I'll feel better if both Zak Zinter and Roman Wilson start on Saturday....
October 25th, 2021 at 9:58 AM ^
Roman Wilson had a snap count of 5, so he 'should' be back to full this week.
Zinter did not get a snap it appears. Hopefully he returns full but conditioning may be a worry.
October 25th, 2021 at 10:00 AM ^
I'm kind of hoping he returns hungry.
October 25th, 2021 at 10:34 AM ^
seems kinda unfair to deprive him of breakfast on gameday TBH
October 25th, 2021 at 10:40 AM ^
Anyone know if he's out of his club? What was the injury that kept him out against NW?
October 25th, 2021 at 10:43 AM ^
Believe it is a "leg" injury. Read somewhere he was dressed for the NW game and Keegan was not. I'm reading from this and the fact he's been playing with a cast that he is likely to play against MSU.
October 25th, 2021 at 11:06 AM ^
As long as one plays we are plus. Big chuck is pretty good at mashing.
October 25th, 2021 at 11:19 AM ^
Big Chuck is pretty bad at picking up stunts, blitzes, and other shenanigans so hope he is not needed against MSU
October 25th, 2021 at 11:54 AM ^
From my watch I thought Barnhart looked better than Filiaga. When the UFR comes out I'm curious how they will grade out.
October 25th, 2021 at 1:30 PM ^
Sadly, correct. He badly missed his assignment on a delayed LB blitz early in the game that resulted in a big sack of Cade "Don't Cyan Me" McNamara.
October 25th, 2021 at 2:42 PM ^
"Cade "Don't Cyan Me" McNamara"
weirdly, I heard that to the tune of "Don't Cry for Me Argentina".
October 25th, 2021 at 7:49 PM ^
*safety blitz
But yeah.
October 25th, 2021 at 8:30 PM ^
It was a delayed safety blitz I believe
October 25th, 2021 at 12:23 PM ^
I don't think he did, either, but he was fully suited up on the sidelines and I bet he could have played if needed. I expect to see Zinter (at least) on Saturday.
Great to see Roman Wilson out there again, though. We need him!
October 25th, 2021 at 1:50 PM ^
Yeah, I'm hoping this was a "could play but no need to rush him back against Northwestern" situation. It would definitely fit the overall feel of the game last weekend.
October 25th, 2021 at 1:37 PM ^
I saw Zinter fully dressed on the sideline against NU.
October 25th, 2021 at 9:56 AM ^
Unsure who any of those Sparty players are or if they are important, but their list is longer than ours. Small win?
Win the Game!
October 25th, 2021 at 10:07 AM ^
I think Beesly is the only guy who plays.
October 25th, 2021 at 10:20 AM ^
I'm happy for you that you don't remember Ricky White. Because I sure do.
October 25th, 2021 at 10:44 AM ^
Blows my mind that Ricky White had 8 catches for nearly 200 yards against us....and has 2 catches for 23 yards in all other career games combined.
Talk about a 1 hit wonder
October 25th, 2021 at 11:01 AM ^
The ole Don Brown Special
October 25th, 2021 at 10:04 AM ^
Shoot, I forgot all about Elijah Collins
October 25th, 2021 at 10:49 AM ^
Easy to forget any of their backup RB's when they have Kenneth Walker III.
October 25th, 2021 at 11:07 AM ^
anyone track wake forest? I’m was that kid good there? And if so why didn’t they ply him more?
October 25th, 2021 at 11:21 AM ^
I think the problem for him there was no one tracks WF lol. They're pretty good this year, might be the favorite to win the Atlantic now with Clemson having a down year.
October 25th, 2021 at 1:23 PM ^
He was on the Doak Walker watch list as a sophomore (579 yards in 7 games). He had 579 yards as a freshman also (13 games) at 5.9 yds/carry. So, he was good during both years at Wake.
He knew he would get the full load at MSU and felt the offense was a better fit. Wake has another really good back (Christian Beal) who is a senior, so KW would be splitting carries there. Beal had the higher yds/carry last year.
October 25th, 2021 at 10:16 AM ^
I hope the team goes into Lansing remembering what MSU did to them last year in A2.
I truly want to see Michigan destroy MSU but I know MSU knows how to wear that chip on their shoulder a whole lot better than Michigan does.
October 25th, 2021 at 11:01 AM ^
Revenge Tour II!!!
