What's with former Wolverines in the NFL?

Submitted by Carcajou on November 21st, 2021 at 8:47 PM

Watching the Steelers play the Chargers now. Three former Wolverines starting on the Steelers defense. Only Wormley introduced himself as being from Michigan. Devin Bush gave his high school, and Taco Charlton said, "Columbus, Ohio." What's going on with them?
This of all weeks, we need all hands on deck.

Sure, but it's pretty rare.  Normally they name the college they went to - which was part of these introductions in the first place.  TV announcers have always told us what college players went to, not the high school.  So yours is a generically crap answer.  Something pissed these guys off to completely bypass the school that got them into the NFL.

Ya I don’t usually get upset about this but tonight bothered me.

They know what week it is and Taco says Columbus. WTF.

Bush has always said his high school since being drafted, so that’s nothing new.

I don't think why you would think it's common knowledge Taco Charlton went to Michigan. He's a bit player in the NFL, he wasn't exactly an household name across the country when at Michigan either. I'd say it's pretty likely a large % of viewers of SNF have no idea to which college he went to.

Exactly. People do whatever. It is not that important. I don't understand why this is such a big deal. I am a die hard Michigan fan but I rarely wear Michigan hoodie. I don't say anything Michigan unless the topic comes up about school. I live and die Michigan on this blog pretty much. I don't have a Go Blue on my car. I drove a green color car for a long time. Life takes people wherever and there is no need to question their fandom. I wear a red jacket. Not everything has to be about Michigan. It is in my heart ❤️

So a bunch of a guys that had issues beating Ohio put their tails between their legs and say Columbus or their High school instead of Michigan?

If this affects you it says way more about you than them.

Huh?

That's literally every player who has played at Michigan since John Cooper got fired.

Seems like you feel some sorta way about them and tried to put them down to express how little they matter.

If they said "Michigan," they still had trouble beating OSU.

What was the last class that DIDN'T have trouble beating OSU? Who was the last player to leave Michigan with a winning record against the Buckeyes (that wasn't a 1 year walk-on in '03 or '11)?

I have no problem with them calling out their high school, their grade school, shoot, they can even give a shout out to the hospital where their mother birthed them for all I care...for any week but this one.

Maybe they're ashamed because, other than Schofield, none of them ever beat OSU.

I do find it a bit odd, though nothing to get too bent out a shape about. However, I do think the annoyance that many Michigan fans feel here may be heightened by the fact that most (all?) of the Buckeye players seem to show tremendous pride in the fact that they played for OSU and every one of them arrogantly proclaims it.
