Yesterdays Crystal Balls regarding Jalen Wilson and Keion Brooks....

Submitted by Champeen on

Jalen Wilson picked up another ball for us yesterday.  But i think we all pretty much know how that is going to go.

HOWEVER, Keion Brooks, the 5* SF that was heavily trending towards MSU, picked up 2 Kentucky balls yesterday.

This is fairly big, as Brooks was the most likely of the top 50's to land at MSU, since Romeo Weems, widely expected to go to MSU, announced for DePaul last minute, and Vernon Carey expected to land at Duke or local Miami.

It is possible Izzo whiffs hard this recruiting class.  :)

Carton's video was great.... loved this kids aggressiveness, which is EXACTLY what we need... players like these tend to uptick the entire team's swag and toughness and take on their personality.... polar opposite of having a soft Donnal type.

Did I miss Donnal playing PG? That comparison is.....strange. It’s as if you couldn’t find a soft point guard so you just picked someone from the recent teams who seemed like a soft player. It’s like that comment was meant more of a dig at Donnal than a compliment to Carton.

their asses with 5 star McDonalds All America's, so it really doesn't matter. I hope we can fill Charles Matthews spot if he decides to go pro. Is it 2 late?

In case Matthews remains in the draft. Khwan Fore is a wing with 2-years as a starter at Richmond, who decommitted from transferring to Tennessee in the past couple of days. There are also some potential grad transfers who are deciding between that and the draft today. But I really hope Matthews comes back — he’s looking at a 2-way contract at best next season. And we need him.

Double posted so I'll expand: Matthews ORTG was 105.5, lower than Robinson, Teske, MAAR, Z, Wagner, Livers, Watson, Poole, and Matthews. Obviously CM brings more to the game than his ORTG, but his DRTG was nothing special either. Of course I want him to come back but if he doesn't I don't think it lowers expectations much. The team may take longer to gel without him, potentially leading to an early season loss or two, and having his leadership in the postseason would be lovely, but don't see the impact being much more than that.

If matthews leaves now we have no room for someone with 2 years of eligibility left. We need his spot next year for recruits. We have 1 spot + matthews assuming hes definitely gone after next year + assumed playing time transfer and thats it. We're not going to trade a 2 year transfer for dj carton or juwans cousin.

it does matter. Sure, Beilein may beat him regularly no matter who Izzo signs. But I wouldn't mind the rest of the league beating him more often too. Having that translate into Izzo being less competition on the recruiting trail would be a bonus.

Everyone knows their regular season title was a sham. Even MSU fans know their team sucked last year and it kills them. They can brag about their B10 title all hey want and they still know they had one of the most talented teams Izzo ever had and they still weren’t as good as Michigan and they got knocked out of th tournament by one of he last teams to make the tournament. Their season was trash

I gotta think Izzo is going pro at some point, no ?   If he cannot win with the players last year, then why bother....

May have missed his shot. He basically showed that he can’t manage even the college egos of a bunch of five stars he never really had before. How’s he gonna handle a bunch of NBA egos? If he benches the best player on his team in the NBA it would be a short career. Also his whole scheme/philosophy is becoming outdated.

After their "Class of the Decade" I really don't give a fuck who they land in recruiting.. Meanwhile we have a guy who can actually evaluate and develop top-end talent. 2017, 18 & 19 classes are/will be very very skilled. Watch out!

has the potential to be a gret few years of basketball. Beilein might finally get that recruiting bump we hoped he would get after his first title game, couple that with Izzp taking a hit because of the early tourney losses along with everythign else goin on there.
