What's the immediate JH Impact recruiting-wise?

Submitted by JR's Flow on
As we get closer and closer to the end of the week it seems as a strong possibility that JH will be the next coach.

JUB, Sam Webb, and others had said that Michigan's recruiting class will look very different very soon.

What former decommits and prospects do you think we become the favorite for with JH at the helm?

I think people should calm down a bit on this,at least for this class. some around here act like we will be able to just throw an offer out there and kids will jump on it. I think this class will end up around 18th in the country.

Pretty big exaggeration there...

Weber wants in? Some sites are saying he is solid to OSU. Others reporting he is looking at Bama visit so he still has wandering eyes. It isnt too much of a reach to think he will at least talk to Harbaugh and may visit again so positive things could happen...but "Weber wants in" seems like a big stretch.

Marshall wants in? One site keeps reporting he is keeping an eye on the situation and would likely take a visit if Harbaugh comes. While that is positive and anything can happen if he visits, again it is beyond a stretch to say he wants in.

I agree that Michigan will have a chance with these two if Harbaugh comes...but there is no reason to think they are Michigan locks if Harbaugh comes.

Totally agree. Not enough time left to really shape this class. Just get the quality that is available. 2016...Top shelf QB, then a bunch of talented kids that play angry. Like Desmond said, we need more players that have an edge to them. 5* or 3*, all fine as long as they have that crazy Harbaugh blood-on-his-face edge to them.

If Harbaugh is hired on Tuesday I think we will see commits as early as Saturday that same week. The man was recruiting well at Stanford find it hard to believe he wouldn't have more success at Michigan. With that said lets not go crazy over recruiting again. We know what happens when all you focus on is recruiting..... Clap clap clap

Hopefully in addition to the names mentioned here, Durkin can get some Florida talent he has connections with.  Entirely new staff at Florida and I'm sure Durkin has some players who would instantly look at Michigan if he was hired.

Obviously, we can't know for certain, but I do wonder if some of those who decommitted are watching this situation with one eye to it, as it were. I suspect the immediate impact is that perhaps a few of those kids decide to give Michigan a second go and we can only hope that most of them stick around, and as a bonus, we get a few that might have been distant or inaccessible before. I have a feeling that some doors open up if (when, it seems now) Harbaugh sets foot in Ann Arbor.

Rosen, Iman Marshall, D Harris, Chris Clark. It's best case scenario but not farfetched. Rosen and Marshall are Cali kids who have shown interest earlier. Rosen gets harbaughs QB acumen and Mora may leave UCLA for nfl. Harris may be turned off by Weber at OSU and intrigued by rockstar hire. I expect Clark and Kinnel to almost instantly recommit, assuming their offers are upheld. Class will still be small in quantity, but with this grand slam of a hire it will be high in quality.

Brian noted today in Searchbits that Kentucky's recruiting star, Marrow, may be coming to UM.   Kentucky is listed at the current favorite for D Harris on 247.  So, if their primary recruiter leaves, D Harris might be convinced to follow him to UM

Although we're pretty set at RB, losing Damien Harris was my biggest recruiting disappointment, pre-Hoke departure.  He's so shifty, fast and has vision.  I think he's going to be one of the best RBs in college football, and I'd really like to have him for 3 (to 4) years out.

I'm really surprised he's not solid anywhere yet, and I'd take him over Weber any day.

I'd rather have Harbaugh put together a small class of prospects he wants, rather than filling out a class with lower rated prospects. That'll leave a lot of open scholarships for next offseason when he can really rake in top talent from coast to coast.

So this class is not going to be highly rated. And it doesn't need to be. We all know that the kids need to be developed better and this is what we're all hoping changes with our future coach.

What about that FSU wide receiver that grew up a Mich fan? Not George campell the other kid. Can't remember his name.. I also think Clark and Iman Marshall commit. Having jabrill and iman for harbaugh to develop along with Lewis.. Yikes our secondary better be nasty

This is going to be a small class regardless so I'm not expecting a top-10 class, probably not top-15 either, but I am thinking that we reel in a blue chip prospect or two we were not even remotely in play for before Harbaugh came into the discussion. I think we get a good, respectable class together for NSD, and then 2016 recruiting will be on fire. Especially if Harbaugh starts turning things around next year.

If he can manage a 9+ win season next year and a big win over either rival, recruiting will skyrocket.

We need linemen who block, receivers that catch the ball, and running backs that find and hit the hole with speed (and aren't taken down by the first guy who touches them). Yes, having a speed guy would be great but what killed Michigan this year (and previous years) was bad decision making and poor execution by the players.
