Where to watch the game in Berlin

Submitted by brmarsh07 on September 13th, 2023 at 8:26 AM

I tried the Google doc for the map of Michigan bars but it is giving me an error, that it is no longer available. That being said, my wife and I are leaving Sunday for Berlin & Munich for 2 weeks. I am curious if anyone knows of a Michigan friendly bar in Berlin that we can watch the game?

Tough predicament. Honestly, Germany this time of year is too much fun to put too much focus on a game like BG.

My advice, try and find a place but don't sweat it too much if you can't. Go out and drink the amazing beer outdoors somewhere with a good view and enjoy the trip!

Edit: and record the game so you can do your own UFR.

I know you won't be in Frankfurt, but there is a UM Ross Alumni Club in Frankfurt that might be able to share some ideas with you. Simple Google search popped that up.

I'm sure there's someone in that group who has gone to Berlin/Munich, maybe even works there, and probably knows a place to go. I'm guessing your options will be incredibly slim, but there's undoubtedly some American ExPat bars somewhere.

I had to watch most of the 2019 season from Germany and Switzerland due to a work assignment,  I was in Berlin for The Game.

I streamed games through my work VPN so that it looked like I was San Francisco.

not the best but I still never missed a game, therefore keeping my 20 year streak alive.

Salamas Bar in Friedrichshain stays open til 5 am and is said to show college football on Saturdays and NFL on Sundays. I don't think there's any sort of Michigan connection, so there's no guarantee the Michigan game would by default be on a screen (though one can always ask them to put it on of course).

That being said, whenever I'm in Germany or Berlin specifically I just fire up the VPN to watch games via FuboTV.

It bears pointing out that *legally* sports bars in Germany would only be able to show games available to them via TV providers in Europe (which given the limited European popularity of CFB is likely not much). There is a German channel showing college football, but not exactly a full slate as they show two games a week. This upcoming week they'll show LSU v Mississippi St and Minnesota v North Carolina, so there's a chance that these would be the sole games shown even in CFB-friendly sports bars.

I’ll be in Finland for BG and Munich for Rutgers and Nebraska.

I love my Wolverines football but I’m not compromising Saturday nights on the Weisn for those particular games.

If you see an enormous brute of a man in lederhosen with a pheasant tail feather in his hat feel free to introduce yourself!

Prost!
