Unofficial Two Deep
So, I see that mgoblog has the unofficial depth chart as of 8/27/11 up under the "helpful stuff" tab. Most of it makes sense. There are a few questions
- Is Avery conclusively the starter over Floyd at CB2?
- Has Campbell truly fallen to 3rd string at DT?
- Is Barnum the starter or is he dinged? And if you are dinged, do you stay at first string even if you don't play a game or two?
- Is Brink really officially the starter at DE? Wow. Props to him, and if this doesn't motivate players with schollies, nothing will.
- In one of the interviews, Mattison talked about having a rotation of guys going in and out, in order to keep players fresh. Is this only on the defensive line, or also true with the LB? With the secondary? Looking at the two deep, I'm thinking that Jake Ryan, Desmond Morgan, J.B. Fitzgerald, Carvin Johnson, Marvin Robinson, and J.T. Floyd will see a lot of PT. I'm assuming things will shake out over the next couple weeks. I also assume some on my list are more meh, and some I haven't listed (who are charted as 2nd and even 3rd string) will also see significant PT.
- Wiles & Gibbons, starting at P & K. May the force be with them. "Brandon . . . just use the force. let it guide your accuracy. "

I will use my best info to answer...
1) Avery has passed Floyd. Floyd is our nickelback.
2) No - BWC will be rotated in throughout the game. Not a starter, though.
3) Barnum is dinged.
4) Unless something changes, Brink is starting. But expect the DL to rotate A LOT. Lots of snaps for BWC and Black.
5) Believe this is mainly the DL.
6) "Wile"

Barnum will be the starter if he's healthy. If not, it will probably be Omameh at LG and Schofield at RG.
Avery is most likely going to be a starter next Saturday.

whoops

If Barnum's hurt and, say, Huyge gets hurt, I think you'd see Khoury playing OG and Schofield playing OT.
Hopefully that doesn't happen.
I'm not a big fan of Schofield playing guard. I think he's too tall at 6'7" and I wasn't extremely high on him as a recruit, although he could very well have improved since then.

Why wouldn't they just slide Huyge inside to play guard and put Schofield at tackle? Hasn't Huyge already played a ton at guard?

depth chart thread a few below this http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/depth-chart-prognostications not a good spot to post this?

Ding, ding, ding, I fail in not properly scanning mgoboard, at least page one, for similar relevant posts. Crap. I'd tell you to Neg away, except the negbang no longer really exists. I'd tell you to delete my thread in toto, except I guess you have to be a mod to do that.
Nonetheless, thanks for bringing my error to my attention. Tis a good reminder to always run through recent threads before posting, as I certainly don't need to post for the sake of attention . . . thanks. Now I'll go read the other thread.

Official two deep should be out today, no? It's Monday game week.

Fucking yes.

It's Monday game week
How such a simple statement sends chills down my spine is beyond my comprehension. Monday game week. Nuthin' sounds better.

was impressive last year considering the circumstances. Could have used a tackle late against Iowa, but I was impressed with him as cover corner and thought he was quick to the ball. I think Avery has more upside and a much higher ceiling the Floyd. I like him as the starter.
I may be way late to the party here, but is Talbott injured or just not good? i don't think I remember him being a transfer or one of the infamous "no longer enrolled at the University of Michigan." I know he was not that highly regarded but I guess I though he would eventually get some play at corner considering how depleted our secondary has been over the last couple of years.

Seriously, Heininger starting, just ahead of Brink? Also, have your sources ever gotten you any time on the sidelines during practice or gametime?

I pulled up to a gas station in St. Louis around Christmas time last year, and it had a full service pump.
They refused to let me pump gas from it, and made me back my car up to the other pump. I felt like I was time travelling to the fifties.

I moved out to Oregon last year and noticed a couple things right away:
1. You are not allowed to pump your own gas. Every gas station has attendents that pump it for you. But the good thing is that you don't have to pay extra for the gas or tip. At first I was against this, but over time I have really come to like it. Especially on cold or rainy days.
2. NO SALES TAX ON ANYTHING!

I've noticed it more in nicer areas of big cities. (the kind of places were doormen and valet parking, etc., are common.) But usually you pay a price premium for the service. You have to decide if it is worth 10 or 15 cents a gallon to have someone else do it for you. I suppose someone could offer full service as a way to increase customer traffic.

The BP station on Franklin Road in downtown Franklin has full service.

I've been hoping Heininger will play really well this year so I can nickname him Killinger, after the Venture Bros. character.

When I first saw this thread, I thought the title said "Unofficial Two Derp."
I've already been at work for three hours, and it's going to be a long day.

I updated it just trying to summarize different posts from Brian, Hoke and Insiders. I think it's pretty solid other than LB which I can't keep straight who's playing where.
Every countdown to kickoff a new guy is saying they are competing at a new lb position.
August 29th, 2011 at 12:00 PM ^
I also made some revisions a couple days after you that were based on Hoke pressers.
Didn't change too much, but updated the kicking, punting, and returning section. Also added B. Beyer in as a reserve LB.
However, I have a feeling we'll see some more changes by this time next week, only those ones won't be based on best guesses. It's game week!!!

as far as Michael (Schofield) playing at guard..no one is more shocked then me....and even more...is how good he has done with it......he practiced at LG Friday. I have to hand it to coach Funk for moving guys through multiple positions.....
August 29th, 2011 at 12:06 PM ^
Is this Mr. Schofield?
August 29th, 2011 at 12:07 PM ^
You are Michael's father, correct?

I think our secondary will be drastically better than last year because we lost both T Wolf and Floyd in the second half of last year. It's no wonder we got rolled by seemingly every team we played after Penn State.
