michael O weighed in at 362. Now we know. Runyan is 313.

I planned my entire financial future around mortgage payoff when kids go to college. Now that it’s on the verge of happening, I’m pretty happy.
Urban (if you are about life off campus) - Georgetown, Penn, Chicago, Harvard, UCLA
Campus only - UVA, Princeton, Stanford, Mich
Surprisingly good (to me) - Wisconsin, Washington
I just did 20+ visits over the past 3 yrs w my kids applying.
Wow. Larry Shapiro - we were on same basketball team - and you used to take me to Michigan BB games - the Phil Hubbard era

O'Brien (and Pipkens) were WAY better on tape and in camps than Shittu.
Really want O'Brien.
you should check out the commentary on bucknuts....generally they think the penalty was too HARSH...its great for a quick laugh

4. Wormsley
5. Diamond
6. WR
7. QB
8. Hold for random 5 Star
Little brother is going into 9th grade -- 6'3" 220 lb QB (think Cam Newton). Named Cassius. Great name. Said to be the best athlete of the family.
love the formula -- he should have his own blog !
sure, godin would benefit from college level weight training....but can you imagine Pipkins and O'Brien with that same training ?
Since we are all shooting in the dark...
