This is awesome. Love the rhino one.
|4 years 7 weeks ago||Would love that||
Would love to see that, but I honestly don't think they make a run at either of them. I'm guessing the one big offseason pick up will be a starting pitcher. Preferrably a left handed starter that can break up the string of righties. I'g going to guess they go with Inge again and also wouldn't be surprised to see them bring back Betemit.
I'd also be surprised to see them resign Magglio. Young in LF, Jackson in CF, Boesch in RF going forward with Dirks being that 4th OF and Kelly and Raburn having the ability to play there in a pinch.
|4 years 7 weeks ago||Thanks||
Thanks again for posting this. Really enjoyed reading this and it really shows how much the Michigan family cares about each other. Much rather read an article like this and would really wish the NCAA/media would focus more on stories like this.
|4 years 31 weeks ago||Very true||
And I am not saying I wouldn't want him, I just never thought accuracy was one of his strong attributes. I also didn't know he was recovering from a torn ACL. On my search for his stats I came across this article that was just published today about him and his recovery progress.
BTW Appleby's stats from last year = 93-of-187 passing for 1,427 yards and 14 TDs, 57 rushes for 18 yards and one TD.
|4 years 31 weeks ago||Accuracy?||
From what I've heard/read Appleby completed about 49% of his passes and also threw a pick on about 5% of his passes. I could be wrong, but that's what I remember hearing.

I was eleven years old. And when I was strong enough, I dedicated my life to the study of fencing. So the next time we meet, I will not fail. I will go up to the six-fingered man and say, "Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die."
|5 years 2 weeks ago||Agreed||
I think Feliz had a really good year. And ya I definitely didn't phrase my comments correctly. I just get upset about voting for relievers over position players, especially with how much each of them dominated their respective positions as rookies. But maybe that's just because I was a position player lol
|5 years 2 weeks ago||Very sad||
My condolences to you and your family Dallas.
|5 years 2 weeks ago||Here's the problem with all of that||
You are comparing a reliever to mostly starters. Besides Papelbon and Soria everyone you named was a starting pitcher. I'm not seem going to go into it because you to know your stuff, but I think you are making a HUGE mistake comparing guys to starting pitchers. If you included relievers in your search you would get much different results.
Speaking of guys above 9.2 K per 9 in the AL.
Henry Rodriguez (10.73)
Koji Uehara (11.25)
Tony Sipp (9.86)
Darren Oliver (9.49)
Jason Bulger (9.38)
And yes all of these guys are relievers.
2.3 BB per 9 is very good, but unfortunately he couldn't even beat out his own teammate.
Darren O'Day (1.7 per 9)
.6 HR per 9 would place him 5 if you are comparing only him to the starters in the AL. He is actually 78th if you add all the relievers, but since not all of the relievers qualify he would probably by around 50th.
Guys he didn't beat out
Dontrelle Willis! (.6 per 9, beat him out by percentage points)
Brad Thomas (.5)
Dusty Hughes (.5)
Trevor Bell (.3)
Like I said in my first post Neftali Feliz is a very, very good pitcher. I just don't think they should be included in the discussion of Rookie of the Year because they do not go out there and play as much as position players do. If this was a starting pitcher I wouldn't have as much of a problem with that because at least they are out there throwing 6 - 7 innings a time and racking up twice as many innings as relievers. That is why I said there should be a Rookie of the Year and Rookie Pitcher of the Year.
|5 years 2 weeks ago||I think it makes sense||
They split it up with the Cy Young and there are plenty of rookies who qualify each year, it just makes sense to allow players to be recognized even if they aren't on a very good team.
|5 years 2 weeks ago||what stats were great besides saves?||
his 40 saves were really good, but honestly what else was so amazing? He had a pretty good WHIP, but he averaged 1 strikeout an inning and had a pretty marginal ERA.
|5 years 2 weeks ago||Totally Agreed||
I will preface this by saying Feliz did have a terrific year and he is very deserving of recognition. But I 100% agree with Yoss Tree on this. Feliz winning this award was complete and utter bullshit. To compare a relief pitcher to an everyday position player just isn't fair. They should split it up with a rookie pitcher of the year and rookie player of the year. I hate when the writers vote because honestly they don't know shit. They are glorified fans who get to write articles about the games we all watch.
|5 years 9 weeks ago||Does that include kids who||
Does that include kids who are going to be 5th year seniors that are not going to be asked back? Just wondering.
|5 years 26 weeks ago||Actually||
Favre said that he would return to the Vikings if USM got back to the College World Series.
|5 years 40 weeks ago||FA - Oaks?||
Any reason why Oaks threw against Jacksonville State and not against Texas Tech? Are they just trying to set up their rotation like they would during conference play?
|5 years 41 weeks ago||some people||
Do you all not agree that you could go around and beat the living shit out of people who do stupid shit like this? I know I do. I hear stories like this and it just pisses me off.
|5 years 43 weeks ago||Interview||
FA are you planning on posting the interview with Maloney anywhere? I'm interested in reading it. Thanks.

When you say he made it on the All American team does that mean he is going to be playing in the Army Bowl next year? Also is Marvin taking part in the Under Armour combine? What about Lo Wood and other Florida players we have interest in for the 2010 class? Thanks.

Jay Bilas is the best color guy on ESPN. He actually knows what he is talking about and he stays very neutral throughout the whole game. If you knew nothing about Jay Bilas when watching the game you would have never known that he went to Duke. He had a lot of great analysis also of both teams.
|6 years 51 weeks ago||the Les Miles thing||
sounded more of a homo move by Les then anything else to me...Don't you usually bring your girlfriend to the top of a building and look out over something pretty and then pop the question. LOL. Just my view but it sounded kinda gay. Last I knew 18 year old could care less about looking over a town with another male.
