Urban Meyer postgame keeps referring to Ohio St as "we"

Pretty good television of Urban Meyer constantly stumbling by referring to Ohio St as "We" and having to correct himself.    I guess technically he is still employed by Ohio St as they rewarded his great moral actions while the coach of Ohio St by making him the Assistant Athletic Director

In other news, it's funny an Ohio St "reporter", Kevin Noon, in the press-box apparently got mad for being called out not acting like a professional:

A Clemson student journalist just telling an established Ohio State writer to stop cheering in the press box has been the highlight of this night. #FiestaBowl — Eric Sorenson (@EricSports360AZ) December 29, 2019

I was a student reporter for the Michigan Daily’s sports staff in the early 90s and in that capacity attended Webber’s college announcement at a steakhouse in downtown Detroit. When he announced for UofM, I was one of many people who cheered out loud. But I can tell you I got chewed out for it by the Daily bosses afterward, that’s for sure.  Supposed impartiality (at least externally) is a cornerstone of the self-constructed ethos of journalism. (The irony of that juxtaposed with almost every newspaper’s Opinion staff is a bit much, but that’s only one reason why I refuse to take journalists even half-seriously.)

Why is cheering forbidden ? It’s a football game. These guys pretend they are covering humans rights issues in Saudi Arabia. If you wanna cheer for the buckeyes go for it ! Just maybe write a decent article with some empirical reasoning, not the normal feelings bs they go with.

Fox really needs to clean up that show if they want people to take it seriously.  Reggie Bush was practically crying on the air after Iowa thumped USC and they turned the entire post game show into a show for Bush and Leinart to talk about what is wrong with USC.  Lots of we and us.

I don’t really care for Bush and Leinart but what’s wrong with them being emotional for their alma matter? Don’t Desmond and Charles do the same? If anything I’d say a lot of fans probably enjoy hearing from their alumni.

doesn’t change the fact that I hate OSU but glad to see Meyer suffering from the booth. That dude didn’t really lose a lot so he may have pulled this game out if he were coaching

People don’t seem to understand that the model for the FOX studio show is for the hosts to openly display their school loyalties. Hell, half the broadcast is them chiding each other about the success/failures of their teams. This isn’t some old school MNF football telecast where they’re expected to put any personal biases aside.
Woodson does a great job and is a total professional, but he doesn’t exactly hide his feelings for Michigan and express his frustration over their lack of success against OSU. Meyer is the same way in doing a good job but not pretending he’s totally unbiased.

Despite this direct comparison of two men who work side by side, it still doesn’t stop our fan base from blowing a gasket every time Urban shows his feelings towards OSU (Or Bush and Leinart for SC or Quinn for ND) yet praise Charles when he show his love for UM.

This is all factual but you forget the mention the biggest difference between  Reggie, Matt, Charles and Desmond and Urban: those four are paid by Fox and only Fox do give their analysis and commentary. Urban is still an administrator for OSU so he also still has access on a daily basis to Ryan Day and the football program. If he wasn't still employed by OSU, then you statement would hold way more water.

Bullshit. You’re just making up some childish double standard where Woodson, Bush, Leinart, and Quinn can show their feelings for their schools but Meyer, simply because that school is OSU, is forbidden from doing so because.....reasons.

If he was the only one guilty of it, then your point would be valid. But the others clearly do it and it’s actually encouraged by FOX.

You’re really nit picking with this nonsense.

So stating an actual fact is nitpicking? There is reason you don't currently employed administrators on networks every week doing studio shows. This has nothing to do with it being OSU. I would say the same thing if Woodson was an employee of Michigan and employeed in same fashion as he now with Fox. You can ignore that fact if you want it is a fact.

Also remember when I believe it was ESPN took him off the broadcast for the OSU against us? It was because he had been hired by OSU and they knew it was improper to have a current employee of the school on the broadcast.

His daughters are also incessantly annoying Ohio State homers, using “we” all the time, and all they did was be Urban’s kids. whatever, I guess.

Urban knows the game and is a solid analyst.

Christ, stop obsessing over Meyer already. Guy hasn’t coached Ohio State in a year and is probably going to be making stupid money in the NFL in the near future.
So he has an affinity for the school he coached at for 7 season and he shows it as a commentator, Woodson and Howard do the exact same thing and it doesn’t seem to be an issue on here.
I’m tired of our fan base looking like a bunch of petty, hypocritical assholes over stuff like this.

One of his responsibilities as assistant AD is to be involved with on-campus visits. So he absolutely is involved with recruiting. He also left all his support staff in place for Day. I'd love to see Urban take another college job somewhere and pick off the best people from OSU. Then we'd see if Day is an elite head coach and program leader. Cant tell now since he just slid into Urban's cozy chair.

It feels like it’s wrong, but there’s nothing we can do about it. Michigan fans pointing this out just gives FOX more clicks/views for his segments, which drives up the money they can ask for adverts, which is how they make their money. The only way that we can get him off the air is if he does something nefarious (again) or we just ignore him. Pointing out that he’s biased isn’t going to help. Gotta hope someone else offers him a job.

I am fine with a guy showing some love for his alma mater as long as he is objective in his commentary. Hanging around the sideline pulling for your team on the same day that you are being paid for objective commentary feels to me like it has crossed a line.

As soon as they showed urban on the sideline there may as well have been a black cat thrown on the field and a sack of marbles dumped in the end zone. Boom interception
