I loved that quote from Tate.

Mitch: “..Try to remember that Eastern is no push over.”
Forcier: “I saw what they did to Northwestern. We don’t just gotta beat the teams, we gotta destroy ‘em. For us to get respect we have to destroy everybody.”

Mitch Albom was around to educate Tate about the game of football. RR probably had Tate thinking he could give about 50% effort for the rest of the season, and still win the MNC. Appropriate response by Tate, it would be hard not give a sarcastic reply.

Saw him on a flight once. He was what I can only describe as a "douchey prick." I think I was the only person that recognized him, and I didn't let him know it. He still acted liked a prima donna.

Also, he is like 4 ft. tall.

That quote gives me hope. I wouldn't be sad if I never saw Michigan stumble its way through another gimme game again. I also think the whole freep thing has given Rodriguez and the team an extra chip on their shoulders which is bad news for future opponents.

I used to hate it when Carr would just barely beat a team that was a 3 touchdown underdog. The Ball State game from a few years ago was a joke. So annoying. I think RR will try and lay the smack down early so he can get Denard some much needed reps.

probably served as a team "gelling" moment. However, I think the collective headache of the 3-9 season has caused more of a chip than a newspaper article.

To be honest, I am actually worried about the Eastern game. Why? Not as worried because I think we can lose, but that they might make it a game if we do not show up and play like we have in the 1st two games.

I do not want this game to be even remotely close. We need to kill Eastern and then do the same to Indiana a week later.

The Tate quote definitely lowers my level of concern though.

The team will be ready to pluck the Eagles nee Hurons. As great as the last two games have been, you don't wash the stench of 3-9 off of you after just two games. These guys know it and I am 100% confident they will stay focused on each and every opponent at hand.

... with that quote. He wouldn't be given access to the press for a long time (exception Mike Hart).

I love the attitude. This is how you need to think. Respect your opponent but attempt to destroy them on the field. There is nothing respectful about taking an opponent lightly -- that's the ultimate disrespect and why teams get punished for it -- see MSU Sept 12, 2009.

Albom's a smarmy, irrelevant hypocrite.

Juxtapose how he and his douchelings treated Rodriguez in print with Albom's own comments about being investigated for lying in an article in 2005:

"It hurts to have your integrity questioned, especially when you’ve been at a place for 20 years and tried to make a career of having some integrity…"

Tate's a quote machine and almost as entertaining in an interview as he is on the field, but I wish the Freepscum would just stay away from our players. I can't shake the feeling that a lot of these writers are just exploiting the living heck out of the access Coach Rod's granted them, just looking for the next slip-up to splash across the headlines and get their own names out there some more.

Tate wants to go for it on 4th and 3 when Michigan is up by 28 points in the fourth quarter. Love that kid. Another five bucks says he will be cheering his head off like ML Carr when the Coner is playing QB.

The Denard Robinson Show in 2nd Half. Wouldn't that be sweet.

I'd like to see Robinson get some good playing time to really calm down and run the offense. I think he's got a great arm and just needs more time in the system to become even more confident and more complete as a QB (other than just taking off with the ball).

Ya just gotta love Tate's attitude -

I also hope when we get to Purdue, nobody takes them lightly. I seem to remember a long fake punt and a hook-and-ladder costing us the game in the final seconds in West Lafayette.

The Boilers must be destroyed in A2.

Consider Mitch Albom a sports writer anymore. Glad for the new mentality from Tate. Although, we have to respect other teams, there is nothing wrong with a goal of destroying them, especially now with margin of victory meaning so much against sub-level opponents.
