Juwan was complaining about a call and in order to get the refs attention he stepped too far down the court according to Turgeon. Turgeon tattled on Juwan and then Juwan laughed and that set Turgeon off. Turgeon charged at Juwan saying “don’t ever talk to me” and Juwan reacted defensively.  That’s about it really

Can't embed tweet but this site has video showing Turdgeon kinda charging Howard, yelling at him and pointing his finger, starts at about the 0:25 mark.  NOT the top video but the video farther down in the tweet by Wes Brown:

It seems like Turgeon has been whining to the B1G about Juwan leaving the coaching box and he doesn't appreciate it.  This was the straw that broke Testudo's back.

I think that it was extremely petty to complain about it to Mommy and then have a temper tantrum over it.

But, Juwan could have shown a bit more restraint, too.

Great theater, but not a great look.  I'm glad he apologized to his players over it.

But, I love this coach.

That’s not what happened...

Juwan was the one who did the initial “charging” and an official stepped in front of him. Turgeon had his back turned & then turned and took 2-3 steps towards Juwan after Juwan already went towards him, then after the ref stepped in he went back & Juwan kept screaming & circled around a second time & had to be held by his assistants.
Two officials on the court & the 4th official at the table witnessed the entire event, thus Juwan receiving two technicals & ejected. I witnessed it in person and Juwan lost his cool. Turgeon had his back turned most of the time while Juwan was still going after him. The self defense excuse is laughable.

You're way off on the initial incident. Juwan was standing 1 step inside half court for quite a while (trying to talk to the refs according to him), and suddenly Turgeon came from his huddle very angry at Juwan. They each got a tech for this incident. Juwan got ejected a bit later because he kept at it (and he absolutely deserved it).

The replay that comes from the angle behind Juwan shows this all clear as day.

Also, "self-defense" is a specific term that does not equal acting defensive nor defending yourself or our team. I'm pretty sure Juwan wasn't saying he felt his body or life was in danger. If I insult you and you answer back, you are defending yourself, but you are not acting in "self-defense."

How can you watch this video (0:28 mark specifically) and state that Howard was the initiator, he clearly yells but it's Turgeon that gets close.

He apologizes and take responsibility for his actions then explains his side of the story. He says that he walked over to talk to the refs about an out of bounds call he disagreed with, then Turgeon started complaining to the refs about him being out of the coaching box, then he told Turgeon "come on man, I'm just trying to discuss something" then Turgeon "charged" at him telling him "don't talk to me, don't ever talk to me" then he went into defense mode

This may have been the extent of the interaction between Howard and Turgeon but I refuse to believe this is the whole story.  I think Howard was really set off by something a player/Morsell said.  Howard probably has decided to not rat out a student athlete.  I refuse to believe Juwan would get THAT mad at this interaction with Turgeon.  I respect Howard for not throwing Morsell under the bus publicly but I bet he really wants to.

I'm on your side, Coach.

And if Turg the Twerp "calls the league office", he'd better call out Izzo and his 2 hours of chasing refs and players all over the court.

Juwan will take some heat for this for claiming that little Mark Turgeon was charging him, but I don't care about any of that. This is a great little spicy jolt of adrenaline to get the post-season going. We needed a spark.

I think it's just a semantics thing - charging implies a threat of physical violence which just from Turgeon's actions wasn't there. But clearly the intonation and what he said made Juwan defensive.

Turgeon shouldn'tve flipped like that over a small comment which probably caught Juwan off guard. But Juwan shouldn'tve tried to act like he wanted to beat his ass either.

Sorry to go against the grain, but Juwan was in the wrong here.

If you listen to the video, his *own* words, he said that 'when a grown man charges you, you gotta defend yourself.'

His confrontation, however, was with Turgeon.
