Update: Brown Predictions
So as to not let the board go devoid of hypothetical, fan-girl caterwauling for too long, here is the latest on Jaylen Brown:
Last 19 picks (!!!) have been to Michigan now, and we sit at 50% on his Crystal Ball (Kentucky is next at 26%). Of the latest picks, of note are:
Jerry Meyer, 247 Director of Basketball Scouting
Jason Marcum, Kentucky Sports Connection
Randy Newman, Big Blue Express
Ross Martin, UNC Insider
Chad Lykins and Chris Bunn, Blue Devil Lair
Also interesting is Kentucky offering a new combo forward yesterday. Shaun Kirk is a 6'7 3* SF from NC and is committed to NC State. In a trend possibly related to Jaylen's crystal ball, the last 5 picks for Kirk have him going to Kentucky. Is Kentucky scrambling for a last second option to fill the space they had saved for Brown? Does Brown not care that Coach Cal knows Drake?!? I'm sure we'll find out soon.
Edit: Instant update. PF Cheick Diallo just committed to Kansas (who is already thought to be out of the Brown sweepstakes anyways) and the UK recruiting writer for the Lexington Herald also says all signs point to Brown to Michigan.
I think Chatman took serious minutes away from Chatman
Though Williams would probably take more time away from MAAR and Robinson than from Chatman.
It's crazy to think of the difference between Winslows year and Chatmans. They are both small forwards of comprable size and (sorta) play the same position. Winslow was the #15 ESPN prospect while Chatman was #38. Not a big difference but one is now a likely an NBA lottery pick and the other is just hoping to improve enough to get minutes as a sophmore.
Winslow was considered either the best in his class or second best as a forward. He was one of the best two. Kameron Chatman was a tier below him realistically. A better comparison would be Keita Bates-Diop at OSU. Chatman was the #7 SF on the 247 composite. Bates-Diop was the #8 SF. Both were in the same conference. Both didn't play over 15 mintues on average and both didn't average over 4 points a game.
Sometimes it's just hard adjusting to the next level and a certain system. Winslow was a more highly touted guy who most believed would be a one and done.
Jaylen Brown is in the same kind of tier as Winslow. Which is why so many people are excited about him. Chatman is an elite talent for sure, but he was never seen as a for sure one and done type guy, much like Bates-Diop.
Just an fyi, Copeland, Morgan, Robinson, and Pinson were all considered better than Chatman and Bates-Diop and none of them are going to the NBA. I don't believe any of them averaged over 10 points a game. I think only one averaged over 7 points a game. Theo was believed to be right below Winslow and you can see his stats here: http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/player/_/id/3138154/theo-pin…
I guess my point is that sometimes I think people expect a ton out of newcomers and it is really rare for them to make a huge impact. Jaylen Brown is the kind of player who could definitely make an immediate impact.
I'll believe it when I see it.
That is fair...however, can we ban you for the aggregate of your depressing and grossely innacurate statements and negativity IF JB commits to JB?
my money was on 'The Brain'
if they might consider red-shirting Chatman. That might be the best thing for everyone involved. He is young for his class and it showed big time on the court last year. Another year to develop might not be bad for him and the program. Otherwise, there won't be a lot of minutes available at the 3-4 positions.

Terry Richardson redshirted after his freshman year.

He redshirted his third year at Gonzaga and went on to be the 13th pick in the draft.
That might be ideal, but how often does that actually happen?
The Zags do alot of redshirting. They are smart enough to know they aren't a one and done school so player devolpment is something they do because they have to.
So more no nose.
including me
This
like Lane Kiffin, Cal also gets together regularly with Michael Jackson.
a 3 star in the OP? I didn't think they did that. . .
I want to get excited, but I'm still afraid of coach Cal and his possible late hour chicanery.
A sense of joy and wonderment
Well they're very shiny and they sparkle in the sunlight, for starters. You can sort of see your reflection in them.
the poster openly acknowledged the schoolgirl aspect to this upfront. And everybody here understands that only Brown really knows. But thanks.
Yes gotta love Crystal balls...Wait, you dont have any?!
: (
A lot, apparently.
Just want to hear those words "I have decided to play ball at the University of Michigan"
Then I will crack a brew doggie, kick my feet up and smile....and look forward to the awesomeness of this young man

Though I do not like the end of the sentences, Im a family man. I am just simply referring to cracking a brew. Preferably and IPA.
Started saying it in college, now I can never not call a beer a brew doggie.
You can turn it into anything really.. Have fun with it
"My man, throw me a brew pigeon"
Please...please...please!
Get Brown, redshirt MAAR. Bring this whole thing together...
PG: Walton / Albrecht
SG: LeVert / Dawkins
F: Irvin / Robinson
F: Brown / Chatman
C: Doyle / Wilson / Donnal
Stay healthy and improve like Beilein teams improve and you have a Final Four team.

MAAR won't be redshirting. I highly doubt Chatman will either, but that at least makes a little more sense with MAAR being 2 years older than Kam.
Just curious. You speak very matter of fact. I'm not saying he will, I'm hoping he will...it makes perfect sense to redshirt him if everyone is back and healthy.
This is just beautiful coming from someone who almost always speaks as as a matter of fact. I can give you multiple reasons why IMHO (you okay with that) it wouldn't make sense for MAAR to redshirt. I gave you one--that at 21 he's a little old to further delay his career. Things don't work out and he's transfer at 22, sitting out a year, and then playing 23 and 24. But somehow you expressing an opinion shouldn't be questioned?
I can also give you multiple reasons why he won't.
I said I HOPE he does...what part of that don't you get? I said it twice, now three times.
Read, man...READ.
...and we're stacked at the guard position (assuming Spike is healthy).
He would literally be getting, MAYBE 5 minutes per game. 5 minutes that could easily go to someone else. Wagner should probably redshirt too unless he's truly the REAL deal.
