I was informed today, by the recruit, that he will silent commit to #Michigan 'sometime tomorrow', announce NSD. A surprising pickup for UM.

EDIT 7PM - an astute reader figured out MaizeNBrew "recruiting editor" has a crystal ball. Which he turned "cloudy" on Viramontes late this afternoon. Which if you don't want to ruin a kid's announcement is probably what you would do if someone from your team is about to tweet out "we know of a commit but he wants to keep it quiet until NSD". Viramontes would also be surprising and fascinating and pleasing. Broome's ballz have a 85% success rate which is extremely high.  So that would appear to be the logical guess.

It could be true but when people type stuff like this they are protected by the fact that more commits are coming and that at least one of them will (at least vaguely) fit into the category of surprising.

Interesting........

I had to check out who the source even was.  Now that I know, I am interested to see if this is legit or if he's being taken for a bit of a ride.

Regardless, signing day is going to be very interesting.

If this is a recruit whose silent commitment will be accepted by Michigan coaches during the current class crunch, then this must be a very good prospect.

Can't wait to hear who it is!

Here are definitions from dictionary.com 1. Surprising: Causing wonder or astonishment. 2. Fascinating: Of great interest or attraction; enchanting; charming; captivating. Now a commit from VV would be "nice". But VV committing again to Michigan is in no way "causing wonder or astonishment" or "of Great interest; enchanting or captivating". That is simply hyperbole.

Surprising might not mean good but I am going to err on the side of Harbaugh and believe this is a good thing.

Edit: OK now I see the "pleased" comment above as well so that reafirms my well placed faith in Harbaugh.

This guy only has 1700 followers on Twitter, so doesn't seem like a big insider. Will be interested to see who else reports on this. Point being, if this recruit is going to tell someone he's committing, why only tell this one guy, why not Sam Webb or Brandon Brown also. Color me skeptical.

I got banned from there last year for defending Mattison in the whole Daishon Neal debacle. I said something like " I'm not sure about this, I'll wait for more information" The message that came with me being banned was "this is not appropriate. The kid could be reading this." Just bizarre. Not to mention the content isn't that good either.

I never bought the kids story about Mattison. Mattison has probably recruited and secured more kids than anyone in the game. He is an astute recruiter and I highly doubt he would call a player dumb. It sounded more like the kid and his dad had some big egos that needed to be fed properly.

He and Mr. Fish do the recruiting for MaizenBrew (SB Nation).

Fishaw was the first to break Walker moving away from OSU and UM leading the charge.

If he didnt have his own website and edit guy I bet Fishaw would have 2k followers too.

p.s. Brandon Brown - really? haha.

When you have guys like Sam Webb saying things are "trending positively" for Walker it's not as significant to take the chance of saying it's a certainty. Sam Webb is often purposefully vague b/c you have so many hacks that give his info out immediately. Sometimes you have to be able read between the lines with him. That brings you to the topic at hand. Maybe this is true, he actually received this info. But Webb reported things are trending positively with Asiasi and Tagoloa(although with a significant BUT for him). This guy could just be taking the small sized leap with one of them. He also covered his tail as long as anyone commits on signing day.

You have a beef with the website.

Believe it or not other people can have sources.

Some of these guys may be talking with recruits themselves (as he cited) as opposed to Webb who often is getting his info from the other side of the machine (Partridge/Singleton types).

This is not UMDiehards or Teddy Blanks.  Just chill man.  Maybe it's possible someone on earth other than Webb or Lorenz has a scoop.  Fishaw did.

But that's because I assume he'll have a follow up on NSD regarding the silent commit. He'd be painting himself into a corner by making this up.

I'm pretty sure someone will ask which recruit was the subject of his tweet. And he can't make up an answer because it's way too easy for the recruit he names to call "bullcrap".

This guy works for MaizenBrew. They follow recruiting pretty close and put out hype videos for players. These videos give players an incentive to let them know ahead of time so MaizenBrew has time to edit them for the ready. The players love them it appears so they notify MaizenBrew of thier intentions before the public.
