Unverified Voracity Takes It Well
Just one MGoUser's humble suggestion for the title of the recap today. At the 8:57 mark of the game, after the officials went over to the coaches to explain the foul call on Payne, Izzo looks over at Beilein and drops a "F*** you".
John Beilein is officially in Tom Izzo's head.

How sure are you that he actually directed this towards our staff/Coach B?
February 24th, 2014 at 9:38 AM ^
Right before he says it, you can see him say to the refs, while looking over at Beilein, "Yeah, I know but He's b*tching at you guys, he's b*itching at you guys". Followed by saying F U toward the Michigan bench. Pretty funny when you're in someone's head to the point where they're complaining about your complaining.
February 24th, 2014 at 10:25 AM ^
It looks like he is saying "Thank You" to the official.
February 24th, 2014 at 10:58 AM ^
He said fuck.

All Izzo does is bark at the refs... Unbelievable.
It makes the season sweep (second season sweep in recent memory) so sweet. I hope Izzo stays in East Lansing for another 20 years -- douche canoe...

I cannot see it, though I would wish to. I'm sure it's my work browser, but is there any other way to post it or provide a link?

while backing up. What a POS.
February 24th, 2014 at 10:12 AM ^
Not an expert of course, but it doesn't look like he's saying "fuck you" to me, and just from his mannerisms and all that, it's not a guy angrily shouting expletives. Even if he did say it, I'd say the OP is really making a mountain out of a molehill, especially considering what Morris said (not saying I mind at all) or all of Jalen's time at Michigan. It's big-time competitive sports with lots of machismo. I got negbanged, and rightfully so after I thought about it, a few years ago when I posted some article criticizing Harbaugh for talking trash about USC with tons of swearing in the locker room after his Stanford team beat them.
February 24th, 2014 at 10:30 AM ^
I'm not saying "OMGGGG Izzzo used the swears at are precious Beilein...suspend him!@!!" I'm just saying it's funny when you've got Izzo, who is a notorious complainer and spends half the game on the court in the refs' ears, complaining to the refs about Beilein's attempt to to get a few free throws out of the LeVert/Payne call. I know arguing calls has benefits (see the obvious make-up call for Michigan after the Morgan charge), but at some point it seems better to just focus on your team.
Izzo was thoroughly outcoached that game and I think Beilein winning like this is driving him crazy and leaving him extremely frustrated.

As the recent Facebook meme implored, "Avoid cliches like the plague. They're old hat."
And for the record, I think the OP is the best thing since sliced bread.

Facebook memes are cliched

Eat a bag, Izzo
February 24th, 2014 at 9:37 AM ^
As the kids say - "Come at me, bro".
February 24th, 2014 at 9:39 AM ^
Based on the description it would really seem that this was directed towards/in response to the referees. I don't really see how Beilein would factor into this at all.
February 24th, 2014 at 9:41 AM ^
Except saying Fuck You directly to a ref would result in a Tech more times than not.
February 24th, 2014 at 9:53 AM ^
Who says anyone heard it?

it happened in a forest?

"I'm still really sorry Mr. Harvey, and I had no right to sell the team's equipment like that".
February 24th, 2014 at 9:41 AM ^
Doubt it. One, Izzo is looking down the baseline toward the UM bench. The ref ran back onto the court after talking with him. Two, you can say a lot to refs, but generally a F U will get you tossed pretty quickly. Izzo's not that dumb.
February 24th, 2014 at 11:33 AM ^
To nitpick a little, if he was looking down the baseline, he wouldn't be looking anywhere near the UM bench.
February 24th, 2014 at 11:36 AM ^
I meant sideline. In the gif, when Izzo looks to his right, he's looking in the vicinity of the Michigan bench.
February 24th, 2014 at 9:40 AM ^
SIT DOWN TOM!!!
February 24th, 2014 at 9:44 AM ^
I can hear him now...
"Do you KNOW who I AM???"

Spends more time on the court than does Sparty's 6th man.

It's the only place he can execute his trap defense.

At least in the NFL
February 24th, 2014 at 10:12 AM ^
IMHO, the fine wasn't big enough.
February 24th, 2014 at 10:25 AM ^
In my opinion, there shouldn't have been a fine. The refs just should have awarded the Ravens a TD. If an opposing coach is somewhere he shouldn't be, and there is even the slightest chance that it prevented the opponent from scoring, then the opponent should be awarded the benefit of the doubt.
Save fines for stuff like Sal Alosi did, that's actually dangerous to other players and that isn't covered by existing rules.
February 24th, 2014 at 10:42 AM ^
I would've been okay with awarding the Ravens the TD. Absent that, I just didn't think the fine the NFL handed down to the Steelers was enough to deter any coach from trying that crap in the future. Isn't that at least part of the point of these punishments?
February 24th, 2014 at 11:35 AM ^
It should have been both. Giving the team what they were going to have anyway isn't a punishment. They should have awarded Baltimore the TD and fined him.
February 24th, 2014 at 9:50 AM ^
There was one point in the 1st half where he was at least 5 feet on the court, guarding Stauskus, preventing him from going down the sideline. I would love for someone to barrel over him and put a stop to it.

At 36:10 on the replay, Izzo sees something, jumps onto the court, nearly slips and falls, and the ref shoves him back off the floor without looking at him. This is right before Robinson's drive to the hoop with the bucket and the foul.
February 24th, 2014 at 1:14 PM ^
I was waiting for someone to bring that up.
While were on the Izzo is a turd train, do you ever notice that in the last 2 minutes of a close game, Izzo is waaaay more focused being on the court crying to the refs than actually coaching his team. I get that coaches naturally get after refs, but you would think by the time the last 2 minutes come, the coach would want to allocate his time to coaching the team.
February 24th, 2014 at 10:14 AM ^
We could always look at this from a strategic standpoint and say that Izzo is simply showing us that coaches can be highly valuable on help defense, but then the question becomes this - do you just take the technical in exchange to trying to prevent your opponent from getting inside or would the refs insist that he at least write a number on the back of his suit jacket?
February 24th, 2014 at 11:14 AM ^
How is he never called out for this?
February 24th, 2014 at 11:40 AM ^
because he's basically the Nick Saban of college basketball?
