Washington loses at home to FCS team Montana

I bet we bury them next week. Go Blue.

You better knock on wood, or throw some salt over your shoulder, or something. Don't need you jinxing us!
September 4th, 2021 at 11:59 PM ^
I don't believe in jinxing, but I do believe in preparation. I hope that we are not lax in preparation, but rather smell blood in the water and redouble our zeal and diligence.
September 5th, 2021 at 4:41 AM ^
So you're telling me that underwear I've been wearing has nothing to do with the outcome of our games? I don't believe you.
September 5th, 2021 at 7:15 AM ^
Man, we are in luck. I am doing some demolition work today. I’m going to throw some wood over my shoulder, too. After that jinx attempt, it couldn’t hurt.
September 5th, 2021 at 10:18 AM ^
Must be well endowed to throw your wood over your shoulder!

Feels an awful lot like last year when we came out and looked impressive in week 1, our week 2 opponent underwhelmed against a poor opponent and then we come in as big favorites and shit the bed.
I’m not going to get overconfident here. One game at a time, everyone is a threat.
September 5th, 2021 at 9:34 AM ^
To say we shit the bed last year against State is an insult to turds everywhere.
September 5th, 2021 at 9:02 AM ^
When have you seen this
Michigan wins blow out victory in week 1. Week 2 opponent suffers horribly embarrassing loss in week 1. Week 2 opponent comes into the Big House and smacks us upside the head. Does 2020 ring a bell? Just sayin'.

I get that this is MGoBlog and being negative is what the cool kids do, but this is not 2020. We had a normal spring, summer and fall camp, the season was never cancelled and restarted, we did not have our starting QB opt out of the season, and we have fans in the stands again. Homefield advantage should actually exist.
Think about what happened to Washington. If Michigan had lost its opener and then had to fly 2000 miles to play a night road game against a traditional top 25 team, what would the level of confidence here be?
September 5th, 2021 at 9:32 AM ^
I get the CoVid excuses are cool, but we really don’t want to compare what we went through to what MSU went through last year. And they came in fresh off a loss to Rutgers, as three and a half TD underdogs and beat us.
Doesn’t mean it will happen this time. But it does mean it’s a rational reaction for fans to not get overconfident in our expectations of what happens this week.
September 5th, 2021 at 11:15 AM ^
I’m kinda more worried about MSU now
September 5th, 2021 at 11:18 AM ^
Last year, MSU also beat Northwestern, who won their conference, didn’t lose to OSU that badly on the B10 championship game, and beat Auburn in their bowl game. Maybe last year was actually just a weird year and we shouldn’t put too much weight on it

Not to mention 1937
holy fuck that was horrible

“I bet we bury them next week.”
-Me, after Week 1 last year
September 4th, 2021 at 11:11 PM ^
I had my eye on the score for the last hour or so.. Wow. Just wow.
September 4th, 2021 at 11:32 PM ^
I would like to have seen Montana.
September 4th, 2021 at 11:39 PM ^
Come on people, just one upvote?!? You have to imagine Sam Neill is actually playing Putin saying it! It's gold.
Or it's just the whiskey in me.

I give us one chance in three.

Looks like the Huskies got caught by a Crazy Ivan.

He was born in the Bitterroot Valley in the early morning rain
Wild geese over the water heading north and home again
Bringing a warm wind from the south
Bringing the first taste of the spring
His mother took him to her breast and softly she did sing
Oh Montana, give this child a home
Give him the love of a good family and a woman of his own
Give him a fire in his heart, give him a light in his eyes
Give him the wild wind for a brother and the wild Montana skies

Well, for the record he actually crashed into Monterey Bay.

That John Denver is full of shit man.

My third season fighting forest fires, I was stationed in Montana, on the Flathead National Forest.
I saw no football—it was the summer—but did shoot craps for the first time.
September 5th, 2021 at 7:59 AM ^
P.S. I have connections with Washington too.
I fought fires in the state, including one in the Olympia rain forest; I've been in Seattle a handful of times; and I nearly attended UW. Gorgeous campus.

Montana always has a strong team and no one should take them lightly. However them going into Seattle and beating Washington like they did was totally unexpected. Watched a fair amount of the game and Montana pretty much controlled the entire game. Really wasn’t as close as the score indicated

Those in the Defense Snowflakes might want to edit their posts.

Win practice, beat Washington. Go blue!
September 4th, 2021 at 11:12 PM ^
Looked to me like the better team won.
September 4th, 2021 at 11:12 PM ^
Passing yards aren’t bad, the three int’s are though. Their rushing game was abysmal with 65 yards. I hope our guys don’t start to overlook them because they got beat by Montana. Washington will be out for blood next week too.
September 4th, 2021 at 11:19 PM ^
Their passing numbers were horrific. If you count the four sacks it appears they had (the ESPN box score is messed up), they had 202 yards on 50 attempts. Numbers like that will almost always get you beaten. UW's defense may be ok, but at this point their offense is worse than ours was in 2008.
September 4th, 2021 at 11:25 PM ^
Last year we lost to a team that had 6 turnovers and awful rushing stats the week prior. We can’t overlook them.
September 4th, 2021 at 11:34 PM ^
I certainly hope Michigan doesn’t overlook them, but Montana’s linebackers were not only living in the Washington backfield—they were putting in a new patio and redoing the kitchen. And Montana stuffed Washington’s running “attempts” at the line of scrimmage over and over again. You can safely ignore the stats in this one. Montana’s defense dominated. So if Michigan can’t beat this OL in the trenches and get pressure on the QB… well, that would be surprising
September 5th, 2021 at 3:34 AM ^
Did they install granite countertops during the kitchen remodel?
September 5th, 2021 at 6:39 AM ^
I believe it was quartz....
Wassup neighbor!!!
September 5th, 2021 at 9:06 AM ^
It was formica. They're old school.
September 5th, 2021 at 6:52 AM ^
It's a bit bizarre, because I believe their OL is supposed to be both very large and quite experienced.
September 4th, 2021 at 11:12 PM ^
Wait a minute. It’s like the 2020 season was a mirage.
September 5th, 2021 at 6:50 AM ^
What is this 2020 season that you speak of?
September 4th, 2021 at 11:12 PM ^
I watched the last quarter. UW looked disinterested and shocked at the same time.
September 4th, 2021 at 11:13 PM ^
Meant to add “this aged well”
