Who are your team captains?
December 1st, 2014 at 1:37 AM ^
And just plain stupid now, but I will bite.
Ryan.............?
See if it were before the season, it would be easily
Gardner, Funchess, Ryan (or maybe Clark or Countess even?)
Now... sigh.. which brings me back to my first point.
What the fuck Hoke? Of all the dumb ideas...
December 1st, 2014 at 1:43 AM ^
Ryan is still a viable option after the season but who would get voted captain on the offensive side is a mystery. Agree with Gardner and possibly Funchess being the obvious choice(s) on offense before the year, but now....

"before the season"
Agree with everyone that this is pretty dumb at this point. But I would go Ryan and Gardner. I can't wait for next Sept.. that will be the first time in a long time all the goofiness stops... god willing.

If Hoke is fired in the next day or two, then I'd guess there wouldn't even be captains elected after the season, right?

Captains are normally voted on by their teammates, so I don't know why we'd be mad at Hoke for that.
This kind of thing happened with James Whitley in 2000 incidentally. He was dismissed from the team and retroactively stripped of his captaincy.

You're right, that would have been pretty bad.

In of itself, it's not a dumb idea.

"I was voted captain after the season for arguably one of the worst teams in Michigan football history".
December 1st, 2014 at 12:24 PM ^
Isn't the Clark thing the exact reason for waiting until the end? I mean, I think it's kinda dumb too, but naming a captain that later ends up booted from the team later is precisely the type of thing you avoid by waiting.
December 1st, 2014 at 1:44 AM ^
Ryan and Gardner. Although you could have just made this designation at the beginning of the year.
December 1st, 2014 at 1:49 AM ^
and that is Captain Comeback Jim Harbaugh!
December 1st, 2014 at 5:33 AM ^
Captain Morgan is also needed.
December 1st, 2014 at 1:50 AM ^
Devin and Jake

Devin Garder, for being the epitome of class in a dire situation.
Yes he got a free education, but if he went to another school its hard not seeing him be a 2nd to 4rth round draft pick.
All the turmoil stunted his development.
December 1st, 2014 at 9:49 AM ^
While I love Devin Gardner I don't see him being a 2nd to 4th round selection as a QB regardless of where he played his final year. Yes, he is more suited to different offenses (cough, cough, Ohio), but his mechanics and field awareness never seemed to improve. I think other offenses would have better disguised these flaws but the NFL can see through most disguises pretty well.

Since it is after the season and might mean something for next year, I would vote for Shane as the third captain.
The guy was sacrificed to make a stupid point and stayed with the team.
December 1st, 2014 at 2:31 AM ^
Gardner should get it just for what he did in The Game last year. The guy also stuck it out through the RR transition, played receiver when the team needed one, and conducted himself well off the field.
Ryan...duh. Captain Jack has a nice ring to it...
December 1st, 2014 at 2:55 AM ^
and maybe Jack Miller. Actually think he had a good year and was a glue for the OLine
December 1st, 2014 at 3:31 AM ^
I was going to mention Miller as well on offense. As far as defense, Beyer would be someone I would hope would be considered.

Well, the captains are certainly representatives of the U of M and by extension those of us who are graduates. We don't get a vote, but I think we can certainly root for guys that we think represent the team and the University well.
Backing up to last year, I never felt real comfortable when Lewan was named Captain. I get that it's hard not to vote for the All-American, but he didn't strike me as a great ambassador for the program or school.
December 1st, 2014 at 8:39 AM ^
are people still blaming the 2013 season on lewan? lol

So that's why he hasn't been fired yet. They're waiting for him to name the captains. This coaching change is going to take forever!
December 1st, 2014 at 3:53 AM ^
Didn't want to be repetitive, but yeah, Devin and Jake. Maybe Beyer? Can I prospectively nominate Jim Harbaugh?
December 1st, 2014 at 4:30 AM ^
For the block in the back that cost Hoke his job.
December 1st, 2014 at 6:24 AM ^
When Blake Countess was given the number 2 jersey, A. J. Pearson switched his jersey from number 36 to to number 18. The bradcaster mistakenly referred to Antonio Whitfield as the player responsible for the block in the back on Dennis Norfleet's punt return that might have been a touchdown.
A. J. Pearson
Antonio Whitfield
Blake Countess - 18
Blake Countess - 2

This is even funnier than before now that we aren't going bowling. A senior or two will likely be named captain and they will never be a captain during a single practice or game. This was a dumb idea

The question has already been answered correctly several times, so I'll say Bolden should get it for trolling Dantonio with the stake thing. It would've been little brother II if we didn't lose and lose badly. Maybe Drake Johnson because he didn't transfer when he was stuck at 4th string.

He's been through a lot and wrote a pretty heartfelt letter for team #135. I say honorable because I'm not sure any kicker should "really" be a team capt., but you need seniors like that in your locker too for the younger guys.