October 25th, 2021 at 11:07 AM ^
i agree that id love to see a dismantling, but with a top 10 matchup as 7-0 vs 7-0?... ill take a win in any way we can get it.
I hope the hate/hype has been in them for weeks and they feel overconfident.. we dont know if mel tucker is a "big game coach" yet.. but if they've been slogging the past couple weeks waiting for us, itll be a heavy tilt either way.
Their transfers are making that team way better than it should be - the speed on the outside and the speed at LB has transformed them quite a bit.
I hope our OL is healthy and we get a 40 carry dose from Haskins + Corum for 200+. I also hope Cade stays focused and we can get him out to a lead so he doesnt need to play catch up.
WIN. THE. GAME.
October 25th, 2021 at 1:06 PM ^
I mentioned on a previous post that Football Outsiders have State at 97th in sack rate on passing downs we are at 8th. Though the two teams are near the top on regular downs probably due to potent run games.
Pressure will be needed to relieve the long ball threat with the corners.
October 25th, 2021 at 6:40 PM ^
Agree for sure. Make EL Michigan North.
October 25th, 2021 at 10:22 AM ^
Russo being OUT could be a big deal if anything happens to Thorne
October 25th, 2021 at 10:52 AM ^
"It's Noah Kim time."
-Noah Kim presumably.
October 25th, 2021 at 10:53 AM ^
Correction: When we destroy Thorne in the pocket their backups are in trouble.
October 25th, 2021 at 1:07 PM ^
Hutch et al will just get held on every play. The refs don't call it (much if at all) and its been a good tactic against Michigan since 2016.
October 25th, 2021 at 10:31 AM ^
Did Baldwin play last week? I didn't recall he made any catch against Northwestern...
October 25th, 2021 at 10:53 AM ^
Yes, he was out there.
October 25th, 2021 at 11:08 AM ^
Andrel had a lot of reps in place of Baldwin if I remember.
October 25th, 2021 at 1:36 PM ^
I think he missed the block on the wide receiver screen play that resulted in a fumble before halftime. I definitely saw him out there a few times.
October 25th, 2021 at 10:41 AM ^
Still expect them to pull a number of screen passes, flea flickers, reverses, and options.
If this becomes a plain, grind-it-out battle in the treches... we probably win.
October 25th, 2021 at 11:15 AM ^
Agreed. They will run a ton of misdirection to try and get us to hesitate on normal downs.
October 25th, 2021 at 11:49 AM ^
You have to believe that with State on a bi-week and seeing what Nebraska (and NW on a couple of plays) did, they have installed a handful of misdirection / trick plays and will empty the bank on Saturday.
October 25th, 2021 at 10:48 AM ^
Seems they don't have any big injures (like us missing Ronnie Bell and potentially Zak Zinter), but they appear to have little depth if any starters go down. They'll be especially screwed if Payton Thorne misses anytime. But I have to say, I think if this game becomes a slug-it-out, ground-and-pound affair like it usually does, we have the advantage. We just can't let this become a shootout, but given our defense, I don't think that's likely. Our CB's worry me against Nailor and Reed but our pass rush should give Thorne and a less than stellar OL fits and I'm encouraged by having Clinkscale to coach our DB's and the progress that DJ Turner appears to be making
October 25th, 2021 at 10:51 AM ^
I see a four quarter dog fight. I can only hope the result is played out on the field and not because of the officiating.
October 25th, 2021 at 11:40 AM ^
I see four quarters of miserable anxiety for me!!
October 25th, 2021 at 10:57 AM ^
If the officials allow holding by the MSU offensive line all day then we will have a problem
October 25th, 2021 at 11:04 AM ^
That is a certainity and unfortunately has been during Harbaugh's entire tenure.
October 25th, 2021 at 12:10 PM ^
MSU will be holding on every play. We will get a call or two.
October 25th, 2021 at 12:29 PM ^
Did we get a single holding call Saturday? Seems like officials have basically decided Aidan is too good and so you're allowed to hold him. It's for sure gonna happen again vs MSU
October 25th, 2021 at 12:53 PM ^
Wasn't even just Hutchinson, Ross got literally one arm reached grabbed and completely spun around on a blitz that he had a free run at the QB on otherwise. So yeah I would say banking on a hold or 2 even is wishful thinking.
