Can someone tell me where this worry is coming from? I keep seeing people mention concern about losing Grant to Texas and Graham to USC, but outside of people on this board saying they're worried I don't know anything else about it.
I wonder if this is what Schiano was talking about in his halftime interview where he said something like "there are things going on that aren't right." But then in the post-game presser he kind of brushed it off and didn't want to talk more about it.
Has anyone ever given Seth a shout out for his work on the classic Phil Klein insurance commercial? The old "conversation that is actually an ad" thing is usually super bad, but Seth actually manages to nail a realistic conversational tone and message. Great stuff.
Seriously. Pretty much every response to a question about officiating has been “pssh, we sucked, what does it matter." well yeah, we weren't good, but that doesn't mean calls didn't make a difference.
You know what's weird? I know that they're synonymous, but I've never thought about that phrase being redundant before. I'm going to stick to either exact or same from now on.
How much of Oregon's current success is attributable to him, and how much is Helfrich?
I'm a bit worried about hiring an OC that's under an offensive head coach, just as I'd be a little worried about a DC under a defensive head coach (Narduzzi).
Not saying that these guys aren't the reason for the success of their units, but we better be sure that they are before making them a head coach.
I think you misunderstood me then, because I realize that it's not a real monopoly. My point is, people aren't going to switch from Michigan to another team.
They have a monopoly on Michigan fans. Maybe it is a poor comparison, but I really believe that they feel they can do certain things because the fans can either deal with it, or not get Michigan football.
Same for me, actually. I'm not actively "boycotting" the program, but I also am choosing to not spend my money on it. I had a rare opportunity to come up for a game this year and I didn't. Mainly because I didn't have much desire to pay for what we have right now.
UM football is basically a monopoly, and it's being run like one. Fans aren't going to go spend their money at MSU or Notre Dame, they only want Michigan.
So why not raise prices and ruin the game day experience for some extra bucks...it's not like the fans can go anywhere else. Unless fans stop spending money and supporting the program, it will only continue. Yes, it's a bummer for players, but that seems to be the only way to get some type of message across.
I don't really see this as running a coach out. Rich Rod, yes, that was a struggle for him from day one. Hoke, for the most part has had a ton of support and probably would have been here next year if this season wasn't an absolute disaster. But that's on him.
That's kind of how I feel about Hoke. Just because someone works hard and is a good person doesn't mean that they're untouchable.
I wish it would have worked out differently for Devin, but at some point you might need to try something else.
How does it work when a player is hurt like this in HS? Does the school pay for, or help pay for the surgery/rehab? If not, that's a huge financial burden for these families to have to deal with.
So am I right in assuming that most people want the tradition of the #1 jersey to die? Or are most of you just upset with the way it is being handled as of late? I personally love it, and it never seemed to be a problem as far as promoting one player over any other before. I remember when Manningham was blowing up and everybody was calling for him to get the jersey.
Is the change in opinion based off of the new coaching staff and their perceived emphasis on team over player? People keep talking about Bo and the whole "team" approach, but didn't he start the helmet stickers that Carr thought were too individualistic?
Am I the only person that thinks that some variation of this should be the US Soccer logo? It would be ten times better than the lame shield we have now.
I honestly thought that they were being invited to the FIBA championships based on the title of the thread. I thought it sounded like a cool idea, but alas, it was not to be.
I agree. While it isn't very probable, Fitzgerald is the player that I am most excited to see this year. If his scenario comes true, it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.
They are, but Iron Mountain (where I'm from) traditionally wins the Mid-Pen Conference and Ishpeming is stuck playing second fiddle. However, I would like to point out that Ishpeming was the only team to give Traverse City St. Francis a decent game last season. Holy Crap TCSF was pretty good apparently. Here are their results (all wins):
55-7
64-0
28-0
56-0
71-7
59-6
50-7
54-0
54-8
28-20 (Ishpeming game)
34-7
42-8
I just noticed that he is playing in the Superior Dome in some highlights. Turns out his team beat Ishpeming. It's weird seeing a somewhat local team (everything is kind of local in the U.P.) on a highlight video.
That's definitely a Tony Dews reference. Paid our "Dews" like Tony. I didn't get it at first, but then it clicked and the Coner went up even higher on my favorite rappers list.

Dude, I've been coming to this site for twelve years. Fake news is the worst.
It's about time! I remember thinking that it was a great idea. Turns out, I was right!
What happens if another coach had that put into his contract? Never ending dollar raises?

Great to end the game with a bang and put the other guys away.
Eric Bledsoe much he needed a transfusion?
As a yooper, when I'm calling something "up north", I'm usually referring to Houghton.
