Scott Frost - the gift that keeps on giving.

I have a favor to ask of the board.   I need you to join me - and cheer, root, encourage, etc.. for ND today.

Don’t be silly .. No - not Notre Dame, the Fighting Hawks of the University of North Dakota (ND) - who face the Huskers in Lincoln.

Waking up on gameday of the first game of the season filled with something other than the existential dread that hung over so many seasons past. Last year’s team really exorcised the demons. Let’s do this business.

And what a good day it will be. Start the day off with premier league and then switch directly to the Michigan game at noon. Hallelujah. Sorry for this upcoming beat down CSU.

Exactly. I was a Sophomore in HS. My brother was a Freshman at Michigan. We grew up in a small town.
I remember walking from my brothers dorm room. I asked him if he knew where the stadium was at. He said not really but you’ll see it’s not that hard. I was aMAIZED at the swarm of people decked out in maize and blue all just flowing. No cars, just thousands and thousands of fans making a pilgrimage. Then walking up to the stadium and seeing only a handful of rows did not prepare me for what’s to come. I walked through the tunnel and into the cathedral of football stadiums. I was a fan before but that moment took my breathe away. I loved every second of being there. Michigan beat NW 49-7. As noted. I’m 55 and easily forget where I put my glasses down, but I’ll never forget that day and that moment.

I’m 45 and I can remember only remember bits and pieces of my first game—1985 vs Maryland. I was eight. I remember the score and a Maryland flag being carried onto to the field. I don’t remember my beloved grandfather being there. My dad had to tell me years later. This was the only game we attended together. That kills me.

Memory is a funny thing. I don’t know why I can’t remember him being at that game as I remember so much else about him.

Gramps was a ND fan growing(Catholic in the 20’s and 30’s and from an immigrant family). But he was buried in a Michigan sweater. He was converted. Well, at least partially. He never lost his affection for ND which is understandable considering how important ND was for Catholics in a WASP country in his youth.

Woke up at 3:49 and forced myself back to sleep til 4:49. Got queso in one crock pot and meat balls in another. My oldest sons coming over in which we’ll drink some beers and smoke some ribs  for the night game. My 15 yr old who will literally sleep till 4pm is even awake wearing his authentic Corum jersey. Must be game day!

It’s finally here. Gameday. Champions defending. It’s going to be an amazing fall, Ohio state will be vanquished again and it’s going to be Michigan taking home the title. My son is due in late October, this fall will be special. It’s gonna be Michigan again, Michigan.

Every first week of college football, I roll downtown Ohio state campus blaring The Victors on repeat. It’s about to hit even better shortly based off last years meltdown. Fuck OSU

Struggled last night falling asleep with the excitement of anticipation. Woke up at 6:15 and my wife somehow convinced me to go back to sleep. Awoke way later than I usually do, which makes the morning before the game so much shorter and easier to tolerate. LFG BLUE!
