Will Michigan be active in the portal when it opens on 12/5

There are lots of good players going in to the portal. Even though we will be in the playoff, will we start hearing things about M going for players, or will that all come after the season wraps up?

What position groups do we need to go after, any players that jump out already?

I like the Sonic Drive In ads but I hear their food isnt very good. Is that true?  Is their food not very good?  I think I need to start a thread so we can talk about Sonic Drive in food.

Also do you think that Michigan will call a running play first or a passing play first Saturday?  Does anyone know when they'll announce the winner of the coin flip?  I think I'll start a thread on if we will call a running play or a passing play first.

Then I'll start a thread on coin flips.  Maybe two threads on coin flips - one for head and one for tails!  Ha, ha, get it???  Two threads on coin flips!!!!!

Good shit, mGrow, good shit.

But I'll take all the nonsense threads following a consecutive beat down of OSU the most recent of which was on their home turf.  It's rough, but much better than the rending of garments, gnashing of teeth and post-loss fuckery we've had to deal with for the preceding 10 years, LOL.

Do you know the best airline to service Atlanta and/or Phoenix?

LB, cornerback, and (yes) WR. Worried about our lack of experience/depth at those positions if the people we expect to leave do.

CJ could unless someone tells him he doesn't catch the ball well enough to be a draft pick. If he gets UFA intel, then he'll stay and clean up some bad habits.

Bell - not sure what else there is to do. He's taken this year to prove his health and get better at football. I'd love to have him back, but he should leave if possible.

Wilson - Could use another year to prove that he's more than a straight-line route runner.

Johnson could leave and I'd want another tall WR to replace him from the portal. Even if he was staying we need to get some new players at WR. So many drops this year. I want Clemons to be the guy, and Anthony to be a star but it's nice to have more options. I hope Tyler Morris becomes a great option too.

Dixon hasn't played which is a shame because I thought he'd be a star, and wouldn't be surprised if he transferred.

I also want Anthony to be a star.  But what is it about him, aside from measurables, that says he's trending that way?  His routes aren't all that good.  He's not a great blocker.  And he's the least likely of the regular WRs to actually catch the ball.  I really do hope he gets there, but I haven't seen the tell-tale signs - yet - that he's on the way.

I'm actually feeling really good about Linebacker. NHG comes back, Barrett is rumored to return for year 6 (although not set in stone), Junior Colson gets another year of experience and then Jimmy Rolder is coming up as well and played significant snaps against Ohio State. Thats four solid guys right there with potential for 5 with Mullings depending on how he develops. I think that feels pretty good with how they only play 2 at a time.

Cornerback is the biggest concern probably. I think they should dip into the portal for a good running back. Need a good number 2 running back. See what Braelon Allen is thinking after Jim Leonard got passed by Fickell

OSU plugs in a WR and that guy goes bonkers. I think we need to trust our RS freshmen. And recruit great WRs. If we can get a guy like the one who left Iowa and had a great season at Purdue I am for it. But our RS freshmen should be ready. This is one position where freshmen should be able to make a difference.

I like our guys too, but to compare them to the guys OSU brings in every year is pretty silly. Our WR room and OSU’s WR room are not the same. Not even close.

Hopefully our guys work out well but “OSU plugs guys and they go bonkers” doesn’t really apply to Michigan when you factor in the fact that OSU has like 6 guys who were top 5 WRs in their respective recruiting classes and they’re bringing in 3 top 10 receivers in the current class IIRC.

I think we should take a QB from the portal. Yes, we have Warren, but someone with experience would be nice. Doesn't look like we are going to take a QB this cycle either even though JJ is the future with Davis and then Underwood hopefully the future QB's for the next several years. I still think we should be taking a QB every cycle because it's a good insurance policy.

I think we're set at OL.  Raheem Anderson or Greg Crippen should be fine at center.  The Tackle positions are both set with Persi and Jones with Barnhardt sliding over to cover one of the guard positions.  El Hadi can cover the other one.

RB is fine with Edwards and the young guns getting one more year of seasoning.

WR is loaded.

TE is loaded.

DL will be loaded and another year of seasoning on top of the young EDGE players will be fantastic.

LB... might need one?  NHG coming back is good but might need one more body depending on the development of Rolder.

Might need a corner if the coaches are not confident in the development of players like Kody Jones.  Sainristil might leave.  Turner will go.  Does Green have another year of eligibility and even so, should he go?

Safety is loaded.  No need there.

Overall I don't think they need any transfers this time, but the position that needs one the most is likely CB.
