Would you rather have Michigan win a National Title in football or basketball?

The title says it all. Which would you rather have happen? I'd say basketball for myself because they've been so close 2 and 3 years ago. Michigan football has been bad while I've been alive (first game I remember watching is 2005 alamo bowl), so it can only go up especially with Harbaugh. Plus, Beilein isn't getting any younger. Go Blue!

In basketball getting to the Final Four and Championship game means something...I suppose for us Rose Bowl's means something, but in this day and age, especially with the playoff, it's all about winning the national championship.

Football, no question.

Yeah, but some of those schools have written off football as a loss and claim to only care about bball.  Much like Sparty did for years when they were irrelevant.  Look at how many people have jumped on the Duke bandwagon since Cutcliffe has started turning that program around.

I agree basketball will always be supreme with them, but the itch for a football championship would be there after a few winning seasons.

The 3 schools mentioned - and I'm sure there're a couple more could be added to that list - all would SAY they care more about winning (another) hoops title. They'd never admit to caring so much about a sport where they've never been anything but an afterthought.
But seriously, imagine any of them reaching 10-0 with a game vs an arch-rival standing between them and a shot at the playoff. They'd be going apeshit, in a way piling on another hoops title couldn't possibly compare.
As for Michigan - cumong man! We had this thread not that long ago, didn't we? I'm straight out calling ANYONE who says basketball a LIAR - or a person seriously out of step with Michigan tradition and out of touch with their own heart and mind.
In other words - FOOTBALL would have to win 7 NC in 10 years before I'd even entertain the thought "Hey, maybe winning hoops would be EVEN MORE COOL this year!"

Because then the thread would read:  Would you rather win a football national championship and a basketball national championship?  To which 35 gazillion hits would all answer "Yes" and our blog would go down...501 errors gallore.

I'd say basketball, only because I am still pretty skeptical about this so-called football playoff. If we could go undefeated in football (ie. undisputed #1) I would way prefer a football NC.

see Beilein add a championship to his resume. His slow, low profile climb to the top of the mountain would be an inspiration. But then I'm sick of self promotion, hyperbole, media manufactured hype, etc.

Football. My championship dreams are Michigan Football followed by Michigan basketball and then the Detroit Tigers third. Probably the U.S. Soccer team winning the World Cup would be fourth.
