Who will be the new DC?

[Edit: I'm hijacking this thread because it's the most recent Harbaugh-related thread currently on the first page of the board.  I'm hoping this edited headline remains visible long enough to dissuade folks from posting yet another "Harbaugh is staying!" thread over the next several hours.

I now return you to your regular programming... ]

Looks like Tata Martino might be available after tonight. His Mexico team typically lets opponents score only 1-2 points a game, so that’d be pretty good defense for our version of futbol.

I thought I heard Sam Webb cough out a hint that Partridge is an option during the recruiting segment today.  I would be into that in a co-DC role and position coach.

I have to assume Clink and Elston will be co-coordinators. It would be great if Harbaugh convinced Fangio, but he'll go for a NFL job most likely.

I do wonder if they're co-coordinators, what position coach would be hired to take spot that MacDonald have. I would assume maybe a full time WR coach, which would be a nice spot to get a dynamite recruiter.

I really don't think it will be clink and elston. Obviously, we are all guessing, but Clink will get his well deserved co-dc title and a big raise but I bet Harbaugh brings someone else in to run the show.

You can finagle titles however you want and can still give Clink much more money and responsibility and at the same time bring in your next "Mike MacDonald".

I do believe Clink and Elston can do it but I absolutely think Harbaugh will bring someone in and try to do something big ("big" doesn't have to mean controversial or crazy but I'm talking like he did last year)

Clink can have his Co-DC title, but Harbaugh requires a DC that can run everything - EVERYTHING - on that side of the ball.  Including coordinating players, tactics, and strategies with special teams and offense.  Jim Harbaugh doesn't look at the defense, he leaves that entirely to the DC.  He doesn't question the DC, either.  He needs someone on that side that can run the entire show without the HC looking over and checking in.

The only reason Harbaugh ever thinks about defense is because someone has to be on the field when the offense is on the bench.

Thanks for all the responses. I am hoping that Harbaugh brings in someone who makes an immediate impact in a positive way(especially on recruiting).

Watching Michigan beat OSU and all the fans streaming on the field for the longest time was one of the top couple of enjoyable UM moments in my sixty years of being a fan.

Then to go through this last month after thinking we were on top and headed in the right direction was totally disheartening.  I hope the NFL is out of his system for good, and he can take this season and turn it into becoming part of the elite again.

I really hope that they can pound out an excellent NIL deal, as seems to be the future.

Ohio st is going to have a deadly passing game and we cannot count on a snow storm. Get whoever does good at pressuring the passer and playing disciplined zone in the secondary

The snowy weather actually favors the offense and wider receivers since they know where they are going on a slippery surface. It is strong winds that effect the passing game more than snow or even rain. It is okay to just say Michigan kicked OSU's trash can, no asterisk needed.
