Watched Last Year's Ohio State Game Last Night

After closely watching the game again, the Michigan offense did well against the Buck defense over the course of the game. Patterson's accuracy was the primary problem and consistency in the running game. For the Bucks, Dobbins was just an absolute beast and had he not gotten hobbled against Clemson the Bucks stood a great chance of defeating Clemson. Ohio State absolutely crushed Michigan's man to man coverage schemes and especially in the tight bunch sets. The DL had no chance at pressuring Fields in these situations. Michigan's secondary and LB's were on the same levels causing them to bump into each other on several occasions when OSU's receivers ran their routes. They looked confused and even the game commentators spoke of it. Watching the game again though did show promise with Gattis and the offense as OSU is the standard in college football. Hopefully, the new experienced defensive coaches will finally talk Don Brown to stop playing too much man and especially in the red zone where there is not much field to work with. Charles Woodson was 100% right when he critiqued Brown's coverages earlier in the season. Hopefully this changes this year.

So last November I managed to smash myself in the balls with a hammer because I wasnt being very careful.  It hurt more than anything I've experience in my life and literally wanted to die.

So last night  I decided to see if it would still hurt as much if smashed myself in the balls again with a hammer.  You know what?   It DID!

In a few weeks I'll prolly do it again. You know - for research purposes.

With the disclaimer that we're essentially quibbling over the relative pain of a serrated needle thru your uretha vs. an acid-coated needle -

at least with 2016 you could watch 3.5 quarters of Taco/Mo/Wormley stuffing JT Barrett like a ragdoll and pause before the Dark Times.  there's literally nothing redeeming about watching any part of 2018

I was at the game.  Ohio State was, faster, better coached, more prepared, and had a better QB which is to me is the biggest difference between them and Michigan since they have literally taken over this rivalry.  I am really hoping that Milton is the guy that changes that after this year because Ohio State still to me is ahead.

If Shawn Springs doesn't fall down when he's covering Tai Streets they could have won a national championship with Stanley Jackson platooning with Joe Germaine. That was the deciding touchdown in their only loss (a game I remember fondly); they beat an undefeated Arizona State in the Rose Bowl and eventual #1 Florida had a loss.

That's a big if, obviously, as both Michigan and Ohio State would have done things differently.

Patterson's fumble in the redzone.  Hudson's offsides on the punt (OSU touchdown two plays later).  DPJ's drop in the endzone.  These three first-half mistakes made the game unwinnable.

You are right, though.  The offense looked like it COULD have been enough to really compete.

The optimistic side of things.....

As you said, Shea's accuracy was the primary issue to getting behind early.  If Shea was dialed in, what would the end result be? The good news is that buckeye fans believe the last two years are the expectation, so the bar is sky high in Columbus.

Prior to two years ago, The Game was largely a good one in recent years(we were winning before Haskins came in and went off, plus the JT was short game). I like O$U having the thought process that we could not possibly play them tight. It will make it much sweeter when we do beat them.

After watching Georgia Alabama I'm convinced man just doesn't work except as a change up or if you are more talented. Georgia's D is good, but when push came to shove they looked no different against Bama's 5 stars than our guys did against OSUs.

Zone them up, take away the run, and make 'em work their way down the field.

I was at the game last year (my first time bearing witness to the last game of the year in person) and I don't disagree with you. Multiple times throughout the game it felt like they were closer to OSU than in years past. Patterson was his 2019 self and there were a ton of unforced errors but it felt like they were in it. The skills that the 2020 team brings to the table have me feeling exponentially more optimistic than in years past. It feels like the offense is aligned for the first time in a looooong time. Hopefully the 2 NFL bound defensive ends can create some havoc so we can afford to drop more in coverage.
