What is the Best Music in the Big House?

Submitted by xtramelanin on

Mates,

For many of you tomorrow will be a fantastic Saturday at the Big House.  Like you, I expect that bearcat stew will be served sometime before halftime, meanwhile the tempertures will be great and the sun shining.  Love the marching band which at least for me will always be #1 for music. I'm also glad they aren't playing nearly as much, nor as loud of 'rawk' music at the games.  That said, I must admit that I have an affinity for some of the songs that you frequently hear at the Big House, songs that I would never otherwise be listening to.

Norfleet's dance music of a few years ago is a perfect example, Sandstorm and Atomic Dog (link here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3IneWNeRFP) songs I would have never known existed if I hadn't seen it myself:

So the question is this, excepting the MMB which is king of the hill, what are your favorite songs to hear while you are in your seat at the Big House?

Have a great game day, and Go Blue!

I'm old and proud of it.  I want to talk to the people near us without saying "WHAT????"  Is that too much to ask?  Tomorrow, after the game, I'm going to my 40th HS reunion.  There it is.  Go Blue!

No offense to Ozzy, AC/DC and GNR, but I could do without that shit at the game. If they want to throw a little Sabbath on or some obscure Pink Floyd, maybe some vintage Marley once in awhile, by all means... Honestly though, a little rap, hip-hop or heavy metal before the game, a couple of those damn sing-alongs (for the kids) during the game, and the rest MMB, would do me just fine. Out with the "rawk."

The band. Period. Get off my lawn. The music from artists that glorify misogny or drugs really should stop.

The band. Only the band. And whatever they play. That's all I care for, unless they want to blast Thunderstruck or Won't Get Fooled Again before the boys come roaring out of the tunnel.

None of that "In the Big House" crap that DB blasted throughout the stadium. Either the band or the classics that will still run chills down our spines 200 years from now.

lose yourself- eminem

atomic dog- george clinton

martin garrix- animals

the four seasons- december 1963

Just some that come to mind that have been played recently. The four seasons was great AFTER the game just ended.

For this season I will be looking for....

Cardi B - bodak yellow

Yo Gotti - Rake it up

 Kendrick Lamar - Humble

Watching Dennis Norfleet do the steps for Atomic Dog that night was one of the most memorable moments I've had at the big house. Honestly I think the band + 2-3 pop du jour songs and 2-3 recognizable oldies (Motown, Beatles, Sweet Caroline etc) is the perfect balance.

I think that piping in music should be limited and not generic, there has to be at least somewhat of a Michigan Football connection. Otherwise, MMB all day long, no matter what they play.

I miss hearing the Rocky and Bullwinkle theme song at the games.

PS. No music should come from the loud speakers. Only the band, weather on the field, in the seats, or in small roaming groups. Otherwise it's a pro game.

I hate the rawk in the stadium, but if you have to have it, I'd love to hear the Wonder Woman theme music. When they play it you know someone is going to get their ass kicked.    Could play that after every Mo Hurst sack or pre-third downs.   It would actually be much cooler if the band played it.

Of course the best is the Seven Nation Army because the crowd can chime in and I feel like with Jack White being from the state of Michigan we have more of a right to it than any out of state schools.

You know, I have special preferences when it comes to music. I like different styles but I can't find a favourite band or anything like this. Now I really care about listening to good sound. That's why I decided to buy the best in ear monitors which has-sound and I hope it will be easy.
