On a semi-related topic to "CB", Sam Webb expressed on his recruiting round up today, that Michigan should be considered the odds on favorite to land Domani Jackson after last week's dueling performances with SC.

He mentioned still a long way to go in that one, and Domani is going to maintain his commitment for now, but they absolutely took notice and are impacted by what is transpiring at SC, and conversely Michigan is a much bigger threat after the maize out performance than in previous weeks. Sounds like the Jackson's are going to be monitoring both situations closely with Michigan rapidly ascending and SC under the microscope.

Just hoping MacDonald can keep that defense humming.

You might have to explain it to me. Wouldn't the leader be exact same thing as the favorite?

Merriam-Webster seems to describe "odd-on" favorite as a pretty sure thing:

Definition of odds-on

1having or viewed as having a better than even chance to win, the odds-on favorite

2not involving much risk pretty sure, an odds-on bet

That would be a huge pick up (literally and figuratively) for Michigan. Seems like the 24/7 staff think Grant is vastly underrated right now as a DT prospect. OSU has "offered" and trying to slow play him, either because they are trying to confirm commits from guys higher up their board, or they just don't want him to sign with Michigan, but either way this kid is an excellent interior line prospect within the midwest footprint.

C'mon WINGDING we need you to hit on your ballz!

He's only a 3-star so perhaps it's not surprising that he doesn't appear to have an ND offer even though he's an Indiana kid, but I'm sorta shocked that he doesn't have an offer from IU, either.

??? 247's composite ranking of Grant is 3 stars, and most of ND's recent DL commits have been 4-stars. Not to mention ND's recruiting reach is national in a way that IU's is not. Why would IU not offer a high 3-star in-state kid, especially one that has been offered by Michigan and OSU?

I know that the current board sentiment is to be doom and gloom all the time. It is possible that Indiana still perceives it self to be less of a desirable football program than Michigan and Ohio state…and feels they are wasting their time if they get a sense he is not interested.

I can see not putting a lot of effort into pursuing a guy you don't think you have a chance with from a cost of sales standpoint, but that doesn't explain why they at least wouldn't extend an offer, which is a pretty basic and easy thing to do. Whatever, it seems like it's a contest between Michigan, OSU, and Wisconsin.

I’m certain IU would take him. This has been a Michigan, OSU, and Wisconsin battle. It seems like he may not be a guaranteed take for OSU, yes, but he is for Wisconsin, which has a great recent history of DLs. This kid is widely considered under-ranked and would be a big get for Michigan

Grant was 6-5 350lbs at the OSU camp. Ran a 5.14 in the 40 yd.

One of the best things about recruiting camps is how unheralded recruits can show up, show out and quickly go from unknown to well known.

That happened Wednesday with Merrillville (Ind.) 3-star defensive tackle Kenneth Grant. Grant caught everyone’s attention with his size — he checked in at 6-foot-5 and 350-pounds — and then backed it up with his unexpected athleticism. He ran a 5.14 in the 40-yard-dash and was quick off the ball in one-on-one competition drills.

Kids of this size don’t usually move the way Grant did. One coach working with him called him “special” in an off-the-cuff conversation. Larry Johnson’s eyes lit up when the massive 2022 prospect ripped off his first 40-time.
