Would You Rather Beat MSU or OSU This Season?

Submitted by OaklandInPlay on

Being that this is the first season under the Harbaugh regime, it would wise to temper our expectations. However, it's pretty safe money that we won't lose both games at home with Rudock under center. Assuming we beat at least one them, which one do you prefer? OSU or MSU?

That's the problem with being in the midst of concurrent epic losing streaks to your two biggest football rivals.  It's impossible to choose between the two of them because you want both streaks halted.  Still, if I had to pick, I'd probably go with MSU if only to be begin the process of exposing Dantonio's "era of dominance" for being the house of straw that I've always believed it to be.  Harbaugh will be well-challenged just to get Michigan back to playing OSU even year-to-year. so a loss this season, while frustrating, wouldn't be devastating.  On the other hand, I want MSU back in the corner where they belong ASAP.

because the same spartys who used to claim, and still claim MIchigan arrogance, are hypocrites, bent tooth juggalo fools, many wearing new gear because they have only recently decided that sparty is a juggernaut, and have whipped themselves into higher levels of hate frenzy toward UM. Dantonio's attitude, snarky comments, and general douchebaggery have brought MSU closer to OSU in terms of receiving my contempt for their assholery. Okay, need to stop, this thinking is putting me in a bad mood

Is all of the above an option?  Because I pick that one.

If we can only win one, I'd rather beat OSU.  On a national scale it's a bigger win, which is better for recruiting and that kind of stuff.  Also, since MSU is earlier in the season, it's an easier loss to "recover" from in the polls (to the extent that kind of stuff still matters with the championship committee).   Also, I think the odds are better that MSU loses a random other game than OSU losing one, so to the extent it impacts B1G champ birth, I think beating OSU matters more.  But really, please, just beat both.

I think we can take MSU at home. If OSU comes in number 1 in the country, the only coach who could knock of the Urbs would be Harbaugh! Me thinks '69 all over again with OSU.

I'll be that guy...

Is it safe money that we won't lose both games?  This team hasn't played a game, and yea, we have Harbz OMG, but there are unprovens all over the field.  OSU is coming off a Natty with at least 2 starting QBs, and MSU returns most of a #5 team, including their now 3rd year, Rose Bowl winning, starting QB.

haha, I think if we win either, it'd be a huge deal.

get outta here with your 'safe money that we won't lose both games".  I'll take that bet.

you kool-aid drinkers are hilarious. Same bunch that thinks Peppers is bound to leave after 3 years.  Dude looks great for a photoshoot, but has spent more time in sweats than actually playing college FB.

But I am very tired of MSU beating us, and not only beating us, but we arent even making it a game.  At least we have played OSU strong..we dont even show up against MSU

It has to be OSU. Even with Harbaugh, wins against them will be hard to come by as long as they have Meyer on their sideline. MSU on the other hand should be no problem once Harbaugh gets the ball rolling in our favor. I think you can see it right now with OSU-MSU, no matter how good MSU is, OSU at their best is still on another level. I expect the same to happen with Michigan-MSU, the type of talented athletes Harbaugh will bring in will be too much for MSU to handle once coached up correctly and I personally can't wait for that day to come!

would hurt way more RIGHT NOW than it would to lose to the *uckeyes. The MSU faithful (like always) would make it even more unbearble if they won this year as they're waiting to shoot down any Harbaugh hysteria this season.

Plus I think that Michigan is a lot closer overall to MSU right now than OSU. After this season is over and if it goes the way that most foks realistically think it will (8-4, 9-3 or 10-2) than a win over MSU would be perceived that we've now caught up to them and on par program wise.

I think a win over OSU would be looked at more by most as "they won because they rode the emotions of it being a huge rivalry game." combined with all the comparisons to the Bo/Woody 1st game, etc...

EVER has been in some of the more recent losses to MSU.

As if losing to them wasn't crappy enough, it's been the way that they've beaten us that really pisses me off.

It seems like they've made it a point to try to intimidate and embarrass us and have more or less succeed also.

It was a struggle to even cross the 50 yard line against them in a few of those games. You got the feeling early that there was no real shot of beating them that day. I've never had that feeling of things being that hopeless in the OSU games.

I think their total domination over us was what made me realize just how far we had fallen as a program. That's the main reason I want to beat them this year and not next.

It's payback time!!!

We will beat Michigan State.

The Ohio State one is tougher to predict.  I think it will come down to a handful of plays.

We have to be better on most of those - we weren't in 2012, 2013, or 2014.
