He would find something wrong with an undefeated season. He is bitter man without a life. This is part of journey. We are significantly undermanned. Although Saban has a head start and ... Well bends the rules like a true carpetbagger. No class but most Bama fans had class that Ohio or sparty will never know. We will beat Bama or the SEC when it counts. Bank it.

Last night sucked but there seems to be a lot of things that are fixable, and Bama is really really good . . . again. I think we will look so much better next week no matter who would be playing.

Assuming Bama is a legit top-2 team (which it looks like they are) or a talented 10 win outfit, that puts them somewhere between USC 2003 and USC 2006, two teams that beat the two best Michigan teams of the last 15 seasons fairly handily in bowl games.

Now imagine if we had played those bowl games without our starting running back, without a starting corner for all but two defensive series (Who comes in after Morgan Trent?  Honestly, who?), and without a potentially key contributor on the d-line (we'll know more on how valuable Clark is later in the year, but the answer could be "quite a bit").  Those games probably look a lot like last night.

This is still the best team in its conference and they will benefit from going toe to toe with such a good team and seeing how quickly even slight mistakes can be punished when you play the very best.

A lot is made of losing Toussaint but Clarks athleticism would have really been helpful.

Only time will tell how good this Alabama team is but they are definitely in their prime as a program and it would have been a tough task for any Michigan team of recent years - even with the starting RB, CB and possible rush end.

He looks and sounds rough. Hopefully they can recover from this. The Alabama coaching staff beat the fuck out of our coaching staff. Alabama was very crisp and sharp.

Couldn't establish the line of scrimmage, you cannot win football games.  I am convinced that this is the "issue" with Michigan football of late.  Go back and watch Classic Games on BTN when Michigan's OL ground the opposition into dust and the DL clogged up the middle holding elite RB's to season low rushing totals.  Michigan's OL is not elite, and I fear is not even conference elite.  People want to blame #16 for all our ills, but if he were behind an OL like Bama fieled he'd be near unstoppable I think.

The last time we played Alabama (2000 Orange Bowl) they outrushed us 184-27.  That was the last time we won a major/BCS bowl game before last year.  In the 2007 Rose Bowl the team netted 12 total rushing yards in a convincing loss to USC.  We did better in the 2005 Rose Bowl, rushing for 125 yards, but we conceded 264 on the ground.  In the 2004 we netted 49 rushing yards in another 2 TD defeat to the Trojans.  Our national championship team averaged 3.1 ypc on 41 tries against Wazzu (slightly better than their 2.4 on 28 tries, but hardly grind them into dust territory, and they were more of a throwing team as I'm sure you recall).  In the 1992 Rose Bowl we gained 72 yards on the ground, 53 of which came on a run in the 4th quarter to cut the Huskies' lead to 34-14.  If you're watching old footage from Bo's day, I'm guessing those ain't bowl games either.

Wheatley going off on Washington (in a shootout we won 38-31) is the only time in the last 20 years we've done anything close to what you suggest happened all the time against a non-conference foe that even slightly resembles this Bama team.

There were two Rose Bowls, IIRC, in which Ty Wheatley gashed the opposition.  Although, maybe one was an OSU game.  I've been watching Michigan football since 1976, so maybe my memory is a bit skewed now.  It just seems to me that Michigan's OL hasn't been what it was, even in the Big 10.

its not elite right now, but with guys like kalis, magnuson, fox, bosch, and dawson coming in, it will be elite soon enough. all those guys are among the top o-line recruits in the country in their respective classes. hoke knows that football games are won in the trenches. give it some time. shane morris will have all the time in the world to make his throws.

I agree 100%.  I think when Hoke took over the program and did his overall assessment was focused on reestablishing the OL and DL as nationally elite.  It would be nice if Michigan could oversign like Alabama does, as it would happen a lot faster.  But, we can't, so we'll all have to be patient.

The man didn't offer a single excuse. He isn't going to let anyone use the excuse that Alabama is so good. He rests the blame on his team. This game I'm sure will be motivation for every game this year.

This game is a HUGE benefit to the team, long term... I say this because most people believe Alabama to be the best team in the best conference, not necessarily the best team to win the BCS... This shows where we were weak and what we need to fix to be elite. It showed me personally the lack of depth we have at areas of desperation like OL and DL... And Hoke is the PERFECT coach to deal with an fix that. I have 100% faith in this team... Alabama waxed MSU 49-7 with a team that was definitely not as good as the 2011/2012 team, IMO. Michigan has work to do, but after seeing a lot of those True Freshmen on the field, I'm excited to see how Hoke

Rough day for Michigan Football, but ive got faith in Hoke & Co to get things streight before B1g Play. In the grand scheme of things this lost was the best one we could take all season.

The loss is a tough one, but I think Bama may be talented enough to win back to back MNCs.  Either way we know that having an O-line that constantly has one or more guys hitting the second level is a great thing to have.  Hope Coach Hoke gets to feeling better.

How can anyone watch that and not know the poor guy is sick?  Hoke seems like a total class act, and he handled himself amazingly in the presser.  I felt bad for the guy--he obviously felt awful.

Just throwing this out there but as Hoke suspended (and kicked off) players after altercations Urban brought back Stoneburner and Boren (after a mythical suspension) and allowed them to play.  This demonstrated a strong amount of integrity for Hoke but it was extremely costly, and painful.  I think this sets a strong standard that describes exactly what it means to be part of Michigan.

I know although many of us wanted Fitz and Clark to play, we knew this was the correct choice.  I am just hoping not to see many more integrity checks, or preferably the need for integrity checks.

Once again, demonstrating the excellent choice in our coach.  GO BLUE!

Wow, I've never seen him like that before.

From his reaction as the game progressed, it looked like he had been blindsided. I guess that's good; it indicates he had every expectation that we were capable of winning this game.

Such is the power of Hoke. Even when we lose, he keeps us smitten with him.

Not too long ago, we were giving up 60+ to Illinois.  Getting absolutely blown-up by Alabama isn't the worst we've endured in recent history.  We need to keep our expectations realistic.  We are not world-beaters.  We are not on the next level that teams like AL, USC, Oregon, etc. are on.  We will be there soon.  No, not soon enough as we are instant-gratification seekers, but within the next 3-4 years we will be able to push back teams like we faced this past weekend.

Countess is on flight Oceanic 815 for the next year or so, Lewan will be ok to go, we will play for the Big Ten Championship.  I need some marijuana.

Watching Alabama play last year, I was legitimately scared for our players.  They are fucking outrageous.  Unadulterated, physical, mini-heatseaking missles -
